Ok I found this over on FW and will post what it said because I tried it and found it to be useful creepy but here goes.... I tried it on a few private cell numbers... guess nothing is as private as I thought...
As posted over on FW...
This was pretty useful when I started receiving unsolicited calls from someone who pretended to be calling from a "card services" company, but only displayed on my caller ID a phone number! Well, it turned out be a Verizon mobile number in NY, when I did reverse search using this service:
www.freerevcell.com
I then could contact Verizon to file a complaint against the caller.

I wonder if they use an API from a public directory, I'd love to develop some apps that use this information.

I tried it with a similar phone number from mine with the same area code and prefix which gave me verizon wireless, which I'm sprint, and when I tried my number with suffix, it told me Sprint, so it's pretty accurate for me :)
Just gotta find out where they pull the records from.

Well my name didn't show up when I tried it. I use a prepaid phone-I wonder if that has anything to do with it?
ETA: Ok, tried it with PagePlus and Straight Talk, and it didn't show the name-just showed "wireless caller". Both are on monthly plans paid with credit cards. Another reason to go with prepaid : )

I have Straight Talk and it showed wireless caller for 3 of the things and my last name, first initial for the other search option. This number has been on AT&T and Tracfone, though (gotta love porting abilities :) )
That is scarry. It gave my name and locationBy "location" you mean your general area, right? Not GPS location?

TY, OP.
Oh my goodness! It does show up online that is my unpublished land phone # that I pays $9 on my phone bill each month. That is disgusting! :(

tried my number and gave my name right, but the location was still targetted based on the area code.
It doesn't know that I relocated. I think the results were based on area code.
Also tried my wife's number, but nothing popped up. has no information on dependent family talk lines

Tried it on my cell phone and just gave my current carrier. Seems like a few numbers I have tried give the First/Last name of the person but no address.

You must be with AT&T. I tried two of my friends' numbers who are AT&T victims and both times it displayed their names. I tried my Verizon number and it just says "Cell Phone TX ".
