so i bought a s22a350h monitor and i was wondering if anyone can tell me some settings and adjustment you guys use. i have it set the way i want it, but the thing is..the monitor is too bright in the night time..

i have a AMD radeon 6450

i have it set almost like this guy from newegg:

[PICTURE]
Brightness : 90
MAGIC Bright : Custom
HDMI Black Level : Low
(NOTE: Other options will become grayed out due to settings)

[COLOR]
MAGIC Color : Full
Gamma : Mode1
(NOTE: Other options will become grayed out due to settings)

[NVIDIA Control Pannel > Display > Adjust desktop colors settings]
-Use NVIDIA settings
Color channel: All channels
Brightness: 40%
Contrast: 30%
Gamma: 1.05
Digital vibrance: 70%
Hue: 0ยบ
Digital color format: RGB
Content type reported to the display: Auto-select
(NOTE: The low NVIDIA contrast value will not wash out the colors because monitor will compensate for the low contrast value)

So are you looking to calibrate the monitor for colors or automatically adjust the brightness with the amount of light in the room?

The Nokia monitor test/calibration can help:

Basically you set the brightness and contrast so you barely can't see the very darkest bar. Ignore the stuff about high voltage regulation because that applies only to CRT monitors.

Do you have any old DVDs of Star Wars movies or anything from Lucas Films? They included THX1138audio and video calibration.

Many colorimiters do this. The one I have (Can't remember the exact model off the top of my head right now) will adjust the screen brightness in software based on room lighting after you calibrate and give a baseline. It works pretty well. Any large LED LCD will be really bright though especially in a dark room.
