I want to extend the range of my wireless. What I want to do is have my primary router (Cisco e2000) in my office upstairs while the other router (d-link 625) would be in my living room downstairs.

Here is my set up:
Cox Internet
Zoom 5341 is my cable modem
Cisco e2000 - this is the primary wireless router connected to my cable modem (installed tomato on it)
d-link 625 (default software installed)

Can anyone explain to me the best way to do what I want with settings and all if it is possible?

Wireless Bridge = Connecting wired devices to your network using a second wireless router (extends the range of your wired LAN without really long ethernet cables). Some routers call this a "Client Bridge".

Wireless Repeater = Connecting wireless devices to your network using a second wireless router that is rebroadcasting your wifi signal (extends the range of your wifi signal). Some routers call this a "Wireless Range Extender".

Wireless Repeater-Bridge = Wireless Bridge + Wireless Router (performs both functions).

For your situation you need only set up a Wireless Repeater (although a Wireless Repeater-Bridge would also work).

Note: Devices connected to wireless repeaters will only have access to 1/2 the max bandwidth of your primary router. This is because the repeater's wireless connection has to alternate between your primary router and the devices connected to it via wifi. This may seem like a heavy price to pay, but as long as you're using Wireless N for everything the speed should still be well above that of your internet connection.

I have multiple routers in my home. Our house has LAN wiring, so all I had to do was connect the router to the other and set one router to become a DHCP Forwarder to the default router. (and then set wireless SSID to the same configuration with WPA2).

If you dont have wired house, then try following this guide. Although this is for DD-WRT, try doing the same funcitons using your router. I guess it would be easier to do this on the tomato'ed router for the secondary router as desribed in the pic:

Get a 2nd refurbished E2000 for $32 (http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/54157) and configure it as a repeater bridge (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge).

You may have better luck getting it working with DD-WRT on the router acting as the repeater bridge.

Is Repeater Bridge or Repeater mode possible? (http://tomatousb.org/forum/t-293204)
