This looks like a pretty good price. The only issue is the mini tower. They kinda suck in general. (I do PC repair)

This isn't a low profile case, it's just smaller. I haven't had a normal sized PCI card that couldn't fit. Sometimes I have to adjust the bracket but it's no big deal.Of course, adding a beefier power supply or something similar isn't really going to fit so keep that in mind.

Same specs as a Dell XPS8300 deal I posted last week except that deal had a full sized case and a blu-ray drive. But this is $100 cheaper too. The HP's and Lenovos I see out there at this price have i3 procs and integrated graphics.

The videocard is weak, but the rest of the computer looks great for gaming. Swap out the videocard, and you'll be good to go for most games.
Edit: I just realized this is a slim PC. The aren't many video cards available for these types of cases. It may be best to go with a full or mid size computer instead of slim.

No - slim tower has no room for a 2nd drive.

Rocks! I'm in for 1. Only downside for me is the lack of a 2nd drive bay, but an external enclosure from Newegg will solve that pretty well.
Thanks!

This is overkill for for surfing the web and business applications. Even a 5 year old laptop can do that.

If anyone is wondering. I read the specs on this 620 system, I have the older 530s and it seems to have similiar inwards layout.
the 620s specs said it have 4x SATA connectors.
there are be TWO internal 3.5" bay mounts. and TWO external bay mounts. (one used for the optical drive and one used for the media card reader)
You can have FOUR SATA drive in this thing.
I have the following drive rig:
2x 3.5" 2TB drives on the two internal drive bay
1x DVDRW drive on the extranal drive bay.
1x 2.5" 64gb Vertex SSD drive.
the only catch is the 4th SATA drive (2.5" SSD) I have to buy sata y splitter ($3 splits a single SATA power connector to two output) to provide power for the 4th drive as the PSU have only three power connectors.
Also I have to kinda stuff it & tape it on top of the side of the case. but it works well and no problem with it.
btw: is the media card reader standard? I didn't really see any option for that.

If this was $100 less I'd jump - its slimness is nice but I think I'd rather have a full profile option. Thanks though OP

Even though it is the same as last's week deal except for those two items. I am waiting for that deal or similar to come back, even though I do not care for the Blu-ray drive. I would like the option of adding a drive or 2.

I really want another $500 Dell for my gf, too bad the refurbished XPS 8300 deal is gone, well I'll wait. This machine is nice, almost same spec as the XPS one, but i prefer a regular tower for expansion later on, like adding a SSD. But for others doesn't plan on expanding, i say it's a good deal.

Best deal I've seen on a slim system since I got mine around Xmas. My 530 has been relatively quiet and reliable. FYI, I don't think you can fit a second 5 1/4" drive in as some of the info indicates. That second bay that is taken up by the media card reader and looks like a 5 1/4" is blocked to prevent usage with another optical drive.

If you're planning to upgrade, don't get a slim. I've had a dell slim case for years now and it's almost impossible to replace the parts.

No, there is room for a second hard drive. I'm using the previous model, the 580s as an HTPC (with Ceton CableCARD tuner), and I'm very pleased with it.

A friend of mine tried to order this system online and wasn't able to (he says, I don't know why exactly). He then called and the phone rep didn't want to honor the coupon code. So he said he wasn't going to order. The rep caved in and gave him the deal, but I suspect Dell will close the door soon.

Depending on your needs this card might be OK. Here's a link that explains this card and shows how it compares to other GPU's.
http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-6450M.43971.0.html
I have the Radeon 550v GPU that ranks just a hair above this one. I'm happy with its performance in my Laptop. I can play most newer games on medium setting and can play anything at low. If gaming is your life you may want something better, but for a casual gamer like me it's fine. It blows the doors off any of the integrated GPUs out there.

Don't buy this if you're a gamer. To say that slim cases limit your choice in video card upgrades is a huge understatement.

your link is to the Mobile version of the graphics chip.... maybe this will be easier to understand: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-graphics-card,2964-7.html
essentially, Tom's says it's a little faster than the 6800 Ultra we all slobbered over five or so years ago. it's equivalent to the 7800GT or 8600GTS, both of which were very serviceable gaming graphics cards a couple years ago.
it's not going to play the latest games at a speed you'd want spend much time on but it'll more than do for the part-time gamer or folks who play games other than Crysis and Call of Duty. =)

This system has 6GB of memory. For 32 bit Windows, that limits you to a usable memory of around 3.2GB, so you'd only see half of the physical RAM. Windows 7 32 bit can run on a 64 bit processor, with the memory limitation noted. Linux can access more with PAE enabled (I have 8GB on my 32 bit Linux system) but I'm told there's a performance hit.

Does anyone know if Dell will build a system custom for you without an OS?
I'm wanting to build a budget gaming rig and already have W7 (I tried installing it on Bootcamp on my mac but it doesn't run as fast as XP on it so I uninstalled it but still have the disc).
I'm mainly trying to run Battlefield Bad Company 2 at max, and also want to be able to run Battlefield 3 when it comes out in October. Help?
Not sure why this is such a great deal. Its 500 just for the pc with no monitor. Need to keep an eye on dell vostro deals. Vostro is cheaper and better tech support. No need to deal with rep in india.

Oh yes..it is Tuesday and that means Thirty30 code is active....
67 bones for a 2yr(3yr minus Dell's one) contract on Dell ( I used a VISA; not amex) is a steal as my wife leaves her computer on 24/7/365.
Time for some Carbonite for her so I can transfer the files off to the new puter when it comes....
BTW....The next closest deal I saw was for a i5 Gateway with a 500GB amd 6GB ram but it had integrated video; but was 469 at Newegg.
Thanks for the help gentlemen!
