dang, I bought this for $64 last time and now it's $49.99
Should I buy another 8GB to make it a total of 16GB? hmmm, tempting.
Also, does anyone know if it works like that? I've read somewhere that it's bad to buy 2 separate [2X4GB] Rams and combine them together. I don't know if it's true or not. Any help would be appreciated !

How do you get the 4GB Flash Drive...
NVM flash drive didn't add first time around it did second time around. They probably just fixed it over at neweggs side though shell shocker doesn't mention anything about a flash drive.

You just said it is the same? Well RAM can mix and match. As far as the RAM is the same for the dual lanes it shouldn't matter. If you look at your motherboard there should be a blue slot and white slot. Just make sure you stick the 2 same ones in the 2 same colors. If you haven't done that already you should do that anyway. You could also mix and match for the same lanes but something might go wrong and if it doesn't the faster ram takes the properties of the slower one.
Changed blue to colored since different motherboard different colors.

Thanks. I think my main concern was: I didn't want the motherboard to be running at two different speeds and screwing things up. But like you said, it's the same RAM with the same speed, CAS, blah blah blah. (Or in better words, the SAME RAM)
I was just confused when I kept reading about people saying you shouldn't buy 2 [2X4GB] to make it 16GB total

The reason for this is not about the memory module not working together but the stress the memory controller has when doing this. You might have to mess with it more depending on the hardware you are using.

Dear Customer
If you need 16GB, you should purchase a 16GB kit. This 8GB kit is only guaranteed to operate 8GB on a single system. You can try to match with another kit, but we can not guarantee it since they were not tested in that configuration out of factory. So if you choose to purchase multiple kits, then you should know that you are taking a chance for this type of problem.
The only solutions are to try two new kits, or exchange for a 16GB kit. There is no tweaking or help we can offer that would stabilize your system. With a 16GB kit, you should have no issues as they are pre-matched and guaranteed to work together. For all further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.
Thank you

I think this is just PR stuff. The reason for this I can think of is because if RAM is faulty you can get constant BSOD and they have no idea which RAM is doing it. With a 16GB kit they know all the variable so if you do get a BSOD it is definitely their fault while in the other situation they have no idea who should take the blame.

You know, I thought that too. But when I read the review from someone, they wrote that they did a MEMTEST on each RAM and all were in working order. They wrote that their MOBO couldn't handle 16GB total, but when I looked up their motherboard details (They wrote what motherboard they had) , newegg specs said that the maximum number was 16GB.
I just have no idea . haha

If you have current Sandy Bridge it is going to be slightly better then previous generation for memory overclocking/tweaking but it is still a hard work with all memory slots filled with 4GB. What makes this really annoying is the fact the memory controller is in CPU and everyone loves to overclock the CPU.

Well the RAM in this thread is a much better RAM in my opinion. Yours is DDR3 1333 and the one here is 1600 and yours is bare and this one has a heat spreader. But honestly the sensible thing to do is ask yourself if everything is working as fast as you would like it. If the answer is yes than keep your RAM, if the answer is No keep your RAM and buy this one and just add it on and hopefully it works because honestly from what I have seen size matters first which means 8GB or 4GB or whatever then its a toss up between CAS and Speed and I usually go for the low CAS just due to them usually being higher quality.

To add onto this a little more, even though the memory in this thread is faster most people do not feel the difference in speeds or timming. Most of the difference come when you are running benchmarks or looking for a reason to find a difference.

:) Well when I was reading your post it didn't seem that way. Also people should try to find the memory IC instead of speed and timming. Much more valuable information. Then again that is for people who only really care about memory.

Hmm just noticed you ram was 55 dollars any chance you can return it? Cause this is cheaper and you get a 4GB flash drive and overall better. If you haven't opened the UPS box you can even just return to sender and Newegg will accept it.

See my last post. I am running at 1.57/1.2vish on the ram. This is on a z68x-ud3h-b3. Basically I just set the ram to the special extreme profile (or whatever it's called), that bumps the 1.0V to 1.2V. My ram (Corsair) was supposed to be good to go runn 1600mhz with that setting but would barely make it past post. After bumping the DDR3 voltage from 1.5 to 1.57, everything is fine.

Same feel....buy first, think second
I agree buy first think later and I wasn't thinking when I bought the patriot 8GB ram for $33 after rebate. Now I am stuck with that and was going to return to newegg but the restocking fee and shipping killed it for me, so Ive just going to sell it off from Craigslist instead lol

I have a 2500k and currently have 8GB of RAM. Can I just do what you did to make sure all 16GB (4X4GB) work with no problem?
I can't promise you that anything will work. I can only say that the Corsair ram I have ran fine when I used only 2 at a time (any combo) at the rated spec (1.5v/1.2v), but when I filled up all the slots I ended up having to bump 1.5 to 1.57. Of course YMMV, depending on the type of ram and the motherboard.

Wow this ram keeps getting cheaper and cheaper. I bought a set of this and the Gskill sniper 1600 2x4gb for 130 after tax and thought that was an amazing deal. Now it's 20 bucks cheaper. I'm simply amazed.
FYI, you can probably get away with buying two of these sets and not have any issue. You may need to bump the voltage a little, but I didn't need to, worked fine right out of the box with no tweaks other than enabling xmp profile for intel 1155 socket motherboards.
Also using 2500k with a gigabyte z68x-ud3h-b3

the keyword is "right now". People are probably spooked by the DDR2 price spike last year, so stocking up on DDR3 for the future. Besides, the empty slots on the mobo just beckon to be filled.

I think some of the people have valid reasons for 4gb+ of memory then some just want to future proof but others is looking to stock up on cheap memory and profit when the price start to go up, just like what happened to DDR2 prices, but at this particular price its not so good especially when Dram market are still declining.
I agree, majority of the people do not need more then 3gb even years down the road, for people that want to make money off Ram's this time around it might be a different case then DDR2's as most OEM machine are shipping with 3gb+ of memories and DDR4 is no where close being released, its gona be a long while before we see any kind of spike for DDR3's as compared to DDR2's, just my opinion.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've increased QPI//Vtt to from 1.050 to 1.220 and the DRAM voltage from 1.50 to 1.640. And prime95 errors out within 5 min of starting the blend test. If I leave just one set of memory in it runs prime95 fine all day long at 4.4 ghz. Getting 16 gig of RAM running in this 2500k/Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 combo has been quite maddening. I've even tried other memory with no luck. Do I dare raise voltages any further??
Thanks Again,

You might want to increase vrm frequency
I just received an email back from G.Skill support and they wrote this
Dear Customer
You can try it, and generally it does work, but there are rare cases that two kits may not work well together. We can not guarantee it since they were not tested together at factory.
Thank you

I think the only difference is the heatsink that is used. Im pretty there are differences in the type of mos chip they used but looks to be the same in terms of specs listed.
I dont see why it wouldn't work. Ive ran different kits of ram at the same time before and I never had a problem. Corsair's mixed with some crucials, a-data's, g skill's etc.

^^ what he said....
Don't forget, for future references, you gotta make sure the frequencies and timing are the same.
you forgot the most important I think .... voltage. There's 1.5 and 1.65 generally for these. While you might be able to just lower timings enough to make all modules happy, the voltage can be a problem. From reviews I've seen, some 1.3v and 1.5v ram doesn't like upping the voltage much and I'd guess most 1.65V RAM won't like going down to 1.5V..... assuming your board even has RAM voltage adjustment. You can mess with the frequency and timings and it might make it play nice at other voltages but who knows.

H67 supports up to 1333MHz ram. This ram is 1600MHz. Seems like in order to run 1600MHz, overclocking is needed. HOWEVER, this should run in your desktop in 1333MHz speed instead of 1600MHz.
Since your computer already has 1333MHz ram, some might say it could cause stability issues but since this kit is rated for 1600MHz, it should work in 1333MHz just fine.

Actually this depends a lot on the motherboard. The P8P67 and the P8P67 Deluxe boards that I own have different spacings with the P8P67 Deluxe being further.
http://i595.photobucket.com/albums/tt32/aznpotpie/Sandy%20Bridge%20Computer/DSC_0140.jpg
That's how it looks on a P8P67 Vanilla.

This varies by memory chip and batch you get. However if your using straight up G.Skill then I wouldn't worry too much if the memory are rated at 1.5v but you push it to 1.65v.

It's not all that big of a difference unless your looking for it. The reason I know this is becuase I played with various memory from DDR3-1600 to DDR3-2133 with low to high timmings and I notice it only when i'm benching.
