I think this would focus people more on slickdeals aspect of the website. Any comments?

I thought that's what rep points are for (since reps are disabled for posts in the lounge and other forums)?

I don't even like that fact that post count is disabled for chat threads, but whatyagonnadoo?

People like to come to this site and hang out and check on deals once in a while.

Seriously... This is a community, not just a Hot Deals section.

Why not just get rid of the lounge and podium all together so people will HAVE TO focus on the deals part of the site??

Out of curiosity why do you care whether people get posts for posting in the lounge or not? Having some internet penis envy are we???

In the end I could care less. I don't need to justify my importance by how many posts or reps I have on SD.

are REPS disabled in the Lounge? I know they are in the Podium - but I see loungers with huge REPS often going up right after they post in the Lounge.

reps are only enabled in the deal and tech support forums. although it doesn't mean that people can't go to other forums and rep people. :-/

Impossible to do that. The site does generates some traffic because of the lounge and the podium.

Make them count as negative posts.

What makes you think that getting rid of the lounge or podium would make people focus more on the deals?
If anything, the people will not be on the site as much, thus making the site lose traffic.

Yes, is it bothering you that people are posting in the off topic area and getting post counts from it? If so, why?

I spend most of my time in the Lounge, but I still contribute to the forums by posting deals when I come across them. When I post in The Lounge I am contributing by making it a better place (hopefully) for everyone there.

So what's the point of turning off post counts there?

So what's the point of turning off post counts there?

its been discussed to death, we're happy with the current situation. recap of why
1) people who spam the board just so they can be the #1 poster
2)slow down people who think they're superior to others based solely on post counts.
3) allows things like the true false thread which would have deleted LONG time ago under teh old rules.
