I'm pretty sure it's just Dead Rising 2 w/ Frank West (the guy from the first Dead Rising) as the main character.

Does anyone know which version of these is considered the "superior" one graphically? I have both systems and am wondering which version to pick up

Also, 360 version is still $25 at Amazon and PS3 version is $27.

This is an entire game set in the same city as the original Dead Rising 2. New missions, weapons, enemies. The new thing is that we can take photographs and get points based on them. Not sure if these are new missions in addition to the old ones though.

Also, another huge addition is auto-saving.
And you get to play as Frank West. Also some loading time fixes.

Graphically, the xbox. Technically, the xbox. The ps3 version only surpasses the xbox when there are a ton of zombies on screen. Which one should you buy though? Your choice. source material here (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-dead-rising-2-faceoff)

I like it when lots of zombies are on the screen. One might say that's when DR2 shines the most.

I have the PC version on Steam, might snag it on the PS3 as well tho, because I'm a game collecting whore.

They've also said there will be an entirely new area in Off The Record.

Knowing Capcom, it'll be a bathroom or a kitchen area, but I'm curious to see regardless.

Weird, from those screenshots the Xbox 360 looks way too dark (too many shadows), PC looks best (middle ground), and PS3 looks too light / missing shadows

Article falls down on not knowing things:

"The forthcoming Dead Rising 2: Case West does require purchase of the full game, and is again 360-exclusive."

Not true, both exclusive Dead Rising 2 DLC packs on XBL are standalone and don't require the full game.

In general, most PS3 games run at 720p and are not upscaled to 1080p so they look not so great on my TV. Xbox 360 always upscales everything to 1080p for me.

This game was great and worth every penny at this price. Its not a super complex game with lots of puzzles, more of just mindless fun which makes it great! I have it for XBOX and I never noticed any graphical issues with it.....even towards the end when you are drving the Hummer down the street with wall to wall zombies. Get this game!

The Xbox 360 version is definitely superior to the PS3 one (higher resolution, better textures/shading, more consistent framerate, etc), although if you have a half-decent computer the PC version blows both away obviously.

Also the PC standard version is $10 at Gamestop right now, and it was $10 at Newegg not long ago although I'm not sure if it's still available there, so if you don't care for the extra goodies and have a good PC you'd probably be better off getting that version instead. Personally though, I'm a sucker for CEs so I picked up the 360 version.

Confirmed working for Xbox 360. $19.99 + CA tax (they're native to CA) + free shipping WITHOUT having to sign up for the ever-annoying "ShopRunner" trial.
Not sure why they're blowing this out....regular disc is still $27 at NewEgg, and GS used is still $27.
Prolly just part of the 'these stupid collector's editions are huge, and they suck for us to store and not sell at $60 or whatever hilarious markup we had it at....get them OUT of here!' movement that's been hitting these CEs lately.

I'm looking forward to the day when:
1) CEs don't have stupidity like a statue or t-shirt
2) CEs have PHYSICAL benefits, not DLs, which are useless for those of us with 'special' environments. I'm looking at YOU 'God Of War III'....DLable instead of physical = useless to me, I had it all DLed before opening the box. Bleh.
3) CEs come in a size that doesn't require you to rent a storage locker. I'm looking at YOU 'Halo: Reach'. Unnecessarily huge. Nothing says 'girls, come into my house' like having all these hilariously sized statues kicking about....NOT. Bleh.

Good CEs: Alan Wake (!), Gears, Gears 2, Forza 2, BioShock (!).
Bad CEs: BioShock 2 (I still want the record, though), God Of War III, Halo: Reach, Killzone 3, Prey, Assassin's Creed. Buy these, rent storage.

Which looks and plays better seems to be split down between fanboy lines. The take away is that it's fine and completely playable on both systems, and if you like the game, you're going to like it on whichever system you play it on.

Also, neither DLC pack on the 360 requires the game, article is wrong, I own both on the 360 and have played through them without have a 360 copy of the full game.

Also, the load times to get to the safe room sucks on both, while it's pretty much instantaneous on my Steam copy.

Not really. The pen is really crappy and mine came with alot of scratches on it. The brochure comes all folded up, basically ruining it. The only thing cool is the tin case, which I plan on using one day when I frame my shotgun with this tin and print the words "In Case of Zombies Break Glass" on the front. So unless you have a plan like me, the collectors edition is not very necessary.

The trophies are really annoying. So, if your trophy nut, forget it and try just try to enjoy the game unless you detest timed missions. However, the real downer after playing the PS3 version is the freaking load times. After a awhile, the constant loading ruins the game for me. As some said, go with the PC version for your to best entertainment experience.

They've also said there will be an entirely new area in Off The Record.

Knowing Capcom, it'll be a bathroom or a kitchen area, but I'm curious to see regardless.
I've played it at ComicCon. 50'ish retro carnival games, Area-51 alien theme designs, bright blue/red themes. New weapons like the alien head lasers, the mulcher barrel, and an improved lightning hammer/polearm.

Ebay is not looking good for this, hardly any completed listings for both PS3 and 360. Won't lose much I suppose if it sells, but trade in somewhere might be a better option for ya.

Thanks..good point. I will see how much I like it. Looking forward to the co-op with my son if it is any good.

So I don't see a consensus - does the version with Frank also include the previous game, or is it an entirely "new" game, so you'd have to have both to play through each set of missions?

How can the movie be HD on a DVD?

you can put HD videos on a DVD. Disc formats don't limit you to a certain resolution. Just space.

DAMMIT! I bought Dead Rising 2 (regular version) for $20 at Best Buy a few weeks ago. I knew I should have waited.

From Wikipedia:

Announced at Capcom's 2011 Captivate press show, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record features Dead Rising hero, Frank West, in a reinterpretation of the events from Dead Rising 2. The game will be released on October 11 in North America and October 14 in Europe for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC for $40 (USD). In addition to a new storyline and gameplay enhancements, Off the Record offers many technical updates including load time optimizations, improved network performance, and other system upgrades. New missions, cutscenes, environments, enemies, items, vehicles, and weapons will be available. Like the original Dead Rising, players will be able to earn Prestige Points (PP) for specific photo opportunities that are graded against criteria such as horror, drama, erotica, humor, and brutality.

I'm assuming that means it is a whole new game, albeit some similar material/missions from the first Dead Rising 2.

It's funny to me to see people who ordered much earlier in the day come back hours later now that the deal is deal to say they got one. We get it. Many people got one where others now can't. No need to brag about it.

Its a different character, and the game is pretty fun. :) Ive only played it on the ps3 and it looks great, cant speak of the 360 version. :)

Nope, I actually did, I just didn't feel the need to share it with the group when I got one or now that the deal is dead.

It's the same game, except with a different lead character and a new area added. All of the other areas are from DR2.

If it's $30-$40, I still might get it, but we'll see :).

Is it just me, or does the first Dead Rising seem to be a better game overall? It's one of the very games I can play over and over and not get sick of, but for some reason I get sick of Dead Rising 2 pretty quickly. The first game seems better graphically as well, more polished.

In general, most PS3 games run at 720p and are not upscaled to 1080p so they look not so great on my TV. Xbox 360 always upscales everything to 1080p for me.
Actually in general, most ps3 games AND xbox 360 games run at 720p natively (or less) and there are some titles on both systems that run in native 1080p.

Being that is the case if you have a digital display it will likely upconvert/upscale a 720p input to 1080p anyways so the only difference is if your xbox or the TV is doing the upscaling and which one is better at it.

I actually prefer DR2 over the original because the save system is more forgiving and I think the difficulty is lower also. I never finished the original because the game basically assumes you'll have to restart from the beginning with your saved points in order to advance. I finished DR2 without having to restart once. I also hated taking pictures in the original.

Yeah i probably worded it not so great. Theres a few 1080p games on PS3 that look great, its just that when theres a 720p game on PS3 and a 720p game on Xbox 360, the 360 one will look better on my TV since the 360 will upscale it for me to 1080p and my TV says its in 1080p mode. When I play it on PS3 the tv says its in 720p mode. I think theres only a handful of 360 games that do true 1080p. I know Sacred 2 is one of them.

I like having multiple save options on DR2. I finished the first DR on the first time through, but kept playing through multiple times in order to get my stats up and explore. Taking pictures wasn't my favorite part, but it added depth to the game.
