It will fit in a toyota corolla sedan. Just pull down the back seat. That's what I did with my Honda Civic and I was able to fit in 55" LG tv.

why does everyone want higher refresh rates? i dont get it - is it just for 3D? (cause i find 3D pretty stupid...) is it for the motion enhancement? it makes movies look like cheap soap operas because if farks with the 24fps frame rate... someone explain this to me???

60hz kills it, lol. Regardless of the marketing hype, below is an interesting article where test participants could not distinguish between 60/120hz in terms of motion blur when watching typical programming:
http://www.extremetech.com/electronics/73172-lcd-motion-blur-fact-and-fiction/1
"After extensive side-by-side objective testing with moving test patterns, moving photographs and live video we found that there was no visually detectable difference in motion blur performance for current mid to top-of-the-line LCD HDTVs, regardless of their response time, 60- or 120-Hz refresh rates, strobed LED backlighting, or motion enhancement processing."
"As a result, our bottom-line recommendations are: If you stick with the mid- to top-tier models from the reputable brands, you should ignore response time specifications, not worry about LCD motion blur, and not spend extra for 120-Hz or higher refresh rates, strobed LED backlighting, or advanced motion blur processing."

Everyone is too anal about the refresh rate. I've had it for a week now and love the TV; if you're going to complain about the refresh rate then move on. This TV isn't just a TV and because of that the refresh rate might be slower but it can do a heck of a lot more than any other TV out there can do. I love the Chrome browser on it. Simplifies things and the Netflix and other content on the TV is great, definitely a great buy for anyone out there.
Just got shot down requesting a match with Amazon, they claim that it is a "Sale" price and not their "regular" price...any suggestions?

Most of the reviews on this set is average. I use SONY SNP-100 Wireless N Media Streamer it's okay. But to have the feature built-in plus have PC features too incorporated might fit the build for most here. I have Quad core in the living room running 7 64-bit Ultimate that's connected to the HDTV that has 10,000:1 DC on it plus that 60Hz.
SONY Google TV is for those who want PC and Internet features and also have LED 1080p HDTV with a lot of connections. Selling point is the Google TV features. 60Hz vs 240Hz shouldn't be the deal breaker. Go into Best Buy and look at the set or even try it out and then decide. Amazon should match the price no matter what. ShopNBC were selling these sets too a few months back. No tax and free shipping plus 6 payments interest free.

I tried the mobile coupon and it wouldnt apply in the register to the tv. There are a lot of Sony Exclusions and it excludes tvs 999 and up and possibly could be since the regular price is 999.99 ?.
It would apply to the other things in the purchase though.

Nope, didnt do the manager thing since the register wouldnt take it on the TV. We had the calibration in the checkout too (which we later removed) and it was giving the $10 card for that. The manager was there at our checkout since we did the checkout at the service desk and she said it wasnt applicable to this purchase as well.
I didnt wanna bitch it up at the service desk since we had excellent customer service from the lady who showed us the tvs then checked us out. She even held the TV for me over the phone while we drove down to have a look at it. Our best buy only had 2 in stock of it.
The TV search started yesterday morning when my dad's bedroom TV died (an old clunker TV that weighs 30000 lbs) and just happy to find such a great deal on a nice TV he can use in his room this quickly.

I did the Sears route this morning as well, but I'm wondering if it went through. Everyone I talked to said to just buy it and then fill out the pricematch form. And now that the deal is dead, I think I'm probably screwed...did you get them to give you a PM confirmation at the getgo? I wasn't able.
I also went through chase ultimate rewards...and in the past I've had luck with getting the %age back on the original purchase price, not the adjusted amount. So in this case 7% of 1399.99$ which is 98$. But I'm skeptical it will go through.

Also purchased it via my credit card reward store which has 3x points for Sears.com :-D. Does anyone know if I will get 3x points on 1399.99 or off the final price I pay...
Did you place the order then do the price match or call and ask them to match the price before ordering? I ask because its OOS online at BB.

seems no matter how good the price is, idiots find something wrong with it not being more for that price
$200 32" flat screen tv - "oh it's not 1080p...this is garbage. i would rather spend $400 and get 1080p since that's equivilant"
$400 42" 1080p lcd tv - "it's not LED...passing"
$600 46" 1080p LED tv - "it's not 120hz for when i watch my 24fps movies or anything else non-120hz required. you know you can get 120hz from a lesser quality tv manufacturer for only $300 more"

I did the Sears route this morning as well, but I'm wondering if it went through. Everyone I talked to said to just buy it and then fill out the pricematch form. And now that the deal is dead, I think I'm probably screwed...did you get them to give you a PM confirmation at the getgo? I wasn't able.
The lady on the phone submitted a form with all the info to the price match team and had me email them my order number and a pdf printout of the best buy price. I hope it works!

I also went through chase ultimate rewards...and in the past I've had luck with getting the %age back on the original purchase price, not the adjusted amount. So in this case 7% of 1399.99$ which is 98$. But I'm skeptical it will go through.
you ARE screwed. sears is absolute garbage with their price matching. they prey on people by forcing them to pay full price first then having to go through the hassle of trying to return the item. i tried to price match a stupid blu-ray set that they had listed for $60 but was on sale for $20 at wal-mart. they said i need to fill out the price match form and wait. i asked how long it takes and they said a few days. i asked what happens if it goes out of stock by then or the price goes up. the rep said since she saw the price she would "notate" that my price match is legit (*notate the account is just a garbage term that all companies use in order to put customers at ease. i don't think there are notes available for any account since whenever you try to refer back to them you always get "i don't see anything in the notes regarding this".). about seven days later i finally get an e-mail saying my price match request is not valid because the item is out of stock. i quickly respond saying that it was in stock for three days after i submitted the price match form. they respond by saying the model numbers do not match. i respond with "blu-rays don't have model numbers and that only applies to tvs and appliances". they respond again by pointing out that the wal-mart website shows "prices may vary in stores" on the product page to which my rebuttal is "they have that listed for EVERY product...even ones that aren't on sale". at this point the blu-ray was BACK in stock and i asked them to check again. of course this took more time and of course by the time they respond again "sorry price match is not valid, item is out of stock". Well today is a buyers market. Most of the HDTV sets have come down in price. Sure you can buy no name brands cheaper or in house store brands too. SONY set here is a good deal now that I know it's on sale again I'll go and check it out later today. But frankly 1080p is something to consider though. Hz features 60 is standard and even the 120 and 240 still does 60Hz. To spend extra on 120/240 unless you feel you need to be happy to have it. I am more looking at the quality of the panel and features. Plus I am looking at 46 and 55 inch size. The Sharp Quad with Yellow color looks like a marketing feature. Too much push for LED, Quad Color and 3D right now. I am not spending over 800 for these sets crazy too do!
Did any of you spend more on extended warranty so the store can make profit from the deal!

Yeah the first guy I called told me to do it in the store. After telling him that I wanted to do it online because of the 3x points from Wells Fargo he wanted to transfer me to someone who would do the pricematch for me on the spot once the order was placed. I hesitated and told him that I would call back.
Once I decided I wanted to bite on this deal, I called again and got some other lady who submitted that form on my behalf. She told me it would take about 24 hours for the price match to come through.
I realize the deal is dead now, but I think I should be ok given that all of this was submitted while it was active. Didn't the deal die last time before those guys got their sears price match?
So anyone know - is this deal only good for today? I have to go to work now until 1030PM - Best Buy is 45 mins away from me. Will this deal be good tomorrow morning or is this only today? And since it's out of stock online, is the deal still good in-store?

not sure if online will reflect the price tomorrow but there is a store near me that says the tv is in stock and i am pretty sure best buy price matches their own website so if you can find it in store and it rings up full price they should match the online price if it still shows up online at that price.

Then being slickdealer I tried chatting with a rep again and that rep said Sears.com model is a premium superior model than Best buy. Good afternoon Mr. XXX
Thank you for contacting Sears.com.
We appreciate your consideration of Sears for your product information needs. Thank you for placing your order with us; order XXXXX.
When reviewing your price match request with Best Buy, we found that the Sony TV is currently out of stock both online and in their store. Although we are unable to consider your price match request at this time, we encourage you to resubmit your request once the item is back in stock.
Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance. We appreciate your business and apologize again that we were unable to approve your price match request at this time
This is despite chat text confirmation of representatives telling me I will get the pricematch. Phone conversations telling me I will get the pricematch. And a screenshot of the item in stock. Sears is a garbage company.

The NO120Hz thing is the new NO HDMI
But at least HDMI is useful. ;-)
I have a newer 46" 120 Hz Samsung TV, and I wouldn't have bought it if it didn't have HDMI. It makes connecting a computer directly to the TV a lot easier, and I don't have to deal with any audio issues if I want my computer to use different speakers than my TV does.
I don't understand the current 120 Hz vs 60 Hz debate. As far as I'm aware many > 60 Hz TVs can only accept a 60 Hz signal anyway (apparently some 3D TVs can accept 120 Hz), and every TV that's set > 60 Hz looks like a soap opera to me. I had to disable the higher refresh rate on mine because it made content look fake and generally annoying (even with 1080p content). When I connect my computer via HDMI to my "120 Hz" TV the refresh rate maxes out at 60 Hz, because that's the maximum the TV supports.
But really, if a deal breaker for you is 60 Hz on a TV then go to a Best Buy or some other TV store and compare the refresh rates for yourself; provided of course that you haven't observed them for yourself. Use actual TV channels and not those ridiculous built-in demonstrations, as those demonstrations can be quite misleading.

Just went to best buy and asked one of the guys. This old dude said they're oos and it's a price mistake. I barely understood him. Next thing you know leaving the store and they pull out 2 of em for these Asian guys who came together and I asked the guy who wheeled it out. He said I'd have to talk to the manager and they are out. Not sure what to believe. Didn't feel like throwing a fit about it because it's not immediate for me and I'm sure there will be better deals in the future. Not too upset about it at all now because if it's a 46 inch, I want one with the whole package and 60hz BARELY convinces me. Just hyped myself and I'm actually quite glad I didn't get it.. Credit card bills would be outrageous. :)

The refresh rate should not be an issue. I have a 60" Sony with 120hz refresh rate and a 40" in the bedroom with a 60hz refresh rate. I have never really noticed the difference. Maybe if they were side-by-side you could but really the difference is so minimal. I would not hesitate to get his TV at this great price. I love my Sonys. I was lucky enough to get my 60" for $764 when I read on this great site that there was a deal for those who had issues with their older Sony rear projection HDTVs. Just by accident, what a lucky break.

The box is smaller than the one my 40" led came in. google tv rox. has mlb, netflix, crackle, cnet, msnbc and full android web browser. Only problem I have with the TV right now is the lack of composite in and there is nothing but optical audio out. TV is too high tech for all my supporting hardware ; ;

Well when i called at 10am and got one held for me this morning my Best buy only had 2 total in stock.
They did have it on display though as well.
I came to the store to order, and it brought up $598 + tax
However, my debit card was somehow declined and I asked if they could hold the TV for tomorrow for me, they said NO.
This Worst Buy never pleases customers. They got 1.7 out 5 star review directly on BestBuy.
I will try to call them and ask to hold it.
Will rate them 1 star to get its rating down more.

I had it for 598 in my cart and was ready to order. Then decided to visit the store and see the TV before ordering. Store tag was also 598.99. Cashier had the tag and scanned. Came out 1000 and called the manager to override the price. He refused and said can take 200 off. I asked about honoring the store displayed tag price. He said corporate won't let him do that.He also said, they shouldn't have put that sale price starting today. This is at Germantown, MD. Online price and store tag price both were 598.99 and still the crroks refused to honor their own price.
Hope they file for bankruptcy. I will not buy anything here unless it is on clearance.

Just came from the Pittsburgh store:
The advertised in-store price on the tag was $599. I purchased it and it rang up $999 but the employee had his manager key in the lower price. In the 15 minutes that I was in the store, i saw 6 of these TVs sold. The employee told me that they still had 10 or so in the back.
And of course, as he was putting the TV into the back of my car, he dropped it on ground.
But, he was kind enough to go back inside and get a different TV for me...or so I hope.

QUESTION REGARDING 60Hz vs. 120Hz (Gaming)
I do not game often anymore. I only have a Wii, on which I run mostly homebrew old console games, although I do love to play Super Mario Galaxy 2, Legend of Zelda...
For these games, and for the Wii in general, 60Hz is plenty, right? I do not play Call of Duty (although I do have an XBOX -NOT 360- on which I love to play Halo now and then).
So, for a Wii primarily, is 60Hz good?

You are better off doing an online purchase with cashback. Also call consumer relations telling them that that store refused to honor their online price and give names. I've heard of managers getting fired for imposing their rule over the nationwide rule.

Sears is a garbage company.
the fact that they responded within the same day only makes it more obvious that they take long enough for the item to increase in price or go out of stock. i think it took five days before they responded to my price match of a blu-ray set. now i only go to sears to exchange broken tools or find low-as-hell clearance deals on appliances
So, for a Wii primarily, is 60Hz good?
for gaming i don't think the Hz is what effects the experience that most people complain about...it's the INPUT LAG of a few milliseconds. but people find anything to complain about how a particular TV isn't quite what it should be.
i'm waiting for the deal on a 60", 1080p, 240Hz, LED, 3D television for $700 which someone will say "only 7 HDMI inputs? if it had 8 I would bite...pass".
I tried PM with amazon, three times, no go, all three different excuses. Tried Sears, too much of a pain in the arse. Went with BB, tried in store to get that $50 GC, gave me an excuse that it was on sale they can't give it to me. This BB sux at accepting deals, won't go here again, but didn't have time to go to a different one. Bought as is total 661.39 oh well

I got the TV last time around with PM from Sears. Ordered it 5 mins after the deal was posted and sears price matched it in 10 mins. Total was $510 + tax. Plus used discover card for 10% cash back. Yesterday discover sent an email stating $140 in cash back :D Hoping the cashback does not go down when the PM refund comes thru.

I was shut down by Sears AND Amazon last time around. So I just got a 46" Toshiba for $525 without any hassles with AMEX 10% off. Very happy so far, even if it doesn't have google tv. Time to pull my HTPC out of the basement!

They should. I ordered mine this morning (right when this post went up) and just picked it up (got back at 4:37EST). If it was a corporate mistake i'd think they'd have canceled them by now, but it seems like store pick-up is safe (so far). In addition, your order receipt says you can't cancel it, so I think that means they already charged your card?
Again, they probably used store pick-up, too.

My kids play xbox and wii on a 60hz set no problems, haven't notice lag being an issue.
120hz and up TVs offer some additional image processing, most notably frame interpolation, where new images are generated in between existing frames. Some people like this "smoothing" feature, while others dislike it and call it the "soap opera effect", because it tends to make films look like soap operas recorded on video equipment. Interpolation can be turned off, but then why bother spending more for a TV having that feature, if it will not be used.
120hz and up sets also can play bluray type content with 24 frame rate, without having to repeat some frames unevenly. How noticeable the difference is debatable.
That's mainly it. 60hz can actually be better for gaming than 120hz and up, because it is generally the additional image processing in 120hz+ sets that introduces lag. (Although all bets are off with this Sony Google TV, because with internet and all, it's got a lot to handle, and so can't comment on the lag some persons are finding.)

I am not liking the OS on the tv, too limited. I cannot delete the apps I do not want. After a while, the GUI becomes sluggish, i dont get the quick response as other tv when it comes to channel changing, etc. I bought two of them, looks like ill just sell them on ebay.

Bestbuy sold me an open box unit and passed it off as new. When I got home the TV was SMASHED and had finger prints and scuffs.
I went back and they treated me like a criminal and I had to wait 30 minutes to finally get a replacement and that was after countless arguing with them. They told me they'll show me the replacement and if anythings wrong its on me. Worst customer service ever... Just a FYI I was so angry, and now I am having the same lag reports as other users with HDMI hooking up my PS3..
This TV was definitely not worth the trouble.. If anyone has tips to reduce the input lag on this it would be a good TV but as it is now I don't know if I can recommend this to anyone especially gamers. Also can't recommend buying from BB

I got in on this deal the other day, LOVE the TV... saw it was back in stock at 7 AM and ordered 2 more. Sears price matching form wouldn't submit, so i took a screen shot of it and e-mailed it to them, in the 4 hours I wasted trying to submit it, best buy sold out and updated their price... luckily, I also ordered one from best buy, just incase.
After tax and gas perks from giant eagle I paid $552 + $634 - $120 = $1066 (or $533 per TV, after tax) STEAL.

I was lucky enough to get in on this deal this afternoon (early afternoon...) in Lawrence, KS. The store manager happened to be working and keyed in the code to allow the price match. Oddly enough, she went back into the customer service back office and took the price sticker with her :| apparently I was the last to get in on this here in town :D
Question though, has anyone had any trouble with calibrating the black and white levels? i disabled all the auto-enhancing features but my Monster/ISF calibration disc still doesnt affect the levels like it ought to...

Swung by the store shortly after it opened, on the way to a hike, and saw the price tag of 599.98. Didn't bother to try and get one, as it would have to sit in the car all day and I really didn't need one. Figured if I stopped by in the evening and the price tag was still up maybe I'd inquire. No dice, over the course of the better part of the day, I guess someone tried to buy it and they switched the price tags :D

I completely agree with this. I have a Samsing D7000 240Hz TV. Even in this TV, I see the fast action sequence, the background image vibrates and causes pain for the eyes. No TV is perfect even if it is 240Hz, while displaying fast action TV. I did not face any problems with 60Hz until now.

Got one of these yesterday after going in to get a couple games Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off. They had the 46 with a $598 price on it. Couldn't believe it but figured it was because they were gonna launch Google 2.0 TVs soon or something.
They questioned the price at the cash register saying it was a mistake, but I had the Best Buy page up to show them so I was able to snag one. It's a beauty really. Kind of a learning curve on all of the features, but once I programmed the remote I am cruising.

Plasmas may be better for you. I have seen Panasonic plasma tvs, they all lack the punch in brightness and contrast. When they are next to a samsung TV, plasmas look pathetic. It is my observation. may be at home, when there is no other tv nearby, plasmas may look good. They are being sold for less price for a reason. I agree, plasmas has come a long way, and still needs a long way to match LED quality. I am not starting an argument here, right out of the box, plasma looks dull and lifeless, particularly in stores, next to A samsung TV, they stand no chance.

I think its all about brand. I mean, my dad was happy going in to get the cheap 390$ insignia plasma saturday from best buy for his bedroom. But they had that TV set up and displayed right inbetween two panasonics and omg they just blew away the insignia. Which I knew they would, but my dad saw the difference and couldnt pull the trigger on the sale plasma. If he hadnt see it side by side of the better brands, he woud have been perfectly happy with it.
But glad he didnt, as sunday I saw the frontpage deal here and we rushed to best buy at 10am to get one for him. He really likes sony, his 60" he got 8 years ago or so is a sony along with the bedroom TV that just died (it was a crt and like a bazillion years old).
He was like a kid with a new toy yesterday with his new sony and all the internet options etc he has on it. Wouldnt even let my mom touch the new remote control. Told her she would have to use the old control for now until "he showed her how to work the new one". haha
Beauty of a tv is in the eye of the beholder and the beholders pricepoint :) I know many tvs would beat the crap out of my 60" dlp mitsubishi i got for $600 2 years ago, but im extremely happy with that price point for that size a tv heh..

I don't even know how to take this statement because you are putting brands against technology types and that's not even a relevant argument against what I've said. For the record, LED is still LCD with an LED back light and plasma has a better picture than LCD. Especially when you're talking about refresh rates and gaming which is what my post was about. If you want to get into contrast and color levels (blacks and realistic color reproduction) it's not even close. Plasma wins every time. LCD has it's place which is why I brought plasma up for those talking about refresh rates so I'm not saying it's horrible but for some things it's better. Personally, I don't care if my electric bill is a couple bucks higher a year, I want the best picture possible (refresh rate, contrast, black levels, etc.) so for me the choice is plasma. A lot of people choose LCD based on misinformation some store employee told them. I could waste another half hour listing all the 'facts' I've heard from people which are misconceptions about plasma.
No need to get into any of that here however since this is a thread about an LCD so we'll leave it at the fact that if someone is sensitive to the refresh rate of a plasma for whatever reason they should consider plasma technology as it doesn't have this problem and will likely meet their demands. Kind of like trying to figure out which mid-size sedan has the best tow rating when they could just as easily buy a truck designed for that purpose if they're aware the need exists. So, I'm not bashing mid-size sedans (LCDs in this case) just pointing out the fact they they do some things better than others so no need to turn this into a debate.

Amazon shipped mine today. Yesterday I was told my price adjustment was approved and they would make the adjustment after it shipped Anyone know how long this usually takes?

Anyone still waiting for their order to be shipped to store? When I ordered online at best buy, it showed that it'll be shipped to store & will be ready for pickup by 10th aug. Today I got an email from BB saying it has been shipped to the store and is on its way. But, I see that my order got deleted from my order history in the online account. That pisses me off. Did this happen to anyone?

By older orders, do you mean those which you ordered and received? If that's the case, I wouldn't worry much hoping that it's a generic problem with their order management & nothing related to this specific price.

Yes this could be a system issue

How did you get them to not include the best buy shipping? Amazon price matched it for me but + 70 dollars shipping for a credit of $290 or so.

I was on the phone with amazon when this deal was still on the first page. I told the amazon cs that it showed free shipping to me and he never questioned it. After my 3% chase cash back I got it for around $580 total.

PM through Sears, all was good until I picked it up and then I received an email that they could not PM because the TV was no longer available online. I sent a few emails back and forth to no avail. Made a call this morning and spent 30 minutes arguing with the CS rep. Told them to talk to their manager. Price Match was approved.
kinda jerked that they would pull something like this but I almost expected to have to negotiate it. Anyhow, i have the tv, and the discount, and it's pretty cool.

I pulled the trigger and picked up the tv. Really love it.
My job is in jeopardy right now and may have to move offshore.
Can someone kindly confirm if PAL works on this TV? Really want to take the tv with me instead of returning it to store.

You could always sell it on craigslist or something too. I mean its not a hard buy for a local person, especially since it still has its sony warannty etc.

The manager adjusted the price. He stated it was posted $598 somewhere but I didn't see it.
And still hoping for a good set of calibration settings to be posted...Anyone?
I tried various settings, the best I could find is, Use Vivid settings, reduce the colors a bit, and Turn off the Auto lighting sensor off. After turning of this sensor, the display looked very good for my eyes.

Very happy to get in on it, last one to get this deal (Monday) at this store. Manager had to OK it as the tv rang up at full price. They were confused as to the price tag, which fortunately for me was still there the day after I first saw it. The Internet is very fast, great picture for the money (even better at $598!). I also researched and the OS will be able to update easily when honeycomb is released on the new tv's.

Thx. So Amazon has not emailed me the tracking number and it is supposed to come in today. I will be at work all day so it looks like the office at my apt complex will have to take it. I hope amazon doesn't require a direct signature from me or else I will need to go to UPS myself since I cannot be home.

Yikes, I had something like this happen with an Amazon order as well. This typically happens if the TV is laid flat vs right side up. But hey, Amazon has tons of profits of cover all these shipping issues they have with TVs.

Well I hope Amazon gets money from insurance since it is entirely UPS's fault.

I was in a similar situation. I called to check on the "approved" price match and they said it was denied because it was a 1 day sale. I called again and then the lady gave me 3 different reasons, none of which is on the Sears price match policy, which I had to read to her. After 35 mins on the phone, she finally went ahead with the adjustment.
I seriously don't understand how a store like Sears can be hostile to their customers. Take Amazon for example, they don't "fight" the customers for their requests, in fact in my experience, they are 1 step ahead, many times I don't even have to ask.
Lesson well learned. Stay away from Sears (and the like). And thanks to your very first post, I did manage to get the price adjustment done.
Set up my TV yesterday. This thing is a beauty, looks like a giant iPad :D I have two more if anyone is interested in purchasing PM me :)
If so, where are you located? I really want one of these

For all those who purchased the tv, did you get a Squaretrade or other type of warranty on it? Is it worth it?
Since I went through sears price matching, I have a receipt that shows I purchased the tv for $1399. At the end of the day I only will have paid $519 after all the credits are in place.
I called up Squaretrade and asked at what price point I could purchase the coverage and they said it would be up to me and either level is fine. I imagine this means if I get the $1399 coverage and it breaks and they cant fix it, I will get a check for $1399.
Does that sound too good to be true? After applying a Squaretrade coupon code, I can get 4 years of coverage for $127 @ $1399 and $63 @ 518.
Thoughts?

I got my 100$ in points for 'buying' the TV at sears.com at 1399$.
Sears cancelled my order, but at least I got 100$ out of it.
