Hey guys, I'm just trying to drum up some support for the Slickdeals folding teams at both F@H (Folding @ Home) and UD (Grid.org). It's a great cause and takes very little effort to setup.

Here are the 2 previous threads started by CoW]8(0), any reps/props/thanks should go to him/her:
Folding for SD (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=56786&t=199461&highlight=folding)
Popularizing the Folding effort (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=56786&t=223899&highlight=folding)

See the teams here:
Actual F@H Stats home page (48 current members) (Team # 49191):
F@H Stats home page (http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=49191)

F@H stats page at Extreme Overclocking w/more detail for junkies like me:
F@H stats page @ EOC (http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=49191)

UD Stats page (25 current members):
Grid.org Stats (http://www.grid.org/services/teams/team.htm?id=45B3794A-BDE5-4490-9F64-E0D186C10C03)

Here are the download links for both programs:
F@H (http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html)
Grid.org (http://www.grid.org/download/gold/download.htm)

I have been using the UD agent for more than 2 years now and F@H for just a week and I haven't seen any problems. I play BF2 without issue while it is running, and I have an old Athlon XP 2600+ Barton. It only uses your idle CPU cycles, so whatever you are doing takes priority.

Anyway, just hoping that some new people will join and push our team even higher, we're ranked #778 now for F@H and on the rise (up 21 ranks in the last 7 days), and that we can get a sticky for this so more and more members and lurkers will see it and join. This community is huge and could really make a difference.

If anyone has any questions about either program just let me know by PM or in this thread and I'll answer your question or find the answer for you if I don't know (which is highly likely).

Thanks for listening/reading,
Jeremiah

Thanks for posting OP, I never go into the site suggestions forum. I will choose one of the two to sign up for.

Can you give me your opinions about which one I should do? Which has better interface, works better for you?

Sure, I've been using Grid.org longer (didn't know about F@H until recently) so I have more knowledge of that one. It has been stable all along, the interface has a more "modern" look than F@H. The reason I switched is 2 fold, on the grid.org forums Linky (http://forum.grid.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=19689) there were rumors that the Human Proteome project was done but was still being folded. Not sure how it turned out but it seems as though they don't put as much into the project as Stanford puts into F@H, and secondly, I'm a stats junky and the EOC page for F@H has me addicted...........
For F@H there are a ton of programs to download to help manage multiple computers and folding farms Linky (http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?t=79697)
and you can install multiple instances of F@H if you have dual core, which either isn't supported or very hard on the UD agent.
Also, they just announced that they will be partnering will Sony to fold on the PS3 Linky (http://folding.stanford.edu/FAQ-PS3.html) and can use ATI GPU's Linky (http://folding.stanford.edu/FAQ-ATI.html) to fold also, just seems like F@H is managed better and is advancing. I have 6 computers folding, 4 on F@H & 2 on UD. If you have lower than a 1 ghz, I would recommend UD, anything above, you can go either way. But my recommendation would be F@H.
F@H has 48 members right now and UD only 25 if that helps at all.

Hopefully I answered your question, let me know if you have anything further.
