View Full Version : New touchpad owners.... thoughts?
1. Man they weren't kidding about the limited apps. There's no google map equiv. that I can find that runs in full screen mode.
2. For this price (99/150) it's fine to just have a browser, e-reader, email device. but holy crap 599 for this? were they serious? doesn't even seem to have a real gps?!?
3. I've never seen such a firesale before, even after all the fun blackfridays I've had with you, even the lowes 90% coupons didn't seem to ignite like this did!
It was fun today! I have to admit if they even thought this thing was worth 500 or 600 bucks, the first thing they needed to do was get android on it. I personally am hardly going to use it until the android port is done.

Amazing how fast HP gave up on the tablet but I guess that's how you cut losses.

They must have planned it before it was released. They had to have known the problems and that it couldnt sell well if it didnt have android or iOS.
I played with it at BBY and liked it.

Haven't received mine yet but I wonder how this firesale 1)impacts peoples perception of webos?A lot of people are going to be first time webos users. 2)how will the firesale affect future tablet pricing. Do manufacturers continue pricing directy with Apple, take sme losses, or release at substatially lower prices.

But the problem now is, I've got mine, and I had put accessories in my cart last night @ 20% off, and was going to buy them this morning. HP has killed the 20 % off accessories, and now it's only 15% off AND you have to buy a touchpad at the same time to get those deals. SAVE15HP and SAVE30HP still work, but what's a brother to do about finding affordable accessories for a 100-150 dollar tablet?

$10 for the streaming only plan is -still- a good deal if you watch even a bit of TV.

Make sure you use the System Updates app to update to version 3.0.2. It's less buggy.

I will still have $8 streaming service, it's still a bargain. I hardly got DVDs anyway.
When will Silverlight have GPU acceleration! I want to be able to watch it on slow CPU devices without some bandaid solution. C'mon MS!

It's all good. It's just funny how a month ago everyone was all, "Oh, Netflix sucks, I'm quitting if they're gonna charge that much. They lost a customer," and now it's almost September and we're discussing how to make Netflix work with a tablet no one wanted until it was discontinued.

If anyone is interested in speeding their device up a bit, try disabling the built in logging.
Dial ##LOGS# in the dialer app and then press the button to set logging to minimal. There are also several patches available using preware, but keep in mind that this is for more advanced users. If you manage to get preware installed, try the following packages to further reduce loggin:
Muffle System Logging, Quiet Powerd Messages, and Remove Dropped Packet Logging
Also, you can overclock using the Uberkernel within Preware along with Govnah app to control the actual clock speed.

nope. Pressing power and face button at the same time for 10 sec helped. This was suggested by a person in another HP thread who had similar issue and the guy in BB helped it seems. Btw, I m typing this message from my new TP :)
