Please leave the site alone. Don't change what's running smoothly. You know as soon as they change this site everything is going to mess up. I say leave it alone.

Websites go through occasional redesigns. It is the way of things. While the new wave of "Web 2.0" alterations are frankly not my taste, it's not the end of the world.

One solution would be for you to help beta-test the redesigned version and make the transition smoother.

The new design is still in beta. And the owner of SD has shown his willingness to listen to our suggestions, by implementing quite a few of them already, so why not help him by telling him the things that you don't like about the new design? You never know, it may be something that he'd be willing to change or fix. :)

And, of course, also tell him if there are things that you like about it, or even what things you liked about the old design, so that hopefully he'll keep them :).

When I first started looking at the beta, I didn't like the colors and was hard on my eyes. Now ever since I started using the hybrid version, the original site is hard on my eyes. I tried the Ice version for a few days and don't like it - for me it's harder to see the deals, plus its the color of other sites and I like to see this site be unique.

There's 3 styles to choose from at the bottom of the page, try it out for a while and then see how it goes.

I personally am glad that it was not a "here is the new page, deal with it" mentality. It gives people time to offer suggestions and get used to the new format.

I've surfed this site quite often since 2003 , Have gotten many many many great deals (way too much money spent and saved, Mostly hard drives (can't resist them)), but don't have time to surf the net to find and post deals. Thank all of you at slick deals for that. I've come across a few and have posted them but I like the site the way it is. I don't want to learn a whole new way to find the things that I now automaticaly know where to go to.

I understand where you're coming from, 'cause I'm not overly fond of change either ;). And I, too, prefer the 'old' SD. But change is going to happen, and at least the powers that be here are willing to listen to us, implement some of our suggestions, and not just say 'here it is, deal with it'. (For which I'm very thankful and this is where I beg Mr. SD to keep the 'classic' skin choice, which is what I have to use because 'ice' and even 'hybrid' are still too hard on my bad eyes, no matter what font size I choose :)).

So, since changes are gong to happen, the best thing that we can do to help ourselves and Mr. SD is, IMHO, to keep letting him know what we do or do not like about those changes, so that he can take that into consideration.

Dang, I sound kinda preachy there, don't I? Sorry, I didn't mean to, it's just that in my experience, it's very rare for a site admin to solicit the opinions of their users, let alone actually listen to them when changing things around. So it just makes sense to me to give him the opinions that he's asking for, since he can't know what we do or don't like if we don't tell him. :)

Well said Widget. I have posted several comments in the Beta thread. I am not sure what I expected when I posted. I just felt that I wouldn't have any right to complain after the fact if I didn't participate in the Beta discussion.

You know what happened with my comments and suggestions (and the comments and suggestions of many others)? They were taken into consideration and addressed. Mr. SlickDeals himself answered my comments, directly and indirectly, with the Beta 2.0.

Change happens all around us all the time and I would assume that there is no way that change will not come to this site. You have an opportunity to have your voice heard. Participate in the Beta thread, with concrete suggestions of what you do or don't like. Saying 'change is bad and it scares me' isn't constructive. Point out the specific things you don't like and tell them why. The powers that be are paying attention and taking the comments into consideration.
