I went to the local Macy's store. And they had 4 racks full of mens dress shirts for only 9.95. Prettty good for shirts that usually sell for 40-50 dollars.

I'm in Dallas and whenever Macy's has one of their sales, the coupon is in that days paper, I know they are having one this weekend, so check Friday's paper (usually in the front section). There are different levels of cards:
Red- Spend $0-499 a year
Gold $500-999 a year
Silver $1,000-2,400 a year
Black $2,500+ a year

The more you spend, the more coupons you get. I think the red cards get coupons 4 times a year, and the black card holders get a seemingly never ending parade of coupons. More than likely that lady had a higher level card than you.

You can get the 11% off coupon from the giftwrap department. It is for people who are from out of town. You just have to show your ID and as long as the address is approximately 100 miles away they'll give you a pass. Basically you can get one every time you shop at Macy's if you have an ID to use. For example, I technically live in LA, but go to school in San Diego so I can get one of those passes by presenting my driver's license. Never occurred to me to do this until now though.... =P

At least this is how it worked at the Macy's I was employed at. I don't know how a printed copy would work...if you got away with it your cashier must have been new/not or poorly informed and trained.

They only review the card levels once a year around February and the new cards are sent out at the beginning of March. I guess you could buy tons of stuff in Feb, and return it after you get the black card. The only downside is that you would get charged up the butt in interest if your card turns over while you have all of the stuff charged.

It would probably be easier to go for the silver card (1,000+) because they get almost all of the same benefits.

To my knowledge there is no FF available. I was told there were available twice a year. I had a really nice lady that told me about the FF before it came out so we held out until it came out. Also, I think most of the time they only give you 15% for the new acct, but when we opened they were offering the 20% off. The only way I see you getting some discounts its by openning a new acct and getting the 20% new acct (you might need to check as far as when they offer the 20% instead of the 15%) and maybe the 15% for using your macy's cc.
