This is selling for $45 at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00339C378/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0058G805S&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0A03V53CGJKVHFPVEGH7) and other sites. I was looking at the headlight/lantern combo (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=871851&t=3300512) and saw this deal.

Seems like a good concept and Amazon and other sites have good reviews for it. One reviewer on Amazon for the Quad version (http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000001150-LED-Quad-Lantern/dp/B001TS71NG/ref=pd_bxgy_sg_text_c) said the NiMH batteries in the panels are common AAA size, so when the NiMH batteries die they can be replaced easily. I'm hoping this is the same with the Duo version.

It turned out to be $26.75 with tax and shipping, almost $20 savings from Amazon. I never used Meijer before... resellerrating.com (www.resellerratings.com/store/Meijer) was not confidence inspiring, but I thought I'd try them anyway.

Wow, amazing deal. Much better for backup lighting vs the other coleman deal.

Btw, Meijer is a major store in Michigan and the surrounding states. It is much more popular than Target or Walmart in this area.

For $3.45 more, you are probably better off with the Rayovac SE3DLN Sportsman Xtreme. It uses one less D-battery, produces double the lumens, and has a much higher runtime.

Coleman lanterns without camp fuel (gasoline)/propane is like Energizer without batteries.

Do these work? Certainly. Do they work for a week? No. Are they as bright as the fuel driven lanterns? No. Are the batteries cheaper/lighter(per joule) than liquid fuel? Also No.

Nice price, but there's no getting away from gas. Even if you do buy an electric lamp, you still can't cook on it.

I have a Solar setup around 50 watts, and this thing with my current XPS rechargeable batteries are perfect.

Do these work? Certainly.
Do they work for a week? maybe even forever with the help of the solar panels.
Are they as bright as the fuel driven lanterns? No but they are not as hot and you can put these inside your tent without the risk of fire. They can also easily be turned on and off.. You need instant light in times of sudden blackout, not rubbing your flints to make fire.
Are the batteries cheaper/lighter(per joule) than liquid fuel? No, but with the solar charger they become renewable and will soon become cheaper in the long run of use.

So if there is a big earthquake (knock on wood) and no power for 1-2 months, where will you get your gas if there will be no more supply?

Nice price, but there's no getting away from gas. Even if you do buy an electric lamp, you still can't cook on it.. This is one good thing about gas lamps, you can actually grill the bugs flying around.

All in all, depending what setup you already have at home, this is a great item to have.. Be prepared!
