View Full Version : Excluding Threadcrappers from Posting....

I am getting very tired of certain people continuing to thread crap Hot Deals with mindless negative posts that have no relevance except to make an otherwise good deal look bad. I seriously believe that these people come from other forums (FW) to sabotage Slick Deals and discourage people from posting deals. I have seen a trend in every HD thread that I have started in the recent 4-6 months. The responses have been hostile and very off topic as well.
I purpose that a member who has maybe a minimum of over 1000 to 2000 posts and can have an option to exclude certain people from posting in their threads. I would like to exclude anyone with under 500 posts from saying anything in my HD threads. I would also like the option to exclude certain individuals from posting on any of my threads, regardless of post count. :chairbash
I don't know how some of you guys keep on posting HD threads with all this negativity out there but I know that some of you senior folk are getting tired of it too. :celerylift:

You are not the only one. It has been like this for a long-time. You can always use the ignore feature or... join the lounge.
This should be the lounge/site suggestions. :P

On one occasion, I mod alerted a thread crapper post because the TC was beating up a noob and the deal was slick. The mod deleted the TC's post.

Please mod alert these posts and bring them to our attention. With thousands of new posts every single day, we can't read them all. We need your help to police these forums through the use of the mod alert feature.

Good suggestion, GT! :)
(the ability to make that decision as the OP, not necessarily an automatic ban on posting if you have less than 500 posts...)
My only question would be whether rep count would be a factor more appropriate than post count? Not sure what you think.. but when I watched someone reach 1100 posts in 2 days I lost all faith in post count.

They'll pull the post for you right away. I think it's much better than ignore, because I don't want others discouraged or encouraged by that stuff in my threads either... that and it helps the mods establish a pattern of that user...if there is one.

That's a bit harsh, dont'cha think? We all started at zero... and there are lots of great SDers with less than 500 posts.
I agree about the TC, but I have faith that if the TC gets modalerted the repeat offenders will be taken care of.

I enjoy this forum alot, but often just don't have the time to be active enough to climb to 1000 posts.

Rather than an arbitrary post count, I'd rather see an arbitrary time limit. I'd set it at 1 year, if you haven't been a member for at least a year you can't post in my thread. So the OP of this thread would be out of luck

I think the Mod Alert suggestion is better & easier to do.

:iagree: Lots of people contribute and have questions (without threadcrapping) that have less than 500 posts...
