Is there any possible way to make the site appear the way it used to? This "new and improved" is a pain in the ss

Not positive, I don't think so. You'll get used to it. :)

If you liked the old theme, scroll to the bottom and change "Hybrid" to "Classic". You will still get the new features with the old style.
You can also go to your User CP options and make it "Classic" as well. You will also have to delete your cookies while doing this to make this change stick.

It's better to just get used to it than go back to classic.
Graphic appearances will be diminished, keep it in hybrid.

"Pain in the ss" is not very discriptive about what you don't seem to care for. Being more specific would help us address your concern.

Have anyones concerns been addressed up to this point? Or is the hope that everyone will eventually quit complaining as they forget how good the forums used to look and adjust to the new look?

has anyone given any constructive criticism about what they don't like, why and what they would prefer?
just saying "old one looks better" doesn't really make it so we can change things....

I did, and it worked (http://forums.slickdeals.net/t336091.html). It just took time as the development team is quite busy... Also the fact that I was constructive, poignant and helpful made it easier. ;)
Maybe I should have tried the vague, attacking, roundabout approach. That might have helped expedite my request. I could have shaved days off the time! :ranting:

I saw many posts with complaints and ideas on how things could be made better, including several of my own. I'm just wondering if anyone is reading them or if they are all being ignored.
For example there has been discussion about the quote boxes and how bad they look. Especially with the Ice format, which I would probably be using if there was a contrast in the background color between the quote and the post like there is in Classic and Hybrid.
I'm not saying something should be changed just because I think it should, but I wish someone would at least address the concerns.

Yep, that was a problem and I participated in that thread as well. If the icons have indeed been changed then I can't see the difference. They may be better for others but with my color deficiency I still have to look directly at them to see if I posted in a thread or not. The ones that had a distinct color difference were good, the old arrow ones were the best.

Since you are participating in the thread you already know the outcome and the direction that issue is going... Seems odd that you would ask if any issues were being address since you already knew the answer. :look:

I see you deleted the part accusing me of trolling in this thread.
Fark you Lux. All of my suggestions about the changes I would like to see have been well thought out and I haven't done it in the ways you seem to want to imply with your sarcastic posts. If you have an axe to grind with me take it to the Lounge. I came to the Site Suggestion forum thinking maybe there would be someone serious about getting suggestions and I get personal attacks from someone who is supposed to be a mod.
I've kept up with the other thread about the icons but never noticed that any changed had been made so I figured it was in the works. If they have been changes then I can't see the improvement.

Thanks *why guy*. but *how guy* already gave a remedy.
It shouldn't matter "why". Why guys want to know why you want to something, usually after answering questions you end up with "read the manual, google it, or that isn't a good idea".
Then there are how guys. How guys explain how it's done, similar to the poster a few posts up from you.

If it wasn't for change, we would still be using version .0001 (http://web.archive.org/web/20000301130145/http://www.slickdeals.net/). (:O) We have the classic skin for those who don't like the new colors. IMO, it looks virtually identical (sidexside comparison (http://i.slickdeals.net/images/slickdeals/comparesd2.jpg)) and yet people still think it's different. I understand it's not the same warm fuzzy pillow you're used to everyday but it still needs to be replaced because of that drool stain. :)

I'm glad you're providing suggestions Iaaaiws. It would have been better if you did so during the 1.5 month long beta in which you were well aware of. We're not going to implement every suggestion regarding aesthetics or everything will be mismatched. If we agree, we'll make the changes.
The quote box color can be made slightly darker. Too dark and it starts to look like classic again. A lot of this is personal preference. I can change it to suit you and someone else will disagree. ie. I happen to like the quote boxes. I've tried several colors and don't like them. If you want to try different colors, go ahead. Again, if we like it (no pink please), we'll make the change.
There comes a time where we must put our foot down and continue forward. There are multiple projects in the queue we'd like to work on.

Finally, a response that deals with the questions instead of sarcastic insults. Thanks Mr. Slickdeals.
Regarding the quote boxes, I guess I first have what may be a stupid question. In the Ice skin, is the background color inside the quote box the same color as the background in the rest of the post? That has been my whole hangup on the Ice skin because I can't distinguish between the two other than the outline and the bar that says "Quote" If they are the same then that is what I have been saying should be changed, if even slightly. But being somewhat color-blind it may be that I am just not able to see the difference.
I don't have this problem with either the Classic or the Hybrid(which I am currently using). I actually prefer the Ice skin so that is why I have been pushing for the change in the quote box. I initially suggested that the font size should be different for the quote text but after using it for a while I realized it was just the similarity between the backgrounds that was the real problem for me. If there is already a difference that I am just unable to see then that is fine and I will deal with it.

The top of the quote box is gray and the bottom is white so yes it is the same color.
