It is not sold out.
Although your first attempt at accessing may reflect "sold out" try refreshing the screen or closing the screen and reopening as you should be able to add to cart. Some users have had success by trying another computer or another browser as well.

Cowboom has a different shopping cart model than you might be used to. When you add something to your cart, that item is reserved for you until you remove it from your cart or until a certain amount of time passes and the item is removed automatically. You will likely see this go in and out of stock for a while. A common complaint is that you need to point the remote directly at the front of the unit for it to work. The menu system is also not very intuitive in my opinion. One cool thing about this player is that it actually has a nano-sized 150Mbps 802.11n USB wireless adapter plugged in on the back which you could use with a computer if you wanted to. I wasn't able to get any other USB wireless adapters to work, even ones with the same chipset so this player seems to be tied to a certain device/vendor ID. excerpt from dch014's post.

Also, Player is Region Free....AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT UPDATE!!!!!!!!

Son of a b****! This is the 3rd refurbbed Insignia blu-ray player I've bought from cowboom in the past 4 months. My 2nd of this specific model. Is a blu-ray player addiction a valid problem? Or do I just have to call it a hobby and move the f*** on...?

I have this player, its a solid unit, a couple things I don't like about it though, you can't view subtitles on netflix via this player nor can you use a generic universal remote. You must use a remote with a programmable jp1 interface, be willing to custom program a certain generic model, (tedious work and time consuming) or buy a harmony or just put up with having yet another remote to keep up with.
Other than that, this is a solid unit and I enjoy mine and I paid twice this for it.

This has only one HDMI out.
NO SD card Slot, though it would be great watching movies which are ripped on SD card.
Specification also showing WiFi build in but not Wifi ready...don't know what is the difference between WiFi ready and WiFi build in, isnt its the same thing?
Amazon has mixed mostly negative review? What gives, with 2 years warranty of $9 its not bad.
Also cart is not working in FireFox.

Just placed the order and had no issue using Firefox, but prepared for cancellation seeing how their stock goes in and out.

Here is the product page: http://insigniaproducts.com/products/blu-ray-dvd-players-recorders/NS-WBRDVD2-CA.html
They have a firmware update as of July'11, so after you receive the player, make sure it is updated. I haven't researched if the newer firmware has any disadvantages though.

Best Buy exclusive brands
Insignia - Focuses on discount electronic equipment such as HDTVs, Blu-ray players, home theater systems, digital imaging and GPS devices. It's the company's signature house brand that competes with more well known brand names.

Also, I got my confirmation right away.

WIFI ready means you have to buy an adapter. Built in means it should be ready to go.

Thanks buddy I figured that out as well, which mean this one was better than Panasonic one which are selling like hot cake in Fry's for $120 with WiFi ready, of course it may have many more things but buying a $90 adapter to use Wifi is ridiculous.

Really? You can't compare those reviews you listed to the 444 google reviews I listed. Seriously, two sites you provided had only 10 user reviews. And the third you provided only had two user reviews. You really need to pay attention to the number of reviews not just the "stars.". Oh and if I bought if off that last link you provided (yeah the amazon one for $199 + shipping) I probably wouldn't like it either because I would be bitter that others got it for only $44.

Please do not buy this Blu-ray player. It takes forever to load discs and the remote is so frustrating. There is no code for a universal remote replacement. You would be better served to buy a new, Panasonic BD75 from Fry's, which is on sale every other week for $59.99.

What is "forever"? Will a harmony drive it?

Just keep in mind if you are buying this for netflix access - they stop updating their firmware for these models very quickly.

It will never do more than it can do now and it will likely have all the bugs it has now.

ie. you'll never be able to access other online services, they just will not add them

I have the brdvd3 model and it has all sorts of quirks and limitations, and they aren't updating it any further.

Going to say it takes a full 1-2 mins before video starts. Seems trivial but it feels like a long time. I don't own a harmony, but I believe that I've read that you can't use anything. I've tried multiple remotes with manual programming to no avail. You will notice that the remote for this unit only works within 6 ft and only at the same level pointing exactly 90 degrees at the machine. The remote is the most ridiculous part of the frustration. You will wish you paid $20-$30 more for a different player after using this thing for a week. I'mjust trying to prevent everyone from falling into the same trap I did. This is the ultimate example of you get what you paid for.

Well, it looks like I got a shipping confirmations so I will let you know how this player is.

As long it can play the blu disks and can do Netflix, then it will be a worthwhile purchase.

Just got mine delivered. There is a visible crack and a scratch on the front glass/plastic, but it is not too visible, so I guess OK ... as long as it is functional. I haven't tested it yet.

Update: So far tried only Netflix functionality and it was smooth. As soon as I connected to the network, it asked me to update and it finished with no issues, but YMMV on this, as there are tons of issues reported on their forums. It didn't find my wifi ssid, but when I entered it manually it connected fine to my 802.11n network (linksys e3000 running tomato firmware). I signed up for netflix trial through Mr. Rebates, which should give me 2 months of free service in theory. I don't have any BD's to try, so can't comment on that yet.

I noticed some folks bought warranty on this, and I am wondering how. Did I miss it as part of the checkout process? May be I can still purchase it now?

Update2: The latest firmware update disables the region free hack, but you can get it back by updating the previous version. I don't know if I would need it, but just in case I downloaded it and saved it, just in case they might remove it in the future.

Ordered on the 21st of October, finally UPS delivered it today. I open the box and there is just the DVD player on a cardboard box with no manual and no remote. WTF.

I called Cowboom and the CS woman was like we'll search for the missing parts but will take at least 5 days and will send me an e-mail. WTH.

I guess I should just return this and buy a "regular" decent blu-ray player.

I just received mine as well and the remote is cracked with two large pieces broken loose. I think mine is going back as well. I don't like the limited streaming options and I don't watch that many blue rays or DVDs. I also just got the Sony Media center which was on here ar $40. It is a much better option for my needs.

I e-mailed CS because I didn't believe what the woman told me on the phone about looking for a remote and a manual. The response was that they don't have any manuals or remotes on stock and would take $7 off to buy my own remote. I wrote back to say no, that they should issue a RMA and send me a shipping label since I'm not paying to ship this back to them when this was their fault.

I received this yesterday but will try it out tonight since my home was without power due to the stupid snow storm here in the NE. Everything looks ok but we'll see.

It came with a remote located on the side but no instructions since there is a piece of paper stating to get it from the website. LOL

I just plugged it in and played a new blu-ray and it seems to work good along with the netflix.

Do you think I should update the firmware since a new one is available???

Thoughts

The new firmware disables region free hack, so if that is important for you, you might not want to update. I wanted to update anywy because, I have seen reports of disabled players after an update and I wanted to see if this could happen to me while I am in the warranty period. I realize, this does not preclude it from happening from another update in the future, so it might have been unnecessary.

I almost feel bad saying that I too received mine all in one piece with remote. Plugged & played, works great! As with some other Wi-Fi enabled products I have purchased, there was a notice telling me that the user manual, firmware update & product info were available online.

I did do firmware update, no problems. Someone mentioned streaming capabilities...I use Roku:worship:, so for me this blue-ray does not offer up the streaming capabilities that I need, want or am accustomed to. But for anyone who has no other way to stream, this is great! or for streaming in a diff room...

One thing I do agree with is that Cowboom has LOUSY customer service!!! So I feel for everyone who got a bad or broken unit!!

Do you or anyone else know if you can search for titles on Netflix with this player? I read you can't but there may have been an update since.

Sorry for the late response, yes, my netflix is searchable and I did update it once, but not since last christmas.

Wondering if anyone has the firmware from the beginning of 2011 (the one that the player came with). I updated to the firmware from Jun 2011 as soon as I received it, and downloaded the previous firmware that was linked in case I want to backout, but I somehow managed to download the wrong firmware (the one with -CA in its model). That firmware is no longer available from Insignia because they only keep the last 2 versions and there are at least 2 versions since then. I would appreciate if anyone can share it.

Nm.. I found it after an extensive search here: http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=190357
