How do you create a RSS feed for one of the forum subgroups??

Depending on your RSS reader, you would use the server address as
forums.slickdeals.net or http:// in the front (if required)
and for location you would use
external.php?type=rss&forumids=9 (for Hot Deals for example)

OK. Forgive my lengthy post, but I really want to get my RSS working for SD. I have been trying to simply get a feed of the Deal Talk forum to load on my homepages. I have tried with both Yahoo! Homepages and Google Homepages. BTW, I am using Firefox RSS (not livebookmarks). First, when I just do the generic click of the RSS icon in the URL bar, it loads the content into my homepages. But non of the content is displayed properly. Both of the readers seem to just pick at random topics and publish them, completely ignoring the fact that there is tons of newer content that should be in its place. I have tried pretty much every combination of content settings on both homepages, and it still doesn't display properly.
So, I try the manual Add RSS by URL feature. Just as a test, I try redsolar's suggestion Depending on your RSS reader, you would use the server address as
forums.slickdeals.net or http:// in the front (if required)
and for location you would use
external.php?type=rss&forumids=9 (for Hot Deals for example)Trying this way just yielded an error telling me that no information can be found for that URL. So then I try the URL of the actual Deal Talk forum: http://forums.slickdeals.net/forumdisplay.php?sduid=71916&f=30
Yahoo tells me it can't find the RSS for that URL. And Google ignores the fact that I want a specific forum feed, and instead just publishes content from ALL of the SD forums.
I realize this is an old thread, but I thought my issue was related. Can anyone give me any tips on what I can do to get these feeds to display properly? I'd like to stay with an in-browser homepage reader, if possible. Thanks in advance.

The RSS feed that you click on defaults to new threads only, which might be the reason why you're not seeing tons of newer content.
All the RSS parameters are listed at the url below:

Rather than getting postings to the forums, I'd just like to get the new postings to the slickdeals home page. Can this be done? I didn't find anything on this topic when I searched the site. Of course, if I was any good at searching, I wouldn't need RSS feeds so things can find me...
Thanks in advance for any help.

I said I looked and couldn't find it, so you tell me to look first. You should learn to read, and lighten up.
...and, thanks for the help. The link you posted is exactly what I was looking for.

:secret: I don't think that _TMK_ was specifically telling you to look first. "The SD FAQ megathread. Please read before creating a thread or posting a question!" is the actual title of the thread with the information you wanted that he was linking to for you. :)
(And it's a great post/thread, with a compilation of most of the questions that get asked often, and the actual answers ta' boot! Well worth reading for all of us. ;))
