Let's say I just got a new something (could even be a "deal") and I'd like to simply post my personal experience with it. Where would that go?
I propose a new section for people to read practical accounts of others' experiences with real products. This way, you could also find out who owns what and know who to PM for specific questions.

i like this idea. not just for new items, just any item in particular. i trust the people on these sites more than epinions where i always get the sneeky feeling that the manufacturer gets people to write glowing reviews.

The focus needs to stay on deals, otherwise I think that is an excellent idea.

A deal isn't a deal on a crappy item, not matter how little you can get it for (if you can get it free or get paid for it, that's different). It gets tedious reading through a lot of posts about how good the product is, or how bad the product is, especially if the deal comes around fairly frequently. With a place for product reviews, one link will suffice to cover all posts about the quality of the product, features, pros, cons, etc. Then the deal thread will be able to focus more on the actual deal

I agree with you mmathis, I did say that I thought it was an excellent idea.
All I'm saying is that the main focus of SD should be the deals, this would be a good addition.
