View Full Version : The Rules on Posting "Sexually Graphic Images" and "Nudity" Need Clarification

Query: Can posting a pic of a woman in conventional shorts and a tank top covering 99% of the breasts garner a warning?
Answer: Yes.
The rules on this really need to be refined. The system is unpredictable and highly subjective - too subjective.
Maybe (and I say this in all seriousness) no images of humans in anything other than burkas should be allowed on SD.

Must have been a hell of a 1% exposed!

No. It was the very, very bottom of her breastesest.
She was washing a car, wearing a tank top, and you could just get a bare glimpse of the shape, firmness and texture of her mammaries.
No nipples - not even cleavage.

Consider this:
You are a manager, and walk by an employee's office. (S)He happens to have that thread open to that very large pic of a gorgeous blond washing a car.
It doesn't matter if the girl was 99% covered or not. The fact is that we need to be able to keep SD work friendly. Not everyone has a cool boss that would let a pic like that slide.

We tend to let the lounge go a little too far at times when it comes to sexually-oriented posts, but when it comes to pics we need to ensure that SD is strictly work-friendly.

I can agree with this 100%, but not every edit/deletion deserves a warning.
Are there zero-point warnings? Just kind of an "FYI: this was deleted. Don't do it again."
random.

That's what a warning is to me. You have to get 10 to get your first 7 day ban, I think, so it doesn't seem too bad.

Yes, there are. I rarely use them, but some of the other mods do.
If I'm going to take the time to issue a warning, that warning is going to count.
wtf, why should the lounge be 'work friendly'?
Furthermore, if you're surfing the lounge at work you deserve anything you get.

I agree that the lounge (and every forum) should be family friendly and work friendly. I keep SD up during my work hours and check in once in a while. Doesn't affect my work at all.
I mean hot deals and all but comeon, the lounge?

Even though I am on SD at work most of time, I disagree. I don't think it should be a rule to keep it work friendly. I'm sure being on this site at all is against the internet policy at all of our companies.
Back when we had this issue come up, Mr SD himself even said that Maxim Magazine style photos are acceptable. When did this change?

Let's be realistic, SD is here to make $$$, we're here to save $$$ and find a slick deal.
You have plenty of sites to see all the exposed body parts you want. The mods are here to keep a happy balance. You keep the majority of people coming back but keeping the extremes in check.
And SD has competition, if they fail to provide a service people want (and respect), then the consumer (and all the clicks to other websites that give income to SD) will go elsewhere.
They're not fools...nudity and vulgar language don't make you money unless you're a porn site. Some people like to push the limits of common sense (and decency).
