$100 bundle + $50 GC dead 12/11, $80 bundle no GC for 12/11-12/17. There's still some notes about the Vitality and speakers in here if anybody can use them.
BB flyer advertises $150 + $50 GC, but register and even online gives $100 + $50 GC with a good amount of inventory (based on Los Angeles area store availability). Amazon and BB lists the phone by itself for $80, and Amazon lists the speakers by itself for $100. Note that eBay/Amazon resellers are already reselling for $70-75 for the phone, open package or even no box, and $65-70 for the speakers, so moneymaking is unlikely or minimal after BB sales tax/eBay/amazon/paypal/shipping takes their cuts, but one option is to buy the bundle just for 1 or 2 of the items (phone, speakers, GC) and reselling the rest to make bigger discount. (eBay/Paypal takes a total of about 12% cut, and USPS priority mail is $10 minimum; if selling/shipping 1 item at a time. In-pocket net sale is about the same between eBay and Amazon, considering the pricing needed to stay competitive with other resellers.)
The $100+$50 GC does not seem to be a mistake, the flyer seems to be the one mistaken, since the $100+$50 pricing has been available in stores for at least 3 days now, and there's still stock at least in Los Angeles/West L.A. area. The +$50 GC offer is for the flyer good until 12/10 (Saturday), so check again on Sunday for updates.
Misc. notes:
-It is possible to use the Vitality without getting Cricket service, leaving a decent pocket media/app player with 3-megapixel camera and bluetooth that can still go online with wifi. GPS too, but unless you get offline map apps, not very useful. You'll almost definitely want to get a bigger microSD if you skip the service.
-Vitality can take up to 32gb microsd, but it cannot be formatted to work with Muve
-The bundle has an unactivated phone, and instructions say activation requires calling via another working phone or going online but shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.
-Vitality is rootable
-Vitality is an update/revision of earlier Samsung Admire and can probably take the same custom-fitting accessories (TPU case, etc)
-Vitality is CDMA phone, no SIM. Not sure which network it piggybacks on (Sprint or Verizon), and no good search hits on flashing the phone to work with another carrier besides Cricket.
-Phone takes only Cricket's $55 Android Muve plan (http://www.mycricket.com/cell-phone-plans/plan/55_ps3), trying to add the Samsung Vitality + any other plan on Cricket's website shows the plan cannot be purchased. I don't know what would happen if someone bought a prepaid card separately and tried to activate it with this phone.
-The $55/month plan is no contract though, and includes 1000 minutes, unlimited 3G and multimedia messaging, and Muve unlimited music download service.
-Muve requires an active $55/month service to not just download but also listen to any music downloaded, and a special Muve-formatted microsd must be used in the phone to use Muve. This Vitality comes with 4gb Muve-formatted microsd, but Cricket's FAQ (http://www.mycricket.com/muve-music/faqs) says it can hold 3000 songs, although only 1gb is available for user use.
-Cricket's FAQ also says an 8gb Muve microsd is available that can hold 6000 songs (and probably leaves 2gb for the user).
-Samsung's specs/info (http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SCH-R720ZRACRI)
-Cricket's specs/info (http://www.mycricket.com/cell-phones/details/samsung_vitality_r720)
-Monster's specs/info (http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=5916) on the speakers. The silver one included in this bundle is "iClarityHD", and Monster makes a black "ClarityHD" that adds a previous/next media button.
-Amazon's ClarityHD/iClarityHD page (http://www.amazon.com/Monster-MBL-CLY-SPKR-BT/dp/B003TFEHMU)

How to buy/replicate deal (good as of 12/7)
0) buy online, for shipping only (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+Vitality+No-Contract+Phone,+Speaker+%26+$50+Best+Buy+Gift+Card+Package/9999171800050005.p?id=pcmprd171500050005&skuId=9999171800050005&childSku=1217833&count=2) (available as of 12/8)
OR
0) check in-store stock online, but don't buy online through this link (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?id=pcat17006&type=page&sourceId=1218431526513&sourceType=product&skuId=3725822&productId=1218431526513&itemId=1654694&contract_desc=2+YEARS+NEW&pageMode=searchmode) (don't do in-store pickup either, this link doesn't include $50 GC, and CSR's can't do a return/rebuy on same day of pickup without doing some kludgy workarounds, like scheduling the return for the end of the day, which risks someone forgetting and you're out product and refund with only word of mouth as proof)
1) in store, grab up to 2 or 3 of the bundles: mostly white box with green Cricket label on top and blue band in the middle, with picture of the red smartphone with the silver speakers. (I'd add photos, but I'm lazy to get the camera). Everything except the GC is in one package, located in:
0) (SKU 3725822 if you'd like a random employee to take 10 seconds to check; UPC 711868000476 on back of box if you'd like to make sure)
i) Cricket stand up column display
ii) regular shelf display, may be next to other no-contract phones
iii) ask people in phone department, they'll have them in their cabinet behind them or in the back
2) purchase through the phone dept employee that helped you or go straight to registers. The following assumes your store uses the same pretty up-to-date point-of-sale system; ymmv if your store has older POS (double meaning intended)
a) bring a blank gift card (for each bundle, can do multiple on same receipt) to register to save time
b) decline protection plan
c) tell them to select option (a) "handset only"; this is the same as "no activation"
d) wait for them to be forced by the system to add the $50 gift card (the system won't let you check out without that GC)
e) check your receipt for $99.99 for each bundle, and a GC for each bundle with $50 balance
This is a nice deal, I'd even be able to accept some wait as long as there's some orderly queuing, and it's easy enough to decline any upsells. Or just order online and pick up in store.
As of 12/6, return period goes all the way out to Jan. 24. BB return policy also doesn't list any restocking fee or restrictions on this if opened, but you'll probably have to return the bundle and the matching GC (GC's record a unique serial number on the receipt with each bundle, but I can't see the serial number on the card itself, so try not to mix up your GC's).

Damn! This is a smoking deal!! I picked up this bundle the other day withOUT the $50gc for $109 otd. I already sold the phone alone on ebay for $109 - fees and shipping = $95. So I get to keep the Monster speaker for $14. I have no idea why someone would buy this phone on ebay for $109 when it being sold in Amazon for $80, and there's this bundle available on BB. I'm gonna buy more to flip!!!

Check your local Best Buy's people...there is something going on with the "IN STORE AVAILIBITY" checker on the bundle page. Check HERE (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Cricket+-+Muve+Samsung+Vitality+No-Contract+Mobile+Phone+with+Monster+iClarity+Speaker+-+Red/3725822.p?id=1218431526513&skuId=3725822&st=Vitality&cp=1&lp=2) for actual stock in your area.
A) Cricket uses same network as Virgin and Boost so if you're currently using them, this is a great offer. If you're about to pay $55 to top up another month you can spend $50 more and get A phone, BT speaker, and a months worth of service with Cricket! + Unlimited MUSIC downloads!
B) The Monster ClarityHD sells for $95 alone on Amazon and it sounds great. Not JAMBOX great, but for this price it's amazing!
C) There are all sorts of things you can do with a stock android phone. My wife uses hers as an MP3 player (Most MP3 players don't have bluetooth...problem solved!) , I use one as a Boxee remote, and I'm giving one to my Grandma to play solitaire and cribbage on. At this price be creative! This phone has Wi-Fi and you don't need to activate it. (Although I would recommend it. MUVE Music is AMAZING!)

Is it bundled together in the store, or did you have to piece it together and bring everything up to the counter?

The phone and speaker are bundled in the same box. When you go to ring it up, the register will prompt the cashier to swipe a gift card and it will put $50 on it for you. You can just grab an empty gift card on your way to check out or lots of times they will have them handy at the register.

if you are planning to flip them on ebay, think once again. There are hardly any buyer for this phone. There was one item unsold due to reserved price not met. Highest bidding was only $41. Every hour, you can see new seller cropping outfor this phone. I also placed phone only for sell to recoup some money. Seems like I have to end my item and return it to bestbuy. All I want was bluetooth speaker not a phone.

per receipt: "products purchased as gifts may be returned through jan. 24, 2012." My particular error was using the gift cards to pay for another batch; they track the code on the receipt for the GC that came with the bundle, and I'm not sure if I can even talk them into just buying another GC to do the return.
I'm wondering if it'd be better if this thread blew up on FP or if kept under. As it is, there were good stocks at the BB's I checked, and it's day 3 since thread started, and web orders are back up at $100. This may have been an error, but I'm thinking the flyer is the one that's incorrect, and the register system correct.
Amazon and BB are $80 for the phone, and I believe everyone here knows Monster accessories are grossly marked up. $100 total for phone and speakers seems plausible to be at cost, and $50 GC just means more inventory going out.
Personally I think BB's making lemonade out of lemons: bundles weren't selling, ebay flippers like cheap lemonade, and it turns out the lemonade is yellower than it should be...

Let us know as I am thinking since this phone is in the smartphone category you need to pay $45/month ....if that is the case might as well go to Virgin Mobile for Android service at $35/month. Not sure if there is a way to use a Cricket Phone and pay $35 for the Virgin Mobile service ("flash" to Virgin Mobile, have no idea how to do this)...otherwise it would be just cheaper to avoid this phone and buy a Virgin Mobile Android phone instead in the long run.

This is a smart phone and the rates vary depending on where you live, but most are $55 plans. That can include unlimited minutes or 1,000 again depending on where you live. The $35 Virgin Mobile plan is only 300 minutes and if you step up to their 1,200 plan you're at $45 anyway. I'm happy so far for my $55/mo plan because it includes unlimited music downloads with the MUVE app. I'm saving at least $20-$30/mo from buying tracks on amazon.

This really should be FP. It's a terrific deal to get a 32gb media/app player (BB sells Kingston 32gb microsd for $40) or try out full smartphone features with Cricket for a month of $55 Android Muve service (the only service that works with this phone). eBay/Amazon the speakers to get $50 back in pocket after fees (or CL for a few bucks more back). Or split up the phone, speakers, and gift card into 3 stocking stuffers with about $30-70 value for each.
This isn't really a profit maker after the 2-3 unit arbitrary limit, b/c of the potential for price wars, but reselling some of the items does still give good discount on what you want to keep. eBay has some of the open, often box-less phone sets (no speakers) sold for $75 despite the brand new sealed phone sets selling on Amazon and BB for $80 (who knows where else). The speakers: there's a black version with an extra previous/forward media button that has sold for $70, but few/no silver speakers on eBay. Amazon resellers are similar for final in-pocket sales. Just remember that eBay+Paypal/Amazon and shipping takes a cut unless unloading via CL.
BTW, the 2-3 limit really is arbitrary: it's easily possible to just go in multiple times, maybe even go to the same register if they don't care or remember you, all in the same visit, one after another, and get additional 2-3 per receipt. Most BB's I saw said 2 limit, but there was at least 1 that said 3 limit. I doubt the register even knows a limit, it's all employee-enforced.
If it hasn't been said:
0) buy online, for shipping only (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Samsung+Vitality+No-Contract+Phone,+Speaker+%26+$50+Best+Buy+Gift+Card+Package/9999171800050005.p?id=pcmprd171500050005&skuId=9999171800050005&childSku=1217833&count=2)

1) in store, grab up to 2 or 3 of the bundles: mostly white box with green Cricket label on top and blue band in the middle, with picture of the red smartphone with the silver speakers. (I'd add photos, but I'm lazy to get the camera). Everything except the GC is in one package, located in:
0) (SKU 3725822 if you'd like a random employee to take 10 seconds to check; UPC 711868000476 on back of box if you'd like to make sure)
i) Cricket stand up column display
ii) regular shelf display, may be next to other no-contract phones
iii) ask people in phone department, they'll have them in their cabinet behind them or in the back
2) purchase through the phone dept employee that helped you or go straight to registers
a) bring a blank gift card (for each bundle, can do multiple on same receipt) to register to save time
b) decline protection plan
c) tell them to select option (a) "handset only"; this is the same as "no activation"
d) wait for them to be forced by the system to add the $50 gift card (the system won't let you check out without that GC)
e) check your receipt for $99.99 for each bundle, and a GC for each bundle with $50 balance
This is a nice deal, I'd even be able to accept some wait as long as there's some orderly queuing, and it's easy enough to decline any upsells. Or just order online and pick up in store.

I went to BB last night. And tried to get 2 phones as their limit. The young lady didn't know how to apply gift card at mobile section cash register. They took to front cash registers, a young guy didn't know how to ring it too. They asked a mobile phone supervisor to help. That guy asked me how do I know about this deal. I told him it is on BB website. He scanned and switched to different screen and asked me about my information. I asked him WHY? I didn't give my information to buy anything in store and told him "Walmart and Target never asked me my personal information to shop at their store". He said they can't sell it to me because I refused to give them my information. I demanded to see on duty manager. That guy came, and said "You need to provide personal information or driver license to buy this phone. We must send your information to CIA after each purchase. B/c some customer has tried to scam. You don't give us, you can't buy it". He walked away.
I called CS toll free in front of them and they listened whole conversation.
I can't believe. They are so stupid and idiot. Their marking dept has spend a lot of money and effort to bring customer into stores. And those idiots ruin it all. Now I know all BB associates are working for FBI or CIA in some form.

I just updated the wiki with most of the important info i could think of.
BTW, I just realized "Vitality" is misspelled as "Vitaility" and I don't recall seeing anyone mention it yet. I was wondering why I couldn't find this thread with "samsung vitality".

What state are you from? Los Angeles stores only ever mentioned a 2 or 3 item limit, and everyone was polite/matter of fact about it, and the closest thing to stinkeye I got was from a manager/assistant mgr/supervisor that said I already bought 1 when I was in line again to buy 4 more (I understand the stinkeye since I can see how my actions might have looked suspicious, doesn't mean I enjoyed it though).
Aside from the 2-3 item limit, the register system handled everything pretty automatically, not even allowing the cashier to continue until a GC was swiped in, so all the cashier had to do was scan UPC, scan serial num, and swipe a blank GC before prompting for payment. Maybe if I had tried to pay in cash I'd understand being asked for my contact info (I've seen enough TV and movies to be ready for people watching out for shoppers buying more than a couple "burner phones"), but that never even came up in any of my transactions.
There's always online, the bundle w/ GC is available, with "guaranteed Christmas delivery".
BTW, I wonder how often regular people who resell phones get contacted by law enforcement regarding phones they sold that happened to be part of investigations. Must be especially awkward if done through CL or eBay without paypal confirmed address, w/ no paper trail.

At the Shack once a cashier said I had to give her my driver's license to buy a prepaid phone. I said, no I don't. She said I did. I asked to speak to the mgr. He said that it was required under "The Patriot Act". I said BS. He said no license, no phone. I said, no phone then.
It's pure and utter BS. I don't know why they pull stunts like this.

I received my gift card before the order showed the card as shipped. I found the card was not yet activated. After an hour on the phone transferring dept to dept, I finally found out that the card doesn't get activated until the system shows as shipped. There is no way to manually do this, they have a backlog supposedly so it is taking extra time. I figured I would share this in case this happened to anyone else, and save others the wasted time on the phone with bestbuy.

So how is the speaker? Is it a rechargeable unit, like a cell phone with build in batteries? Or does it take rechargeable AA or whichever ones? Also, how is the phone for usage as an iPod Touch type device?

Speaker is nice, rechargeable, no batteriea. The phone itself works great as an ipod with one exception, the internal storage is only 200mb so you have to move apps onto the ad card, i rooted and got an application called stood sail super app2sd which will put them on the sd card as they install.
Textfree and grooveip work so it is semi functioning as a phone as well. One is going to my teen as an ipod replacement for christmas.

That sounds great, also, is the phone smooth to use? I am currently running an old iPhone 3G as an iPod and it is really slow, is this phone a nice internet browser and OS run phone as far as speed and smoothness runs?

I guess I did not get a really direct answer from you, but how is Youtube and Web Browsing on the device? Performance wise on WiFi, I do not plan on activating this item to use as a phone.

That should only be if it's being subsidized by a carrier. This isn't. I'd fight it but any fight would lead to a loss of my 10% CB. 10% CB is more than the difference in tax.

Sweet.
I've literally spent months trying to find an external speaker that would work for my car. Replacing the radio or adding internal speakers wasn't an option since my car is old, instead I tried small portable ones w/ ipod docks. Problem was that my iphone would constantly fall out of the dock while driving, putting it back while watching the road was just dangerous and reckless.
I had no idea that bluetooth had come so far, I'm still in awe of how clear the sound is from such a small speaker.
Great deal, thanks :woot:
Hoping for some help, my new Samsung Vitality, sees my network, I gave it the PW and it just says "obtaining IP address", But it does not connect. Any thoughts on what to do?

Guys, I just came back from my local BB. I did exactly as mentioned in the thread but when the cashier scanned the phone package it never asked for the GC so the final came to $79+Tax. Is the $50 GC dead?

Yes, this stupid phone is no good for the market. Nobody wanted to pay $55 per month. Even it's dropped to $79 now for the combo, nobody really bought it. Now I am stuck with $100 bestbuy giftcards that I do not see anything worthy to buy.

Hard to believe. You returned "with" the cards. Even you got the call said the cards were still active, how did you have those cards numbers and pins? There must be something going on with your fraud activities. Noone is crazy enough to call and ask you to come back to stores and returns the cards on spot to you.
My hypothesis: you wrote down the card numbers and pins, then returned the cards. And go buy something else online using those card numbers and pins while they did not have the time to reprocess the cards yet. FRAUD and STEALING.
