Suddenly, there a large influx of people joining SD. Mostly for the Gmail.


Do SD do a system purge of all the dead accounts or people only here Gmail?

go to the gmail thread, 90% of the posters have 5 or less posts and they were all posting their email address to get a gmail account.

Same here. I tried it and very quickly abandoned it. I think it's just a glorified Yahoo account.

Ditto. I actually forgot my Gmail account name after 3 days.

Also, Gmail doesn't support Opera, which is idiocy. The webmail service that's not compatible with all major web browsers. Just brilliant.

You almost want to require a minimum number of posts before asking for an invite, but then you'd end up with all kinds of crap posts.

I will admit that I joined for a GMail account, but I have been following the deals on SD for over a year. The GMail offer just got me off my lazy butt to join. Now, I definately plan on becoming active in posts/discussions since I have an account. I hope most of the others who joined for the GMail offer will follow suit. Being somewhat of a realist, I doubt it, but then maybe SD can do that purging of idle accounts?

I like Gmail also. I have a few accounts, but I have given away 12 invites today. Alot of n00bs asking for invites, and some asking multiple times, but I ain't picky today cause I had a bunch to get rid of.

maybe there could be a seperate Gmail forum? I know it's harsh, but it would eliminate some of the useless clutter in the normal forums- maybe the postings to the gmail forum wouldn't count in your post count- as if that really matters for something

i am a big fan of gmail, but i think people are taking advantage of this community to get *more* accounts. 1 guy now claims he has 6 invites, 15 minutes after he asked for an account. that shit just doesn't happen. it's bullshit really. i have been posting links for the accounts, but it looks like i am gonna have to get more selective to whom i give these things out to. btw, to all the haters, gmail is badass, you should jump on the opprotunity to snag a good name early, since your here...

I heard that I was like gmail is crap and delete it in 2 weeks. Yahoo is so much better.
