Amazon 3rd party dealer selling the 1TB western digital caviar black WD1002FAEX for $99.13 shipped.
I think the price is among the lowest I've seen for the black version of the drive since the flood.

Very good price as of late.
I can't believe how much prices have rose or stayed stagnant since the floods.
I bought this same drive from Best Buy in 2008 for $79.99 on sale.

This same HD is $239.99 on newegg right now. It'll be at least 6 months before HD prices start to come down so if your in the market for a good 1TB HD, this is a great price for the time being.

Holy moly. I bought two of these on Newegg in late 2010 ago for $89 each. That was the standard price back then. Now it's over $240 on Newegg. What gives?

Floods in Thailand wiped out a lot of the stock for the major manufacturers in October.

some wierdness. Initially showed $140. Stripped the slickdeals related info out of the url and showed 101.09. Showed 101.09 thereafter.
I jumped in ($101.09) I guess they won. I have been holding out till this profiteering racket ran its course, but at about $30 more than fall 2011 price I can move on with my life and finally install my Steam backlog.
The downvotes are funny. Perhaps people trying to bury it for some reselling.
Quick check of ebay completed listings shows these going for just over $100. So, not a screaming hot deal I guess but a thumb up for the first caviar black to show up on my deal alerts in months. Still $240 on newegg. Sold by WesternDigital through Amazon gives me some confidence over ebay.
Also FYI I remember something about as of Jan 1 the WD warranty is only like 1year. Says 5 year on the product page. Im gonna screen cap that right now while i'm thinking about it.

Thanks, I've been running this drive for about a year without any problems. I have another computer built and ready except for a hard drive and been waiting on a deal for a fast 1 TB. This is a great price for the situation the industry is in. It is now sold from Amazon for $101.09 which is excellent.

I got one of these drives last year on eBay for $18 (needed a new SATA connector, pulled one from a bad drive). Insane deal, and it's been running great ever since, 24/7 in my tivo with almost no cooling. These are solid drives.

I'm glad I picked two up before they sold out. Hopefully, I won't receive any cancellation notice.

Any speculations on when prices will go back to before the floods or less?

I'm just as surprised as a few other folks on this thread. I thought it would at least be a 2.5 inch drive! Unless you're really needing one right now, do not buy a hard drive. What a rip off.
$101.09 and ships directly from Amazon.com -- no 3rd party seller needed now.

I got one of it around 6 mos ago. I took one after I had read its full product review from http://www.solidstateharddrivereview.org/western-digital-caviar-black-wd2002faex2tb-desktop-hard-drive-review.html. Well, it works well for me and I don't have any problem with it, it's just that your price is just around half to what I had bought.
