A lot of posters use YouTube to post humurous videos and other videos. There is a hack for vB that allows you to embed Youtube video in your posts, just as you do pictures. Here is the link to the vB forums page/download. You must be a member of their forums, which means owning a licensed copy of vB which I'm sure Mr. SD owns. I just think this would be a nice addition to the lounge so that we aren't always navigating away from SD while viewing videos.

Will it take any bandwidth away from SD though?

Not sure. I don't know much about this. I'm part of a small private forum that implemented this.. not sure if it takes bandwidth away from it though. I'm Mr. SD or RedSolar would be able to answer that.

If it doesn't, i'm sure it would be a great addition. If it does, i'm sure it would lag the site down tremendously though.
Good idea in anyway. :worship:

Idk... Some people have dialup and youtube videos slow down stuff. I think it's best just to link to them, although having them imbeded would make my life easier sometimes.

But you have to click to play them.. so all it would load would be the player itself, not the video (the large part of the file)...

That's a good point. Hmm. I'm for it then.

I'd rather not be forced to download an unnecessarily large YouTube front-page-like embed when a simple hyperlink to the YouTube page will suffice. The work needed to make that feature work isn't worth what is more of a drag on The Lounge than a boost given the simple hyperlink alternative.

I beg to differ. This will allow users to not be forced to navigate away from the page. You won't be downloading an "unneccessarily large file" as all that loads in vB is the player and the video streams directly from youtube.

Also I wouldn't say it is a "front-page-like" embed. Have you seen it in action?

It shouldn't slow do your computer any. It doesn't start to "download" until you click play... then you'll see the red bar go across ahead of where you are watching it. If you don't click it at all I don't see any reason for it to slow down your computer
