I've had built in GPS/Navi units on my previous cars, but now I never use them, because Google Maps on my phone is better. On my next car, I want to mount a 7-10" android tablet with built in GPS in the car. Not sure which navi program I'll use, but I know there are some choices there. When I drive, I will be able to wifi tether to my phone, so I can have real-time traffic details, but my wife will not. So the navi needs to work in both online and offline modes.

Unit will also be my in-car entertainment, basically music only, with the very occasional movie for the kids.

I'd like to spend <$200 if that makes sense.

My inclination is that 7-8" is better, so as not to take up so much space. Also, a resistive screen (as long as it is responsive) may be OK. I am happy to hear advice on size of screen, as well as resistive vs capacitive in this application.
