do threads get deleted sometimes? [Archive]

I've been subscribing and posting to particular threads, and a few minutes/hours later when get an email saying someone posted a new reply, I click the link to goto the thread, and it's no longer there, and if i search for it, it's not found -- what gives?

Yes, posts are removed time to time depending on the post/thread, any rule violations, it's relativeness or the direction the thread took.

I mean whole threads -- specifically the one that just had the xbox 360 on overstock (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=391165&goto=newpost)

Yup, I think that was on the front page before but looks like OS had made a mistake before letting the coupon apply on the 360. It no longer works on the 360. OS probably contacted SD to take the thing down too.

Yes, that thread has been removed from public view. As to why, I do not know. steaksauce's idea is a good one.

Will they still honor the deal for those of us that made it through? Has anybody else had any issues with them making mistakes? I haven't received any emails from them cancelling. Hmmm...

Interesting theory. I got in an order. I'll keep an eye on this thread and update with what happens. I figured it was a legit hot deal.

personally i think mods deep six especially good posts and share them with an elite few so that they can milk the deals without the masses making everything go OOS. i just had another thread disappear on me, from now on i'll be printing key threads to pdf files.

Yes, threads are deleted time to time for many different reasons. It could be the companies request, the OPs requests, the thread took a bad turn, etc. There's always a legit reason why they are removed.

Why did my thread get deleted? I have emailed the administrators all day asking why, but I got no answer. Mods...this was the post #:

Basically, it was about going to fabu.com and matching it up with GCO to save even more money when you checkout. WHy would that get deleted? Please explain. It was a good thread. I had reps, thumbs up, etc...

Funny, b/c I learned of fabu.com from reading SD. How was it that that thread did not get deleted? In fact, if you do a search with the word "fabu," many threads/posts come up. Fabu does not compete with SD. There are no forums, just links to merchants.

The mods can't read EVERY thread. If someone mod alerted you for linking somewhere else, they deleted it. I don't imagine they go searching for key words all day long looking for threads to delete.
