I am wondering how merging affects the number of thumb's up or down the two posts have.
For example: Lets say you have a thread under six months old that has 2 thumb's down. It gets reposted and the repost has 3 thumb's up. After it is merged will it have 1 thumb's up?
I MODalerted a situation similar to this and would like to know.
Thank you,
Isis :)

That is something I have been curious about as well. Often times I see a repost that has 2/3 thumbs down. I have always wondered if they get merged and bring down the original post.

IIRC, the votes are nulled out. I've merged a recent thread (1 thumbs up & 1 thumbs down) and there weren't any visible votes after the merge.

But, wouldn't the votes in that case cancel each other out? What I want to know is if there are different amounts on each post. As I said in my example
For example: Lets say you have a thread under six months old that has 2 thumb's down. It gets reposted and the repost has 3 thumb's up. After it is merged will it have 1 thumb's up?
Or vice versa 1st thread has 3 thumb's up & repost has 2 thumb's down?

The votes are added together. There are still some quirks with it that need to be corrected.
