Hmm....I write "Thanks :) " in every post I "use". I do it to thank the person for taking the time to post, and also to remember what I signed up for. :) I don't think it's spam to acknowledge someones efforts. Just my opinion.

I just found it quite convenient that he just registered today, managed to reply to every post on the first page of freebies and started to on the coupons, and that every post somehow related to what he did. But oh well, don't want to make a big deal out of something that's probably nothing

He is now up to the "hot deals" section
:bulb: mods, it's time to use your superior power :bulb: (<----- Wanted a thunder smiley, but this will do...)

for example, this is what he typed in the $1.40 boots:

man i really wanted those boots too

same goes for all posts.... such as the DVD-R:

i wanna get a dvd burner so ill buy these so i get some incentive to buy them

Yeah, I know, unfortunately it's a little unfair for me to just remove his posts from "freebies" where everyone else makes their (pointless) contributions and thank you's. I have in some places, but others it just stinks of discrimination. I wish he'd venture into this thread.

He will be controlled everywhere else mind you, but freebies is often hard to control because they generally aren't serious deals.

Hey! I like my freebies :) They are serious to me -- I am getting free stuff!!!

I concur on a few things. First off, I have been checking this site for three years, I found my first freebie and then found the freebie forum. I was excited, I use this site every day for the past two months. I do take the freebie section seriously. I also know that there are many senseless posts on the freebie sites, as all the others, a lot of responses to posts from days ago without reading that the item has expired usually.

A note of sorts, Firepica posted a ton a junk about two weeks ago, tonight, geohound posted about ten sites at once. Both these users posted decent info, and are new users, I have not readmany matrix39 posts, and I know that useless info posted screwsup the more important info on the boards.

I think a beneficial result from this conversation/thread is a limit of posts a user can make due to his newness to the boards.

Let me know what you think.

I'm new to posting, but I try ot limit it to about 5 times a week TOPS! and if I post, I try to add extra info.

Thanks for reading,

Dan

If the user is providing beneficial information I see no reason why their posts should be limited, regardless of "time-joined". Matrix however was not, he made 40+ posts in a very short period of time, all of which were somewhere along the lines of "thanks" and "cool!". Seemed pretty obvious that he was simply trying to "build up" his post count rather than actually proving worth while information.

use the "report this post to a moderator" feature...

I attempted this recently to report a blatant advertisment in the hot deals section, but after submitting the report I was bounced back to the login page. There was no indication that the report had been successfully submitted. If it had, then I sent it 3 times. Sorry about that.

Ok, I know people like leaving jokes and the occasional "thank you", "ok", "yay", etc.. but 14.39 posts a day... wow.. that's kind of ridiculous especially when none contribute anything and are just 14 "ok" or "wow"

My thoughts :). I like the community feeling any board gives you, and such posts are off, but some do make you laugh :D.

I again feel like I'm doing something wrong!! Whenever I apply for a freebie or a free mag I say "Thanks :) ) Not only to thank the poster, but also because I'm old and it helps me remember what I applied for. Is this wrong????? Let me know.
P.S. I could give a crap about post numbers!!!

In my personal opinion, no this is not wrong. Like I said, I think it's ok to post whatever you want. Whether it's an ok or a wagalazoo... it doesn't matter. The forums are meant for posting... but when you post 40 or 50 posts in the matter of a few minutes something is wrong...

Is there a reason why people want to boost their number of posts?

*gasp* a secret I didn't know before... do I have to collect 1000 posts to find the secret freebie that gives me five levels of experience? (okay I'm a dork)....

Before i get labeled as a spammer, do you guys mind me posting my explanations and such on the computer hardwares? it seems like lot of other people on the board post things that aren't entirely true

I think it's helpful when people post replies. (Such as Ph00ny was saying right there) I like being able to read through a thread to find out before I do anything if it's even worth my time. Also I think it's good if anyone puts in their 2 cents - like I'm doing right now. ;)

By all means I believe we all want you to post relevant info about the deal. The people who read this board will be better served by said board because of it.

He is spamming it up over there now. At least he is not contaminating the deal sections anymore though.
