I sign up for this every month - it's a really nice program. I actually get some each time, too. You just have to remember to sign up every month for the new offerings. By the way, I don't think you're *actually* obligated to submit a review, but that would be the nice thing to do... :angel_not

Just a question....is there something special you include that causes them to select you, or is it just a random drawing for who gets the books. Signed myself up and my two teens who are voracious readers as well. Thanks so much. I'll rep if it lets me...never done it before. (yes...I'm a rep virgin LOL)

It's a random drawing, done towards the end of each month.

:reading:
well looking at the ones that are up there now it looks like asking for the book opened on 6/29 and ended on 6/30 (at least on the adult site), with the review due 8/1. So I'm guessing the best bet is to look towards the end of the month, at least that is what I am going to do! In fact, I'm going to write it now in my planner before I forget!

I had updated the First Look thread earlier in the week:
http://forumst.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=427407&page=4
post #56
Oh I searched and didnt see it. Maybe because I searched "First Look".:scratchh:
The only thread that came up was one similar to the one I posted but for Sept books, so I didnt know where to put it.
Maybe someone should change the title of that thread, so they can all be put in the same thread and just updated..:dontknow:
No point in having threads every month for it, if theres one thread. I'd rather have it kept organized.

Does anyone know if they look at your brief description for wanting to each read book prior to their drawing and if it has some undue influence on whether or not you get it (ie I have the same background in the book of the main character in the Nafisa Haji and wrote about it in my description--> will that help me get it??)
Thanks.

My daughter is so upset. She got picked for two more books for April, but as she went back on to check to see the status - there's one book with no one picked yet, her two still there, and this blurb on the top:
"First Look will be going on hiatus while we work on creating an even better program to introduce new books and authors to you, our First Look members. During this time, we will not be offering new books for review. You will be able to submit reviews through May 2009 for any titles you’ve already received through the First Look program at HarperCollinsChildrens.com.
We are grateful for all the interest you’ve expressed in the books we’ve featured in First Look, and for all of the insightful reviews that have been submitted over the years."
Aww :( She's wondering if she'll get the books she was already picked for, too. I told her I didn't know.
