Suggestion for the Search Feature!

One thing I have found annoying is when you do a search, it always searches ALL the forums. To search a specific forum, you have to do an advanced search. That can get tedious and/or annoying. How about having it so it only searches the forum that you are presently in? But, it will search ALL of them if you are on the front forum page. I love that feature when visiting the forums at Anandtech. It ONLY searches the forum you are in. It narrows stuff down so much easier. Why would you want to bring up results for the Lounge or podium when searching for a TV Tuner?

There is a "Search this Forum" dropdown located near the top right just below the jump bar of each forum. It changes to a "Search this Thread" when you're viewing a thread.

Great minds think alike!! I hate having to do an advanced search to look for an item in the hot deals section or to look for a thread so I can yell REPOST!!!

OOPS! In all the time I'm here, I never saw that! I always used the search popup on the main bar. It definitely isn't very noticeable. Thanks!

hmm. i never noticed it simply because I do all my searches from within threads..

How 'bout having the main bar on the front page? Or, maybe, it only shows up on the front page if the cookie is detected? I find it annoying to have to click on "forums" to be able to click on "User CP" or jump to a forum. I don't bookmark the site because it's faster to hit alt-D, s, <enter>.

Anyway, shouldn't the plural of forum be fora??

Me too. And it's no faster to go back to the main forum than to do an advanced search.
