View Full Version : Stop people from posting 'are there any free subs to (x)' in Magazines section
I really don't know what their logic is. If there were a free sub, it would have been posted. If it's not there, no one knows and/or it doesn't exist.

I agree. Performing a simple search would answer their question. Let's not reward lazy people.
It's even worse if they do search, and they still ask.
If it so happened that there was a subscription to that particular magazine which existed but had somehow gotten past all us SlickDealers, and someone was keeping it to themselves - why would they tell on request?

I don't think it's really that big of a deal. How exactly does it impact your life in a negative manner? Sure - your eyes cross over the threads for a second perhaps but that's about it, right?
If you get upset about people posting magazine requests, the terrorists have won.
It isn't a big deal, but then again nothing on an internet forum really is. It's just annoying as all hell and it makes me want to chain them to a wall and throw knives at them while I ask them to explain their flawed logic.
Or something.
A 'DON'T POST MAGAZINE REQUESTS' sticky would go a long way.

Yeah? Would it? I doubt it.

As a courtesy to the other SDers, members should make the effort to do a search. The reason we have threads and posts is for the benefit of our members. If each member asked questions that were already answered in SD, we would be inundated with countless threads.
Maybe we should have a separate Forum for such requests, like "help me find a deal."
Yeah? Would it? I doubt it.
I dunno. From what I've seen most of the stickies are pretty well enforced, although that may be due to nearly 24/7 moderation and the ModAlert button.
They don't even belong in Find A Deal, since as I said the logic is completely nonexistent.

My point is that the number of magazine request threads started is not that overwhelming to make such a big stink about it. And besides, it can lead to interesting discussions when people make requests for magazines that only weirdos read. I'm just saying, it's not the end of the world if someone posts a thread without much value. Certainly nothing to get really annoyed over, as you are doing.
Listen, do you want to do some breathing exercises? We could work on your stress level.

Sigh.
That's right - inhale, exhale - you've got it buddy.
People would be much more happy with their lives if they took a little time to reflect on what is right with their job, love life, house, etc. and just a little bit less time thinking about how it could be better.
Considering how to better one's life is good but you've got to consider how it already is good.

restuck the official request thread. hope that actually accomplishes anything.
Thanks. Hopefully :D
There are six request threads on page one right now; I'd say that's enough to be an annoyance. I really don't care if you think that's frivolous, acidic.

I just think that you should have to subscribe to slickdeals before you can even view the free magazines or freebies, because memebers sometimes cant even get in on it cause all the guests have signed up making nomore in stock or killing the deal by over ordering.
Currently Active Users: 957 (199 members and 758 guests)
I am just saying :D

That's rather rude. I never said anything about not caring about your opinion Gord. Honestly, why did you have to behave like that?
Grow up.

IMHO all requests should be put in the "help me find a deal" forum...

agreed- requests belong in the request forums- period. Asking for subscriptions DO creats discussions which is also something that does not belong in the free magazine forum.
Call me crazy but the forums were set up with the sub topics for a reason....

If that was rude, would you mind telling me what being a condescending jerk and telling me to do breathing exercises counts as?
