When you enter the SURVIVAL3 code, don't go back to your shopping basket yet. Click "submit" and it will give you the chance to choose one of the four deluxe samples.

No need for a code - you just have to have your birthday in their system (account settings), and it'll show up on a separate page during checkout 2 weeks before or after the date. You do have to check the box,next to it, like for their 3 small samples. For me (I'm in the Insider club), the Bday gift showed up as one of deluxe samples for the order over $100 (so, you can either have your Bday gift, or the deluxe sample).

But go ahead and email Sephora - last I did, they gave me free shipping credit... don't know why, but I used it!

Well, every year for the past few years anyway they have a 20% off friends and family sale (online code) a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving so hopefully that is coming up!

You can always find sale stuff on Sephora by searching for "sale".

Never heard of a Christmas sale at Sephora.

I would suggest getting her a gift card if you don't know which products she uses specifically. You can go to the MAC store and get one, she can use it at the store or online. Nordstroms sells MAC too if there is no MAC store. Or buy a sephora gift card. I think that would be your best bet cause returning make up is a hassle sometimes.

It's a website typo, it's most likely .025 oz because the full size is .15 oz. I got the 30 day trial size when it first came out and it was .05, so half of that is still a good sized sample.

the deluxe samples are the ones you get for spending $100 as a beauty insider.
I just add whatever to the shopping cart, push check out...you can then see the regular three free amples you can get, once you select those and add to your account, it will prompt you to pick a deluxe sample if you have enough points.
