Does Sephora accept returns of open, used merchandise? Their website return policy says "...unused item in its original condition." I thought they used to let you return for any reason. TIA!

Instore they definitely do, even without a receipt, as long as it is nearly full, ie, you can't use it almost all up and then say you don't like it.

It depends on the store + SA, I live in SoCal, I go to the Sephora & Glendale & have not have problems returning w/o receipt. I only did it twice w/o receipt though. They asked me for an ID and returned, not happily but still. Next time I suggest you show them a reciept (any) with the sephora return policy (highlight the part of the policy where it says you can return w/o receipt) and say that you called in earlier and some one said it was okay. (normally i call ahead to check) The SA's at the VS near always say I cannot return for store credit w/o a receipt, I just show them the policy on the receipt and said I called VS Customer Service, then no problem. They might give an attitude but all is well as long as you get what you want done :P

Wow, that's awful. All the girls at my Sephora are super nice and take back anything at any time. They always give freebies, too. Perhaps you can send a letter to sephora.com? Explain that the store associates are not very nice and you feel hassled when you shop there. Tell them they make you feel like your business is not wanted. Or try and contact the district manager. I wouldn't talk to the store manager, I would go over his/her head. I definately wouldn't let them treat you that way. Remember, they need YOUR business. ;)

I'm sure if someone returned 50 items a month it would be a problem, but a few items here and there shouldn't be an issue. Of course most of mine are still new, so not sure if the items being used/empty/ is worse (they can't resell anything returned even new, I believe)

They have records of all our purchases both in store and online, maybe they look that over and see if we buy often too? I guess it also depends if that particular store happens to get constant returns, or people even trying to return things the store doesn't have, etc....they would be more "on edge" then.

thanks to your post i placed yet another order to sephora.com... hopefully it will come when the hubby isn't home.. though I use the Bliss Best of Skintentions facial moisturizer and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.. so having a travel size of it will be nice too.. thanks gals for all the feedback, its sad i have to ask you guys what the sephora policies are, you guys know more than the employees.

my next questionn is: if i were to order something from sephora.com and were to use my gift cards, how many gift cards does it allow me to enter? i have four in counting.

if you have more than one gift card you need to call sephora to place your order and their system takes at least 3 (i've been able to use 3 gc, dont know if the system accepts a fourth)

I was a bit disappointed that my store substituted other items for the VIBLove gift bag. I didn't realize it until I got home because they had a whole basket of of prepacked small sephora bags with red tissue paper. There was no drawstring bag, no buttons, and the items were definitely not the listed items nor were they all 100 pt deluxe samples.

I got three foil free sized samples including a small sample of the Dr. Brandt Collagen Booster, a deluxe sample of DiorShow mascara and a 3 piece clinique type 2 mini set. I actually told the cashier that I was surprised they still had them, but she never said it was b/c they made them in store. My guess is that they ran out of the official bags. nope. the highlighter pen looks a lot like Benefit's moon beam except it dispenses like a stila lip pen. its supposed to be used in addition to the temptu system but the pen itself doesnt fit IN the temptu system. i mean i'd be really mad if they gave us a perk that required to use a $250 airbrush system :lol:

You can on a case by case. It depends on the Sephora inside JC Penny. I have done this before and I didn't lose points either, beacuse JC Pennt issued the refund.

I have a question - I have some Buxom Stay There shadow. I have one pot that is spongy and awesome, I got a second pot in with my most recent order and the shadow fell out into my hands, wasn't even attached to the sides of the glass. I got a replacement sent out and it did the same thing. My good shadow is Shih Tzu and my bad shadow is Bulldog. Anyone have Bulldog? I'd love to know how it looks. I don't want to send back again.

You can on a case by case. It depends on the Sephora inside JC Penny. I have done this before and I didn't lose points either, beacuse JC Pennt issued the refund.

I have a question - I have some Buxom Stay There shadow. I have one pot that is spongy and awesome, I got a second pot in with my most recent order and the shadow fell out into my hands, wasn't even attached to the sides of the glass. I got a replacement sent out and it did the same thing. My good shadow is Shih Tzu and my bad shadow is Bulldog. Anyone have Bulldog? I'd love to know how it looks. I don't want to send back again.

i've never heard of anything like that happening, and if your replacement did the same thing, i tend to think that sephora got a bad lot. if you have a BE store (or an ulta) near you i'd exchange it there instead. (i wish i knew how the color was but i only have shih tzu and mutt, and i know neither one of those fell apart)

Yep. I called the VIB line yesterday, before they sent out their "oops" email, and asked why the store was handing out sample size instead of the full size advertised in their email. The rep said the email was mistake and offered to add 200 points to my beauty bank to compensate for the error.

Does anyone know Sephora's policy for returns without a receipt? I know they take your license info when you do one, but is there a limit on how much you can return without a receipt? If anyone goes into a store and gets an express service with the Temptu, make sure that you tell them how much coverage you want if they don't ask. I tried out the Temptu when I went to get the free VIP Retouch Highlighter today, but the SA didn't ask how much coverage I wanted and put it on really heavy. It so wasn't me and I didn't like how it looked at all. I plan to go back and see how it looks with a lighter touch.

Also, for anyone that has the Temptu system or is thinking about getting one, they are having a special now until Sept. 30th, you can get foundation (comes 2 to a pack), blush and highlighter pods for $85, regular price is $120. As long as you have a valid driver's license, they will give you a store credit. Sephora is really good about that.

That should be fine because the FF is a percentage off so it's used as a promo code. They did the VIB discount as a $ amount off and they did it as a gift certificate instead of a promo code.

I have that set (which is an awesome price!) as well as the set from the VIB gwp a month or two ago that has a bunch of the cream eyeliners in it. That liner looks like Thunder which is a "mossy grey" so it should have green undertones in it, not blue. hth!
