The profiles have been updated to be more deal centric. There are 5 tabs added to the profile.
Deals I Like & Dislike tabs
Displays the deals that you voted thumbs up or down.
Voting History
Lists your votes in chronological order and in a table format.
Reps Received & Reps Given tabs
Shows the entire history of reps received and reps given.
The first two tabs are always public. The last 3 tabs (voting history, reps received/given) are private by default. That means, only you will be able to see your own voting and rep histories. You have the option to make it public by going into UserCP, Edit Options. It is listed under "My Profile Privacy."

mods can see individual mod alerts per user, and we can generally see who mod alerts a lot.
there aren't many people who have valid reasons to MA posts. if they make it their agenda to nitpick.. we have a false mod alert warning for them :)

This is FANTASTIC!! Thank you very much Mr Sd and Mod team!! :woot:
EDIT: Hmm, just noticed something. The reps/thumbs up/thumbs down info may be private, but you can still figure out who is giving thumbs up/down by looking at the "deals I like/dislike" tabs. For example, when I click on a person's "dislikes" tab, it brings up all the threads that they have thumbs downed. Interesting!

It looks that way, but it's not necessarily the case. Pay close attention to the verbage at the top.

if the user has never thumbed down a deal, instead of showing a blank screen, it'll say "This user has not voted on any deals. Here is a list of front page deals."
random.

So what TR meant to say was that in almost every single case, it is how you vote except for the random people that don't actually vote?

That's how it looks to me! If a user has ever thumbs downed a deal, it will show up in their dislikes tab. Ditto for thumbs uping a deal. TR was just trying to confuse me, that crafty guy!

Then why are some MODs often encouraging people to MA posts since they don't have time to read through them all?

its taken out of context. it was in reply to someone who was asking we should make people's ma's transparent like the thumbs up/thumbs down. going on a vendetta against one person through MA's (like suggested in the quote) isn't easy because there aren't many valid reasons to MA someone.
we still rely on MA's to help police the boards.. and will never discipline people for validly using the ma system.

Is there a way to modify what other people see? I personally don't wouldn't want my thumbs up or thumbs down page to be viewed by other people. Call me paranoid, but people can learn a lot about someone else when they see the list of things you thumbs up or down. Personally, I thumbs up things that are of interest to me. If it doesn't pertain to me, I don't click into the link and therefore don't give it a thumbs up or thumbs down.
Therefore, with people knowing what I thumbs up and down, they basically know what types of things I am into. I don't want strangers to know that my interests are.

You've only given thumbs up to two threads and the thumbs down to two other threads. What are you afraid people will find out about you?

What are you afraid people will find out about you?
Personally, if they look at my voting and rep history, I'm afraid they might guess that I'm a 450 pound male inmate in a Federal prison, I have fourteen toes, I was once a contestant on the Gong Show, and that my interests are geisha girls, baloney sammitches, and lime green tutus.
I simply vote only thumbs up for threads that have a number 8 in the title and the color blue somewhere in the offer description, and I never rep anyone who has less than three vowels and four consonants in their user name or resides in Oklahoma. Most important of all, I also never vote on Thursdays or the 15th of any month, as that's always a dead giveaway that you're a genius, or maybe just Jewish and over 40.
So far though, you're the only one who's guessed who I really am, so things aren't always as obvious as they seem. It takes a formidable adversary to decipher all the hidden clues held in one's voting and rep history, but I would suggest to everyone that they TREAD CAREFULLY when it comes to voting or repping. Your personal information is at stake.

Voting History is a big privacy issue.
1. As people mentioned, a lot of people only thumbs up and thumbs down on the things they are interested in. So you can easily tell if the user is male or female from that.
2. You may be able tell if they are kids if they only thumbs up and down on toys and kids stuff, etc. Which is definitely a privacy concerns.
So what's the reason to have this voting history anyway?? If this is for thumbs down abuse, then this is not going to help. Let me just give some negative affect.
1. This may change people behavior in a bad way. People may start randomly thumbs up deal and thumbs down deal to avoid the privacy issue without knowing the deal is actually good and bad. BAD BAD idea and this will eventually happen!!!
2. To get around letting people know you intentionally thumb down good deal, you can just find 100 bad deals and thumbs down on those. That in your voting history, in the "Deals I Dislike', you will have 100 thumbs down that looks totally valid. So a few 'bad' thumbs down out of 100 not that bad right?? Pretty much people can avoid the abuse issue with that.
Because thumbs down history is NOT going to help the abuse issue (people can easily get around this). And it caused big privacy concerns, it should be allowed to turn it off for privacy reason.

Since you don't know who I am and the only way you can contact me is through this board, what good would it do for someone to know if I am male or female and whether or not I have kids? I definitely think that people should be careful online but I honestly don't understand how this information could be used to hurt me in any way. What am I missing?

I know you probably smart and know how to take care of yourself online. But you can't assume everyone is as smart as you. People fall victim into online scam all the time. Remember SD offer forum and private message which member can communicate with each other. Extra information means more easy for people to get scam.
But again, if you read my whole post, this is just part of the result why it is bad from my original post.
I think the intention is good (try to do something about abuse thumbs down). But there is no reason for this voting history because, one, there is insignificant amount of people abusing the thumbs down so thumbs down abuse is not really an issue. And as mentioned, going to cause privacy problem for those don't know about this voting history. Or bad behavior (just random thumbs up/ thumbs down) for those that know about this voting history. And those abuser that know about this voting history can easily get around it and still abuse the thumbs down without causing people to think they are abuser (again, one bad thumbs down out of 100 is not that bad right?).
And there are reasons why our election voting record are private. Just because few people write in 'Donald Duck' as their president (Just like the insignificant amount of people abusing the thumbs down), doesn't make it good idea to let the our voting record public. This is the same. It will just slowly affect SD overall in a bad way. The effect of showing history of voting record is worse than the impact of 'thumbs down' abuser.
