Please! Do not discuss the contents of ANY surveys for any reasons. A lot, if not most of them rely on your unbiasted opinion. Once you know what to expect, the opinion changes. These PHD candidates work very hard, so do not mess with their research. Thanx

Since details are not yet clear about how new website will operate, i will leave old tips up. Only thing i can add right now is, once you select the timeslot, it will not be tied to that. I was able to just select timeslot for 9am, and the comformation email i recieved contained direct link with the study being available.

If you already have some more details to add, please pm me and i will gladly add it

1st Ignore the points in the appointments tab, they are useless for us
2nd There are several types of paying surveys.
-Surveys where everyone gets paid (usually $5 Amazon GC)
-Surveys with lottery (prizes start at $25 Amazon GC to $100 Amazon GC)
-Surveys that pay with paypal(they will ask your address or you provide it at the end)
-Surveys that are paid with check being mailed to you...

FAQ
1. When are the surveys posted? In my experience, they are posted anytime!, but I have noticed that a lot of them show up at 6-7am.
2. Omg, I have missed the survey, what i'm i gonna do? 90% of surveys comeback a few times over the next few days(sometimes weeks)
3. What are these surveys that say I can't do them for various reasons? They are either designed for specific group of people who did some previous survey that you have not done, or some surveys are broken up into several parts(for different states/political affilication, etc)

[as of 3/7/08]i got an email from them that allowed me to sign-up using the link given in the email, only for selected participants. So if you emailed them inquiring when they were going to reopen the panel like i did, check your emails, you may have gotten an invite!

I think part 1 just had two parts to it. When I thought I was done, it asked me to download that thing for the survey then the screen was black and it showed all that other stuff. I never did quite really figure out what I was doing (right or wrong) with all those screens. It was confusing but I got to where it asked for my email and thanked me.

Yes you can, however they have been known to delete accts if something appears fishy, I don't know if that's related to the answers, or time taken the surveys, or what though. Perhaps someone else can chime in, I only remember asking if my husband could sign up (who clearly lives with me, lol) and got a yes.

I redeemed one, and then I contacted the researcher to tell her I was sent two. I wasn't sure if it was a mistake or if they mislabeled it and it was payment for another study. The researcher hasn't gotten back to me and it looks like I accidentally deleted the gift card when I was trying to move it to my saved folder. :(

Update on "A Food Review: Your Preferencess on Food Items" - just received this response from the researcher:

We processed these payments July 14th, but for some reason it now looks like many of the email addresses we sent to amazon.com did not go through. Our admin said that for some reason a few of the payments for the Food Review study did not go through, even though you were on the full list that was processed. Most likely there was some disconnect during the process where we send all of the emails to amazon.com for payment. Our lab manager is out of town for a few days, but I will ask him to take care of these payments as soon as he returns. Again, I am sorry for the confusion and inconvenience of this, and hopefully it will all be resolved soon.

I got a similar response from the researcher also. I sent him an email earlier today about the "Food Review" study and the "Two-Part Study" and he replied to me within 10 minutes. That was refreshing to see such a quick response so hopefully that means he and the others are working hard to get the payments out soon.

As for what he said about the "Two-Part Study":

The two-part study was processed at the end of last week, but our lab account has been having issues paying participants through amazon. This appears to be independent of the first issue above (this one is more about our account than uploading to amazon).

that is why you keep track of which ones you do and then make absolutely sure no one else in your house has done it. As long as you make sure the surveys are not the same, you are good.

Thought I would post this... I had sent an email asking when G.C for Hank and the pharmacy would be forthcoming and this is the reply I received..When people cheat it makes it hard on all of us and the researcher..Do they really think they are going to get a way with it? really?

Payment is backed up because some participants took this study twice. We are still sorting it out. You should receive payment soon.

Cheating sucks... and I am the only one in my house who takes Stanford... but both DH and I do the same Yale studies - from 2 different computers at the exact same time... I figured they can check the time stamp and know that it is not the same person.....Its not against Yale's rules is it?

you shouldn't do the same studies no matter who the company is for, that is considered "possible cheating" because there is no way to tell if it is you doing the survey twice or if it is 2 different people. That is why like with me n the bf at GSB, we do different studies, NEVER the same studies. He does the ones I do not qualify for and that is basically it. If you do one study and he does another then it is fine. But only 1 person per household should do said study.

To prevent this from happening, we recommend that only one member of the household take a study at a particular time. We apologize for this inconvenience. We must have these measures in place in order to collect accurate and honest responses from participants and to ensure high quality research.

I went through something like that for a month and emailed them about it and got a reply like "certain studies require certain demographics" etc. ...so I guess maybe you aren't meeting the criteria for said studies IDK:confused:
