View Full Version : Wikipedia makes mods lazy in contest section?!

I will not name any names, however lately when I mod alert a post in contest forums to get it edited some mods are no longer willing to edit the post for me. Instead they either tell me to do it myself through new wiki feature or they create a wiki of their own. Now this is great and helps lots of people--but now a pet peeve of mine.

Instead it would be a lot more helpful to edit a direct entry link to the top of a post so users don't have to scroll down to search it out or don't even realize it exists. This in affect shaves many mins off the entry of doing the entire list of contests. That is a big deal for users like myself who would like to enter all the contests.

--IF--mods think this unreasonable and entirely too time consuming on their parts I would be more then willing to volunteer my time as a mod or limited privilege mod without full mod status to make this happen. I submit sometimes dozens of mod alerts per week that would be easily fixable by myself. I love slickdeals, as much as you do. I have won $100's of dollars in great prizes because of this website. In closing I would like to thank the mods here because 90% of the time they do a great job and work extremely hard for little reward.

Just use the Wikipost to change it. Normally people now will look at that after they look at the original post.

hi implode,

first of all, i want to thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm, and for wanting to improve the contests & sweepstakes forum to help other members.

i understand that you would like to make it easier for members by having all pertinent information in the original posting where they may see it. while that would certainly be helpful, i believe that we can help members in a more efficient manner by creating and updating wikiposts with relevant information. as a wikipost is the first post after an original post, its position in the thread makes it ideal for members since it may be easily seen. with all current and relevant information contained in such a highly visible location, members can avoid scrolling through entire threads to find what they need. another ideal thing about the wikipost is that ANY member can update it at ANY time with ANY information they believe is relevant (within reason, of course).

i do believe that all of the moderators make every effort to accommodate the majority of requests seen in mod-alerts. we are more than willing to update titles for threads, merge reposts, move threads to more appropriate forums, etc... anything that would improve the overall experience here for members. with the participation of helpful members like you in creating and updating wikiposts, i believe that the overall experience can be made even better for members.

thank you for expressing your thoughts and concerns
