FYI: Everytime I update the list I add new things, verify things &/or delete bad numbers. So everyday I update things change. Remember the ones that don't say [Verified] with a date I have not checked yet. I am on dial-up so I cannot be online & call @ the same time.

I am changing the format slightly. Health & Beauty will be in post one. The other Catagories (Babies, Food, etc.) will be in post three. I use notepad on my harddrive to keep track (I can't edit this thread while I am on the phone because I am on dial-up) and it has just become to cumbersome.

NOTE 01.31.2008: I have been going back and forth with the flu etc all winter. Right now I am fine. But, the battery for the phone near the computer died. Since my printer may never work I cannot update until I get a new battery or phone. I will try to do that this coming month, but money is going to be really tight so it might not be until March. Once I do that I will start to update again. Thank you all for your helpful comments and advice to the rest of us. I really appreciate it!

I look @ it this way we are all freebie friends, so I just say a friend told me she got "whatever" from "your" company. I called Neutrogena and they still have the soap dish and cosmetic brush, they both come in tortoise shell, they will send them out and I should receive in 7-10 bus. days. Also, I called the Jason's Naturals and the lady was very nice. She is going to send out some samples. On the Neutrogena free soap dish and facial brush, I called the number and they said they are out of the gift items and don't know when or even IF they will offer more at a later time in the FUTURE, however she was nice and said they would "add me to the company's coupon mailing list".

On both the Cat Fancy mag pet food samples, I called both numbers last week ( two different brands that were originally listed in Isis' original post) and the first one said that the product was only sold in Florida ( kinda rude lady, IMO ) and they no longer have any samples, anyway. The other ( Canine Principal ) number I called said that they do NOT offer samples.

On the Queen Helene ( I had to leave a message but they did call me back ) the lady ( politely ) said that I most likely got the INCORRECT INFORMATION that they offered samples from some post or ad shown on a site called "My Savings" ( I let her go ahead and assume that, and did not protest, as I did not want to give SD a bad rep..heehee). She stated that the sample offer was not sanctioned by, nor advertised ,nor authorized by Queen Helene or Jason Line and that they did not have any current offer for samples. However, she gave me the consumer/customer service number to call and complain or ask there if I wanted to. I did and was told the same thing....no sample offer was ever authorized by Queen Helene/Jason Line and to please inform the ( any ) website offering/advertising them to PLEASE REMOVE THE INVALID OFFER.

So far, out of 23 offers from the OP's original post and 8 from the other long list by somebody else that was most likely merged with this one, ( over a period since the day the thread was started until today ) I have gotten only 4 valid offers completed. ( but have not arrived yet ), but have used up almost 2 and a half hours of my free time and have been incredibly embarrassed on the telephone. Not meaning to sound rude or unappreciative as I'm sure the OP and others worked very hard on this thread, however, maybe it would be a good idea to have some sort of GUIDELINES ( since there are no absolute rules on the site anymore and the stated rules are said to be subjective ) that the OP and others could follow by verifying the numbers of all offers before they are posted. I realize that some offers are just not available, anymore, due to high volumes of requests, so those are not what I'm talking about......just referring to the huge number of other offers that were not checked and verified to begin with and have turned out to be invalid phone numbers, no free samples ever offered by the company, or offers that are not really any definate freebies, just "maybes".

Just a suggestion and I'm sure I'll get some heat for saying it, but it bears thinking about if you have wasted as much time on all these as I have. All other threads usually follow the basic SD "rules" ( guidelines?) that an offer should be verified by the OP before posting, so I hope next time any "mass thread" of multiple freebie offers will all be verified before the thread is posted and not left up to the entire group of members to verify each one.

I do appreciate the intent of the OP and others, but I personally don't have a lot of free time and I don't really feel overall that the thread works as it stands now. There are lists on the internet just like this one and usually that's why I learned to avoid them, as most of these shown on "Freebies Lists" are offers that are either hearsay, ( such as one person calling the company and ending up receiving a free gift, so the offer is spread around the internet when it was never really an "offer" to begin with ) offer no longer available, out of samples, never offered any samples, old offers, invalid phone numbers, or things like "they might send you a sample."

Just a suggestion as I'm not a mod. However, if the numbers or offers could be verified BEFORE the thread goes up, it would seem much more sensible. If people don't agree, that's fine, however, then it leaves it open for others ( me, for instance ) to then copy/paste huge numbers of other freebie offers from many other less reliable sites, offers that have not been verified, too, and bring them to SD. Just confuses new people and gives the site a perhaps not deserved reputation for unreliability.

Ok guys, I can understand your frustration. However, I am checking some of the numbers every day. I make notations on everything I find out. This has taken alot of my time also, but I consider it time well spent if it gets all of us some good stuff. I am really sorry if some of the CSR's are rude, it could be the SD effect. Also companies do change their policies or run out of promotional items. It happens all the time with the items we get on the internet or by e-mail. But, I don't feel its fair to hold me accountable for that. I am just trying to get people some good freebies.

I did run into a couple of problems, but there were more nice people than rude ones. And as far as being "embarrassed," IMO, these people will never meet you, and the worse that can happen is they can tell you no if you call and they have nothing available. I appreciate Isis' work, and she is adding as she gets more info. But I also think it is important that other share their experiences as well. Obviously not everyone is going to have a great experience.

Isis, you are twisting my post into something I did not say. I don't hold you responsible for rude CSR's, however, if the offer was not valid to begin with then who am I to blame if the company clearly states when I call that they have no offer such as you describe and have not ever made nor endorsed such an offer?? Or someone answers the phone and says that they are not affiliated with the company at all and I have the wrong number, despite my coming back to the thread and checking your list AGAIN and seeing I did correctly dial the number you give?? Or if the offer you list is merely a number no longer even in service??? Or in one case a "party/chat line"???

I do not hold you responsible for companies running out of samples or "gifts" and you know that wasn't what I said at all. In fact, Neutrogena and the Queen Helene people were all actually quite nice.

I very clearly stated in my post that I was not referring to offers such as the Neutrogena and others where they had run out of samples or the policy had changed on samples, as that often happens with any freebie, and is quite understandable and can't be helped and the OP certainly is not responsible in any way. ( such as the Neutrogena being out of the soap dishes). I unequivocally stated I was only complaining about the posting of entire lists of numbers for offers that do not exist, never existed, were not checked by the OP before hand to even see if the number was a valid company number ( such as one which when I called was a lady who seemed genuinely appalled that the number was posted somewhere, ANYWHERE, as she was not affiliated with the company listed in your post at all ).

I stated in my post that many of the numbers I called even said they had not offered samples EVER and had no idea what I was talking about. I thought my post and it's intent was very clear. If it was not, then I know no other way to word it. It's in English, fairly articulate, not rude, nor was it meant to hurt your feelings. ( sincerely ). It's just a statement of fact and I was very clear on what I was pointing out and if you reread my post, it's stated that I did not mean offers that were merely pulled early due to overwhelming demand, nor offers that they had run out of samples or "gifts." Just the huge number of "offers" that frankly, were non-existent to begin with. Perhaps you should blame your source for all these free offers, if you refuse to take responsibilty for not checking them first BEFORE POSTING instead of getting offended at me over stating the truth and making a polite suggestion as to future threads with multiple offers.

If I hurt your feelings, I'm sorry, but I still believe the intent of my post was very clear and that it was a valid commentary merely stating that with all freebie offers, regardless of who posts them or whether in single separate threads or a mass offer thread such as this, that each offer should at least be verified by the OP as to it working at the time of the post. - Most companies have a policy to only offer samples once to your household within a 6 month period. Who these companies are varies. Neutrogena is one, I think... :lol:

- Many of the brands are under one main company umbrella and it works best to target the corporation and not the brand. Example would be Proctor and Gamble.

- Keri lotion/Biore facial products, etc... That corporation has a policy against giving out any samples saying it isn't financially in their best interest. That's the only company I know of.

As for the difficulties of talking to live customer service representatives... Think of all the other reasons people call them - hair dye and tampon disasters :eek: - you asking for samples is active consumerism. If they're rude, ask to speak to a CS supervisor. (There's something about women and self-esteem that comes into play here.)

I was just annoyed by a remark so blatantly sexist, and a little saddened that it was actually made by another woman. ( At least, I presume LinuxChick is a woman ) I think the desire to be treated well by strangers, either in person, on the phone, or even on the net, is human nature and universal, certainly not gender based whatever. Most people are uncomfortable in situations where they expect one thing and get quite another. Although many man wouldn't freely admit to feeling embarrassed or slightly humiliated by the situations we described, I know for a fact that they will avoid putting themselves at risk if at all possible, just like most women. Even if treated politely, the great majority of people, male and female alike, don't really want to ask a stupid question, and hate feeling "lame", which is what calling many of these numbers boiled down to, nor ask for something that was never available to begin with. ( not to mention wasting one's own and the other person's time ).

Equating such a desire to not subject oneself to this with women only and inferring it's a lack of self-esteem is simply ridiculous. Sorry you had problems with the above ldashner. Thank you for telling me. Unfortunetly I cannot edit that list because it was made up by pansey rose, so only she (or a mod) can edit it. The Queen Helene/Jason CSR's ( I tried two different numbers ) at least weren't rude to me or anything, just very polite, yet also equally firm about the fact they don't give out samples nor is there a current sample "offer". Since they weren't really rude, though, nor did they make me feel foolish for asking, ( as some of these numbers I called did ) at least I won't feel funny trying them again ( heehee :nod: ) and I probably will in the next couple days. At least their CSR's have some better "people skills" than many I talked to. *sigh* However, I can't seem to just give up on stuff other people do manage to get!! I'm so stubborn and determined!! When you order a sample online you get just one. It really does pay off to call to see if the companys have the samples or for a sample .Most of the ones I called seemed interested in sending me a arm load of the products they carry. I welcome questions, comments etc. on my threads celjla. It helps me and it helps you so it is a win-win situation. This is a hard thread given the nature of it. When I update it can be information on offers already posted (I try to update the day I receive them on my hard drive copy) or new offers I have added or both. The best way is to look @ the dates in the notes. If there are no dates it means I have not verified the information yet. A date in brackets [Verified 9.27.2007] just tells you I called you and what they said to me. A date italicized 9.27.2007 means either I have received the product or it is an additional note. I am sorry I could not come up with a better way to put the list together, but I did not want it just thrown together like so many I have seen on the internet. I hope this helps you. I called Dove, a.k.a. Unilever the other day at 1-800-761-DOVE.

They started pulling Dove Calming Night body wash and soaps from stores around here. Low sales apparently, but I love it. Customer service woman was real sweet and asked me if I wanted to try something else. Okay. She sent me a coupon for a free package of any 2 bars of Dove soap.

Coupons coming direct from a company's customer service hotline are printed special to send to consumers who call and ask. (They have holograms and fancy features to avoid fraud.) SO never be afraid or embarrassed to just call a company up and ask if they have any samples or coupons they can send you.

It seems like general complaints get you dollar or cents off coupons and "I don't like the new formula" or "I can't find my product anywhere and yes I already checked that store" get you a coupon for a free product. :nod:

You can also say you have a friend or a friend from an online forum you belong to (you do not have to say its a freebies forum, in fact its probably not a good idea) that said she (yes I am a she) called and got samples and would they send you samples also. Just consider me your (freebie) friend and if you do not mind I will do the same for you :)

I try to be as nice and friendly as possible. If they ask me if there are specific products I am in interested in I tell them I am on dial-up and cannot access their site. I tell them a little about my skin and the types of products I use and ask what they suggest. To be honest I hate talking on the phone, but have found most of the CSR's to be really nice, polite and helpful.

Thanks so much isis ...I got a box full of Sephora stuff had everything in a neat Sephora gift bag. It was a holiday though the mail didnt run UPS did and it made my day to recieve all the stuff they sent me. I am a total perfume freak ! I love to wear a different one all the time never the same thing. Smell different everyday. I try to be as nice and friendly as possible. If they ask me if there are specific products I am in interested in I tell them I am on dial-up and cannot access their site.

That one always works! :lol: If they refer me to their website then it's "I couldn't find it on there" or "my computer is down right now." Your chances of getting a free product or free item coupon are always better on the phone.

You are not taking awaything way from this thread, on the contrary you are adding great information! I was actually thinking of starting an e-mail in thread, but I think I have enough long threads as it is now. I am already having a hard time keeping up with the ones I have. I have to say again, WOW little district, that is quite a haul you got from Sephora. They sent you that from a store? Do you have to be close to a store for them to send it to you? The closest store to me is like seventy miles away.

A small update. I received the Mirena/Bayer Simple Pleasures Spa Kit which was really nice, samples from Dr. Brandt and one new post which I missed and just noticed. That one is marked new in red. It's a shampoo/conditioner from Abba (not the band) I think it works and smells really great.

There was a skin care product that came with other samples and it was called "Velvet Skin Coat" that worked really well for me as a skin protectant/ barrier product ( was NOT a cream, but rather clear and liquid like in a small sample packet ) and I thought since this thread has so many skin care freebies in it that this might be a good place to ask if anyone remembers which group of samples this small packet came in. ( DHC?? Mario Beduscu sp?? ). If anyone knows, please let me know ( you can PM me if you'd prefer it not be dicussed in the thread itself ) as I would like to try to get other samples of it or check the product for pricing on full size but I no longer remember the brand. Might be in a light greenish packet but I could be wrong. Thanks. :D

If for some reason you don't receive a sample just CALL AGAIN! They are usually super nice about it. Theonly really snotty person I got was L.A Fresh. I called to tell them that i received their samples but they were all opened! So the CSR says "We never offered samples of makeup wipes. You can buy it if you want to try it." Whoa..... I was calm and said, well I received the sample and it was opened, why would I lie about something as trivial as that. And then I hung up :)

I hope I am doing this right. I was reading the thread and wanted to add the following. It is a site that is sponsered by Purina. www.betteranimals.com. Sign up on the site, one of the questions is which of the following animals do you own check all that apply. In about 6-8 weeks you will get coupons for a free bag of food for each animal type you checked, good at the nearest participating dealer to your address. I have a bunch of critters and this is what I received-Free bag #35 dog food($33.00),Free bag #18 cat food (expensive don't remember exactly),Free bag of horse mineral or feed(your choice),Free bag of goat chow($10),Free bag of goat mineral (?),$5 off any mazuri product(Free bag of hampster food for me) and a $10 coupon of their expensive horse mineral which is $25.60 but ends up $15.60. This is the only one I paid any money for the rest are free except for sales tax. That was about six months ago or less and if that wasn't good enough I just received all of those coupons again last week and picked up my new batch of free feed yesterday.

As for those complaining about closed/no longer offered offers / rude reps just relax, go with the flow and appreciate what you DO get for FREE!

I am not positive but I do not think it is published anymore. There were two they published a baby book and a wedding book and I think the one they discontined was the baby book. But, I am not 100% sure. Check the never ending freebies thread under baby freebies and if it is there it should still work, if not then I deleted it because it was discontined. I would do it but my computer is funky and if I open another window now it will have a major attitude problem. I will try to remember to check though (but I have to warn you I have a terrible memory so thats not 100% either).

Also an FYI for everyone. I think I am going to be all better now after several bouts with flu/pnmeumonia (its been a bad year). Now my battery in the phone next to the computer has died. I probably will not be able to replace it until March so I will not really be able to update anything until then (unless by some miracle my printer starts to work again, lol). When I am able I will go through the list and the ones other people's have been merged to this one. Remember I cannot edit anyone else's posts. Only the poster or a moderator can do that. Sorry.

I just called the # for Beano...
No Beano available - it was Glaxo-Smith. The rep sent me a coupon book filled with a large assortment of OTC coupons I can use for their products (including beano, nicorette, etc.). Said it was a great coupon book with some significant savings in it.

They will ask WHERE you saw the offer...please tell them either a friend gave you the number or just say, "on the internet". NEVER tell them SD.

I'm guessing its some pretty old and/or expired offers. Might be worth a shot to call and get some good coupons, but not getting my hopes up.

Oh yah - Excellent advice about where to say you heard this info. from. Mentioning SD would probably kill any chance of getting good coupons and/or possible samples. :)

12/05/08 Update: They didn't just send cents off coupons! they sent three free item coupons good up to $1.99 for any genisoy bars. This is one phonecall worth making! I'm adding the info to this thread not to holler "gots mines" but to add actual information on the deal and details as to what they will send.

The only catch was the free item coupons are short dated - they expire at the end of of this month. it could be they sent free item coupons they had on hand that were about to expire. i don't care cuz free protein bars are still free even if you have to hurry up and use the coupons within a few weeks time.

Try calling and see what you get. maybe you'll get lucky too. They sent a letter too which I'll scan later and add to this post.
