I've had problems in the past, which is why I'm happy the local walmart has how gotten the self check-out. Sometimes I get away with using my internet coupons, but if I need to call someone over, it all depends on the person...

In the last week or so, I have started using internet coupons at the local WM. I used a couple of the BOGO Pepsi coupons w/o a problem. Today, they finally said something. I used the LiveActive coupons. I had them in my hand and received the "I don't think we take internet coupons". I handed them over and said I used some internet ones last week w/o a problem. She then said, if they scan, it should be OK. Sure, try to persuade me not to use them. Just like the Michigan Scan Law. I noticed when you goto CS for a refund, they neglect to give you the penalty (difference x 10 up to $5). You have to ask for it, which I think would be violating state law.

She did try to cover her tracks with the, they (WM) keeps going back and forth on to accept them or not. From what I've read, they've always taken them. Also, the coupon was in black n' white. Because my color ink ran out. So, there wasn't even a picture on it.

I've noticed some of my printables state right on them good whether in color or black and white. And who cares about the back? Insert coupons only have the other page's ad on them, not useful information to prove authenticity. Another reason I shop at Target more.

When I bring a cart full of dog and cat food up with some candles and only spend $2 they don't even blink an eye.

So we went to our neighborhood market my husband and I and we had some capri sun coupons. They were each for $1.50 off, i think they were bricks coupons, and they were printed in color. So we hand them over to the cashier and she says "Are you sure we can take those. I mean, they're not fraudulent right?"

My husband politely said "They should be ok, we got them from the internet."

So she says "I don't know, because people come in here and use fake printed coupons!"

I was speechless by then, and i felt soooooo insulted!

She said, "let me go ask if we can take this". The manager comes over and says yes. So I said "Well, i mean, if it scans it scans!" And she said "Well, I mean, they all scan but we just have to make sure they're not fraudulent"

I was speechless and hurt. First because we never use fraudulent coupons (especially my husband who even likes to follow the "one per person/household" rules), and second because my husband didn't say anything to the cashier..

I'm thinking about writing to walmart to complain because she didn't have to be an idiot about it! She simply could have made up anything like "I'll be back/ let me ask if we take internet coupons", and I would have accepted this as incompetence. But what she said was personal and offensive.

Just had to rant, sorry :)

I like Target better too, cleaner and less expensive. I do my best to avoid Wal-Mart. But, when I found out they took internet coupons. I just go there for a couple of internet coupon items. But, that was only a couple of times in the last two weeks. The last time I went, I wasn't pleased. I went and used a black n' white, $4 Purina coupon w/o a problem. But, the cat food wasn't marked and the unit tag actually was lower than what it scanned. So, I had to wait in the CS line and get a refund. I asked about the MI scan law and they said it didn't apply, since it wasn't marked. That was the answer that I expected anyway.

But, I would like to know, does anyone know where to find their list of 25 categories that they, WM, don't have to price in MI? I started an e-mail to CS and then thought better of it. I want to find a list first.

Now, that I've learned that Kroger takes internet coupons. I don't have a reason to shop at WM now.

On a side-note. My family thinks I am nuts, but, when I have a couple of bags of bottles to return. I take em to Wal-Mart, get my $25. Then go shopping at Meijer. I know it won't affect them. But, I'm using their deposit fund money to shop elsewhere.

I don't usually go to Walmart, but I've never had a problem with them taking internet coupons until last night. I only bought about 7 items, 6 of which I had a (internet) coupon for. After she rang everything up she looked at my coupons & said "what are those?" I was like "uh, coupons" and she said "like from your computer? We don't take those." I told her, "ok, I don't want anything then--I'll just come back with a copy of your coupon policy". I did not say this in a mean or rude way, I was just tired & I really was just going to leave & come back a different day. I guess she didn't want to have to put away all the things I was going to buy so she then said "well, I was told we don't take internet coupons, but let me check" and a manager happened to be passing by and she asked him about them. He came over & looked at them and said "yeah, we accept them". She looked at him & said "well so-and-so said we weren't supposed to." He just shrugged his shoulders and she took my coupons off and I paid & left. Another reminder to myself why I don't shop there!

FYI-whether or not it matters, my coupons were from a color printer & had the watermarks clearly visible, although I don't think that was the issue here

Walmart has never given me any trouble with internet coupons or anything else. If there is something in question I respond respectfully to the workers in the store and don't treat them like idiots or break into swearing or just being generally mean, as so many in this thread have thought is the best way to respond.

I've found, not just with Walmart but everywhere that I shop, that when I am calm and don't go off the handle with people, I tend to get better service and help with things they usually wouldn't go out of their way for with anyone else. I do my best to yell at those people who go off the handle at cashiers and talk down to them because I know the cashiers are unable to say what they're really thinking when some old dirtbag with a handful of coupons starts saying bullshit and thinks it's clever to say they're taking their business elsewhere. What kind of business do people like that have honestly? Is there a business industry made up of dirty fat people with sketchy coupons who yell and act like crazy people in public? Because I've never been to those businesses, and honestly, I would never want to work or buy from someone who behaved like that to strangers, since you have to wonder what kind of treatment you would receive if you were on a first name basis with them. I have to wonder sometimes how many of these people think they are in the right to treat those workers the way that they do. I usually get a smile and a thank you from the cashier afterwards and I tend to get preferential treatment and they go out of their way to help me. It pays not to be the bad end of the horse.

Most Walmarts at my location accept with no problems except one location.

I emailed this incident on Walmart's website:
Hi. I want to report the incident yesterday{Saturday, Feb 8th, 2008 around 3:15pm}. I had stuffs around over $100. A black female nice cashier rang the register and it would not work and had to reboot. Then I gave her one coupon from my computer to print this coupon. She had to call someone to check and the black female was like in bad mood and told her no. I tried to show this female the Walmart's policy on coupon the letter and she would not read the letter from Walmart. She had no name tag on her. Naturally, we walked out not buying at all and will not go back there again with not friendly environment and not accept coupon from my computer. There are more coupons printing from email and their website. They try to save stamps that way and we end up to pay to print coupons on paper and ink from the printer. We do not appreciate to waste our papers and inks whenever they ask us to print for them and not accept at stores. :>(

I had a few cashiers here at the Orlando Walmart who was unwilling to take the internet coupons. So I just called up Walmart and spoke with the the store's General Manager ( I cannot give his name) and informed him of my prior issues regarding using the coupons. He told me it depends on the manager at the time. But just give his name if ever I run into a problem next time. I have not had any more problems using my coupons. Good Luck..

My sister has told me of her Wal-Mart coupon whoos. I just thought it was our local store but must be nation wide. Do the cashiers get in trouble for the coupons?

Guess I'll continue to cross the street to Meijer or Target. They take ALL my coupons, expired or otherwise! Sometimes I can use more that one on items (ie. $1.00 off 2 boxes of cereal. I will use 2 coupons).

I have had problems with Wal-Mart taking coupons period. There is one store here that is so friggin stupid and I mean stupid. They say 1 coupon period. You can buy 40 items but you can only use 1 coupon. WTH why would I buy a paper if I can only use 1 of the coupons in the inserts??

Anyways, the one I shop at all the time, I had an awful expericence there once and the csm caught me in my worst mood ever to be shopping. I was suppose to fix some stuff for my sons banquet and guess what it took them quite sometime to ring me out and then the stupid cms decided I had too many coupons and tried to enfore the stupid policy of 40 items 1 coupon and i was so pissed. I had already swiped my cc when he cancelled the whole thing. Anyways, that just really ticked me off and he started acting like I was stealing something by using coupons, boy that ran all over me. Needless to say I ended up cussing him out, I was in a hurry to beat the bus home it was a 30 min drive home and he cancelled the whole transcation. He threatened to have me removed by security and I told him go ahead if it makes you feel bigger than you are to do so. He didn't Yep, I emaild corporate, and even called the number they called me with to call. Lets just say that young csm boy now works in the pet department. Needless to say I spend more of my money at Kroger's now.

As long as the bar code can scan there shouldn't be a problem,I mean it can only scan each bar code once right.I'm sure there's some people that go through the lines over and over and waste there time and some types of coupons get scanned and reproduced, thats what there probably trying to minimize and I don't blame them for that.I always print black and white with ink saver on.I haven't ever had a problem and I bring in a stack of about 30 coupons...no problem.Has anyone had problems recently?

A lot of Walmarts in eastern SD won't take internet coupons- even after I show them the printed store policy...they say "there is a place somewhere on the site that says- each store is different, each store makes their own decision on certain things, and it's not printed in the coupon policy" i would rather shop at Target anyways. I am getting so fed up with Walmart in general! They have horrible fresh fruit, veggies and meat! Nothing is fresh and it's all worse quality (at least at the ones around here anyways). I avoid WM like the plague!

I shop at our SWM regularly. The store is well stocked and generally clean and organized (especially when you consider how busy it is all the time). I don't usually use internet coupons there because I've been able to do better stacking at Target, but I have used coupons for items that Target doesn't carry. And I haven't had any problems until a couple of weeks ago. When I checked out, the cashier called a manager over who said they no longer take internet coupons. Even though I had the WM coupon policy with me, I didn't show it to the mgr as it had been a while since I had printed it, and I didn't know if the policy had changed. I went to another SWM and used the coupons with no problems. I checked the policy when I got home, it hadn't changed, so I called corp and spoke with a very nice rep. Gave her the info, she said individual stores can apply different rules for their stores. So why isn't that posted on the web site? But, 2 days later I got a call from my regular SWM store manager, who said he had checked the policy and that he would inform the staff that they should take internet coupons. Next shopping trip, no problems. It was worth a call.

BTW bjhac, where in WNY are you?

New to the forum so I apologize if this was covered in the previous 18 pages of this thread.

Don't expect superior customer service at Wal-mart. Those employees are low paid and over worked. They don't like that 2 out of 30 checkout lanes are open anymore than you do. If they could find better jobs they would.

With that said, use the self checkout lane if you don't want to be hassled. You can use your coupons there as well. Heck you can even use the same coupon 10 times if you bought 10 of the items. Just rescan it over and over. All there is in the self checkout lane is a small box with a slot in it to deposit the coupon when you are done if you so feel inclined. I don't think Walmart actually collects the paper coupons and sends them in to the manufactures for reimbursement. I believe it is all electronically sent from the scan info when you swiped it. So who cares if you had 1 or 20 coupons. You are taking advantage of a deal the manufacture wants you to use and Walmart accepts. No one is ripping anyone off.

Just be aware in the self-checkout if you purchase alcohol or a flagged item like glue or certain OTC cold meds the machine will ask for a CSM to come over and approve your purchase.

So just swipe your items, then at the end swipe your coupons and see if there is any problem. If it doesn't want to take it then get a CSM to approve it. This will bypass the underlings who think hassling a good paying customer is worth the time.

Some of the self check outs ask you to deposit your coupon immediately after you scan it and the computer stops until you do it. There is a sensor in the box. So scanning the same coupon more than once would not work with this kind of self check out. I have gone to both kinds of scos, so I know that both exist.

What I hate is freakin' WM morons or any other moron who works at any other store who sees my internet manufacturer coupon and tries to say that they don't accept photo copies. These people are just idiots. It's sad that 90% of these employees/managers that I run into think a printed page is a photo copy. I'd like to know exactly how they have come to the conclusion that either a color or b&w page is a photocopy instead of what I printed off my HP deskjet.

I agree! Plus the last 2 x I went there were scary men begging for $$ in the parking lot. Please share any locations of wm In Atlanta or GA that accept ipq's and are nice thx. There were 3 clearance tables with assorted goods for 30-50% off at the perimeter swm. Lindt chocolate bars were $1.50 but expire in 4/08. Easter stuff was 50% off and measely pickins. I never find peelies at WM do you?  Dh says that it is because they have the lowest negotiated prices w/M. Is that true? Renew travel size cost $1.50-$2 MQ from a Pearle Vision tearpad = .50 overage. There were3 types of Colgate trials for .50-.74-$1MQ from Publix or $1.50 IPMQ. Fresh looking cucumbers were .50. My Walmarts accept IP's as long as they scan. They are eyeballed, but are put through eventually.
We have a brand new Walmart and I can't believe it, but it's the nicest big box store, ever!
The betty crocker icing was back to $1.xx, not .88 anymore.

I did the same thing. Well, I spoke to the manager directly, but I kept his name for future reference. I was at WalMart a couple weeks ago, being checked out by a supervisor. She tried to deny my coupons for dinobites, when I dropped the name and conversation I had with him, she said I must be special and took the coupons! But, made it a point to tell me they don't normally do that, they must be making an exception for me! lol.

cashier told me they do not take internet q's but she would go check... she came back with an OK for this time, but generally they will NOT take them she said.
she actually went thru my bags to be sure I really had 4 bottles of mrs dash...
cause i had 4 q's-
doesn't the register say item not found or something if you use a q and didn't buy that item?... like the money comes out of her paycheck...

They do not have the right to check unless there is a GOOD reason to or if they saw you on tape or by their own eyes doing something wrong.

Fist off, I'm always in a hurry, so I don't appreciate you recommending I starve :shake:

Now then, I'm inclined to agree with the previous poster. I shouldn't be stopped unless there's cause. I get delayed enough having to deal with the long lines, because they only have one cashier, because they think that's ok since they have 10 self checkout lanes open that take 10 times as long because you keep getting the "please remove unscanned item from the bagging area" even though it's been scanned, or "please place item in the bagging area" even when it already has been, that I'll be damned if it's their "right" to delay me again when I'm trying to leave the store with merchandise it took me a half hour to pay for.

Thank you. That is all

I'm glad I read the first post. I went to the Walmart today in Renton, Wa to use my Scotch-brite coupons and the cashier told me they don't take internet coupons. I told her I had read their coupon policy online and they do take them. She went and talked to her manager and came back and took my coupons.

Hi I can relate! When this happened to me the manager was MIA. After about 7 minutes I had to leave. :shake: I bought some fresh garlic cloves and they were not fresh. The self scan here only allows 1 MQ before it freezes. I have never seen the Fast Fixing's Dinos's there. Last night the tag in the freezer was finally removed. I did get Zantac 150 cool mint sort w/some overage. It was $3.98-$5 MQ from smartsource.com. Some printers were marked down a bit. HTH>

Just letting you know about my experience.

My internet coupons were denied about 2 days ago at my local Wal Mart (Plainview, Texas). I was told that they do not accept them. The little casher was really really sweet.
I did not have my coupon policy with me so I could not show it to them. And it was no bigger cause I had like $2.00 in coupons.

I called my local Wal Mart today and was told that they do not take internet coupons because Wal Marts cash registers do not recognize the coupons. WTH?!?!?! That made no sense to me. I did tell the lady that the corp web site does say that they will accept them. She directed me to call 1-800-Wal-Mart.

James at CORPORATE tells me that it is TOTALLY up to the manage at each different Wal Mart to determine if they will or will not take internet coupons. I pointed out to James that their web sites states that they WILL and no where does it say that it is at the managers whim. James stated that he will put a local manager in contact with me in the next 5 business days.

Looks like I may be fighting a losing battle but I am at least going to try to get it changed here. :swordfit:

I posted this in the lounge in the wee hours of the morning last night, but felt that I should have posted it in the coupon section. I look and did not see anything about this being posted,so if its a repost,sry....

I know some people have had problems using internet coupons at Wal-Mart. Well they do take them.

This should solve any problems that you may have had at the checkouts in the past. Copy, paste and print this out and next time you go to Wal-Mart take this with you...Good Luck!

I had that happen to me the last 3 x I went to wm. ..ugh.. I pulled out the policy printout and they still did not get it! I called the manager the next day. He promised to have a meeting and relay the info . He was pleasant and apologized..but did not offer anything.. :shake: gc etc.. I felt like I wasted gas going there! I tried the Kmart Beauty in Bloom booklet $2 off Healing Garden and $2 off Calgon. The HG one went thru but the Calgon would not. The MOD/ head cashier Morshawn said she could not overried it! It states good on any of that lines products..ugh.. drama. I was furious! Also she said that I could only use one of my .55 cereal MQ'S..I had 4 boxes ! WTF! Their cashiers and head cashiers are rude, and dumb! The restrooms were disgusting ! They always are! They always have urine and black pubic hair on the toilet seats:eek: The WM I went to as a kid was so perfect, clean, friendly, kind cashiers. good and fair prices and itmes, do not remember any greeters. The one's here rarely smile and greet anyone. The lines are so long ..then they expect me to show a greeter my receipt! I would love to have one with 20 rubbers, 4 KY's,25 Butt pastes and a banana. I think they are a waste of $$. I wish they would train the cashiers properly and get rid of the greeters! Then they could lower the prices a bit more! The customer service folks here are also rude and a nightmare! Most of the employees up front are busy socializing with each other :look: . I resent that too! I can see why many folks stopped shopping at WM. I seek a deal not a steal and want to feel like they appreciate me spending my hard earned $.

I got a walmart flyer in the mail today and starting Sunday they are having a special price on the Scrubbing Bubbles Shower Cleaner doo-hickey for $12. There is a $10 MQ from the Sunday inserts and I believe there might also be a mail in rebate (? not sure about that, though). Even if you don't need the actual contraption, it's worth getting just for the cleaner refill, I think.

Humm.. you were one of the 3 folks who told me about the crab deal . Thank you for that. I put it over a bed of shredded lettuce with advacados on the sides and Publix brand cocktail sauce. It is healthier than a lot of the stuff I eat! lol...Of course I would much rather have the real thing...but hey it is so reasonable. I also bought the fake shrimp and crab one which was added to Target's brand Alfredo sauce over pasta. It looks a bit odd but my foster kids loved it. I went to WM last night and got some 2 LB.... You were lucky you got the overage. The Marquette, MI WM: No overages on 4/18. AND when I gave the cashier the qs, she told me they don't take IPs. I asked for manager, C.S. Manager came, told me the same thing, Whipped the WM qpn policy from their website out of my qpn. box for the C.S. Manager to see & "What happened since I was here 2 wks ago? My qpns. were fine then". Store Manager arrived, his biggest complaint: fraud & people wiping the shelves clean of the product, and having this come out of his pocket (TRANSLATION: No End Of Year Bonus). I replied: WM has the ability, as all retailers do, access a databank for retailers that know which products will have coupons and at what date, that way the retailer may order sufficient quantities of the item/s. Also, smartsource & bricks qs are verifiable, legitimate, on the majority of those, a person is allowed to print only 2 & shut out, but it depends on how the manufacturer wants the qpn. set up. I had to do some teaching with this Arkansas (yes, he's from there, all the way to Michigan's U.P., & no offense to other Arkanasians), as no one had every taught him diddily squat about IPs. I even went as far as pulling out my printed copy from smartsource.com, the letter you whip out when retailers refuse to take IPs. He grabbed it, read it (or at lest made it look like reading), took a couple of notes, gave it back to me. Then quickly leafed through my handful of qs, IPs & Sund. circs, gave them back to the cashier. Then I replied: Look at my cart, I super shop here every 3-4 qks., due to living 45 miles from here, have done this x 15 yrs, there is about $300 worth of goods in that heaping cart, & about $100 of qs in your hand. If you refuse to take those valid, scannable qpns. which goes against Corporate WM's policy, I will leave the cart right there, walk past you & out the front door. And yes, I will do it. (Don't threaten folks, actually Do It: Leave The Cart & Walk Out of the Store). Then you can pay OT to have a stock person put all these items from this heaping cart back on the shelves where I got them. He told the cashier: Take all that scan. He said he was happy that I came into the store while he was on duty, & glad for the education. I said my pleasure, he asked for my name, then we shook hands. Hopefully that's the last of that. Total in qs: $111.50. No overages, this cashier by the book, adjusted the price down on the Zantac, $3.98. I'll find out in a few wks. if I have this trouble again. And don't think I won't call that manager on the carpet again, let alone a nice nasty gram to whomever in Corporate WM.

I know. It's been in my fridge nearly a month. I don't know what to do with it.

Put it in a seafood macaroni salad (baby shrimp, tuna, imitatn. crab, etc.)
Also: good in tomato soup; tomato bisque (can of tomato soup, dressed up (recipe on net somewhere)
Make some crab dip with it: mayo, miracle whip, tiny touch of dill, little sour cream, put on crackers,; The little tub of Crab dip @ WM deli sells for $3.00!!! MUCH CHEAPER to make at home.
Look up recipes on the net for crab; You can do just about ANYTHING with imitatn. crab that you can do with real crab.
ALSO: Don't be afraid to freeze the imitatn. crab. It does Not change: taste nor texture when thawed.
I should know, I've been doing this since the stuff was put on the market to buy, like 15 or more yrs. ago.

No offense to anyone here but I find if you go to the younger cashiers they take the coupons easier, if you go to an old or middle aged person who might not be versed in the ways of the internet they will instantly reject you like its coming out of their own pocket if they take the coupon. Also they get a bit miffed when you say "internet" coupon, because they don't know what the internet is. I have had so much trouble at walmart with the older clerks here, just because they act like every time they have to give something on a transaction that its coming out of their own pocket plus they act all snotty like you are making them do extra work, yet I have gotten younger clerks to do simple price overrides with no hesitation at all.

Also technically they are getting money back for that coupon you use, since the manufacturer reimburses them +7 cents (read the terms on most coupons), so technically they are making money when you use a coupon there, so I am not sure why they wouldn't take the coupon if it makes them money.

Obviously at some stores you might not have a choice, but our walmart pretty much has the same clerks working there all the time, so we know which ones give you a hard time and make you wait longer at the register and which ones will take the coupons and honor honest price changes that are not in the system with no problem.

I want to go now to get some free w coupon SBrite toilet bowl cleaner kits. How many printables will they take in one transaction? Is there a corp rule on that? Its not in the coupon policy printout. Other than each store making up its own rules, is there a rule I can refer to or know before I go? Just want to know how many to get per trans with no prob.

Tip: If you use self check-out, you can scan your coupons and then keep them for re-use later! Just dont put them in the "coupon" slot.

or if you think they are watching...

Bring a bunch of random coupons with you, at the self check-out counter scan the coupon you want to use, then shove one of the "other" coupons in the slot. If you get caught, just say "oh, sorry, I have so many I forgot which one i was using!"

First of all that's stealing. It's people like you that make it hard for legit coupon users like me. You are a classic form of coupon abuser and I feel you should have to pay full price for your lying, cheating behavior. Someone who does that is just a crappy individual with no character!!! Coupons are available many different ways, how lazy could you be? To post something like that means you have no common sense. The whole point of SD in my opinion it is to help save money when we need to, splurge when we get to. This is not about robbing companies and then bold face lying about it and making it difficult for the rest of the human population. It's you people that make going to CVS or any other store a pain in the ass!!

Hmm... I know there was a previous comment about this earlier...

But, working at wal-mart is hard! No, I don't mean the job itself - it's something a monkey could do. -___-; but dealing with customers all day, very difficult. I know that many people who go through are rude and are very difficult to deal with. It's a job where you have to put up with a lot of verbal abuse for a mere 7$/hour. So, try to be patient with the cashiers. It is not their fault if they were told that the store doesn't take the internet coupons. Just go to the customer service desk or something and ask first before you try to use your coupons. Or call beforehead. :/ I dunno, I'll probably get flamed for this, since like... everyone seems to like to flame these sort of posts. =___=

Thats one thing but I actually had a lady yell at me yesterday. THey do take internet coupons, and yesterday she read each and every one of my coupons, and then proceded to tell me that since I had more than one coupon and they all said "one per purchase" I had to pick one to use. I got very embarassed and then tried to explain that that meant one per item, not per transaction. THe lady turned around to the guy behinf me and told him that he better get in another line because I was going to argue with her over $2. It was more like $10, and thats what It costs in gas just to get there. I know its difficult to deal with customers, but when your rude to the lady with 10 coupons and 60 items, it just makes someone have to put back the 60 items because you made the lady tear up and she left.

On that note, does anyone know of anywhere walmart actually defines "one per purchase"? The way its worded in the policy didnt help me any

Is there such a thing as a 10% off coupon for anything in Walmart? I never see one.

The only W*M discount I have ever seen is the 10% discount for employees and the $20 bonus for opening and spending $100 on a W*M Discover card.

BTW...I went there yesterday and was buying Egg Beaters. I had a coupon that I had from the little red SmartSource machine from Giant Eagle. Even though it was a MFR coupon, the cashier refused to take because it wasn't from W*M. Has anyone else had this problem? This is the first time I have encountered this problem anywhere.

I used to work at Wal Mart way back when. If I was you I would have asked to talk to a CSR. Once the CSR showed up I would tell them that the woman has verbally abused you over you asking to use legit coupons. Then she went on to deface you as a person by talking to the other people in line saying that they were going to have to wait because you were "arguing" over 2 dollars.

In most cases like that rude line workers get canned. I've seen it done more times than 1. People that want to yell at customers that work a cash register blow me away. If you don't like dealing with people why the hell are you working a cash register?

I hate people that bitch and complain about what you are SUPPOSED TO DO at your job. Get a life or get a different job.

Obviously at some stores you might not have a choice, but our walmart pretty much has the same clerks working there all the time, so we know which ones give you a hard time and make you wait longer at the register and which ones will take the coupons and honor honest price changes that are not in the system with no problem.
great post :yahoo:

I thought I would jump in on this coupon debate for Walmart, a brand spanking new Wal mart will be opening up this week in my town. I will be a cashier and in training class I asked about the coupon policy and I was told that we accept all coupons. I asked if that included internet coupons and internet coupons for free stuff. I was told yes. I told them about my experience with coupons and various merchants and wanted to know where Wal mart stood. The Manager of each store has the right to change the coupon policy as he sees fit, regardless of what the Corporate policy says on the website.. If the store feels that there is a lot of fraud going on the policy will be changed. SO YMMV. I asked about the coupons that you get at the grocery store that print out at the register. Even though it may say manufacture coupon on it, but has a Food Lion logo, we are not to accept it.

Not sure how many people in my area will be hitting us up with internet coupons, but I will scan them and keep on moving until they tell me otherwise.

Is there such a thing as a 10% off coupon for anything in Walmart? I never see one.

Yes there is and you don't need a coupon to get the discount, just buy something and the discount is automatically applied :) their prices are already the lowest imo and if they had a coupon like that and their prices get any lower it would be curtains for other department stores. Buy yea i never heard of a 10% off either but we can all keep dreaming

My WalMart sucks so bad!!!

I live in a smaller city (pop. 15,000) and I'm quite sure the employees recognize me/know who I am since I go there several times/week. I now always go through SCO because I like to use re-usable canvas bags and many of the clerks have acted like this is a major inconvenience for them.

Anyway, I use as many coupons, including internet coupons, as I can each week -- all honest and legit. Without fail, as soon as I start running my coupons, the SCO clerk comes over and watches over my shoulder (I've never seen them do this to anyone else ... in fact, when you need one you can never find one). And without fail they ask me EVERY time "Are those coupons printed from the internet???". I've also felt I have to defend myself and say something like "Yes, they're from manufacturer's websites." They either don't say anything else, or they start in on a lecture about how they won't take it if it doesn't scan, as they continue to watch over my shoulder until I've finished, paid, and left.

This has been going on for months. After today I've had it and decided I need to change how I handle it. Next time, as soon as I'm questioned I'm going to respond enthusiastically with a great big smile saying, "Yes, isn't that fantastic that WalMart states right on their website that they take internet coupons? You should check out coupons.com and you'd be amazed at what you can find for yourself!!!"

I'm hoping it will catch them off guard and maybe they'll leave me alone. I'll report back ...

I went to Walmart last night and the first thing the cashier asked me is if those coupons were from the internet. I really hate getting older cashiers because they act like the internet is some scary place and every coupon from the internet is bad. I said yes they are but you take internet coupons. The policy is on your website. She said I know that but then proceeded to call a manager anyway making everyone behind me in line wait. Finally the manager comes over and he looks at the coupons and says Are those off the internet sorry we cant take those. I whipped out the walmart policy I had printed out so fast and shoved it in his face and said Oh yes you do, so he said all right then take it. He was so rude about it though. I told my son in front of him that I was calling corporate. The thing is I didn't really even want the lunch meat.

I'm sure you meant well with your post, but to be honest, I gave up trying to read it. For someone with so much "schooling," you may want to go back and add some punctuation every now and then.

Okay, I know this is a really, really old post but I wanted to comment. It is not the young generation who doesn't know how to use punctuation correctly, it is the older generation. If you have had kids go through English courses in high school they are NOW taught not to insert commas just to make things more easily read. I would try and proof read my kids' papers and inserting commas according to the "old" rules decreased the points that they received on their work.

I don't know why punctuation rules have changed in recent years - and I am not sure I agree - but, for better or worse, they are definitely different now.

Why don't you guys just stop shopping at Wal-Mart? Target is cheaper and they pay their employee wages and medical insurance. Plus they aren't selling harmful chemicals from China. Read up on Wal-Mart and their practices. They don't take internet coupons? They don't double them anyways if they are less than a dollar and they want to continue ripping off the public. I am sure they will find a way to start ripping off the manufacturer and then they will start taking them again.

So...I've never really had problems with WM and coupons until tonight. I had about $45 in coupons and $110 worth of groceries. My cashier was great, but she was so fast with the Qs! I couldn't keep up with her. After checking out, I realized that she skipped over the Kraft Cheese one (from the Parade). I'm trying not to be bummed about it ('cause I got a couple overages on Qs, but they still didn't add up to the price of the cheese). I think she scanned it, but then kept going, so when it beeped to enter the price, she just kept scanning coupons. Anyway, I want to use that coupon and I only had one! Should I call the store or manager? I checked and double-checked my receipt.

Just call customer service and say you know that one of your coupons didn't scan but you didn't realize it until afterwards.. I'm sure they will give you the money back. (or either on to your card.)

There's no stores that take internet coupons here in Buffalo, NY & surrounding area. So I email the companies that hace a contact us link on the site for internet coupons and tell them. Also, I ask them to send them to me thru the mail. Most of the companies not only send the coupon I'm asking for but, they send extras, and sometimes free ones.

On the coupons, a lot of times stores get ripped off a lot with people photocopying the coupons so some stores may not take them at all.

You're getting paid $7 an hour to work there & the coupons don't come out of your paycheck, so why do you care?

You were quoting a post that said this "On the coupons, a lot of times stores get ripped off a lot with people photocopying the coupons so some stores may not take them at all. "

And said this... "You're getting paid $7 an hour to work there & the coupons don't come out of your paycheck, so why do you care?"

Maybe it was the wording you said, but I took offense to it as a Wal-Mart employee. Yes, it's temporary.. and I'm glad it is, but you act as if it is a job one should be ashamed of.. when, in fact, it isn't. You can work at Wal-Mart and really make more than the average person. Of course, I don't mean just cashiers (though I know some long year employees make bank!) assistant managers and above all make competitive salaries.

The point of my post was this.. if people photocopy coupons that are not supposed to be photocopied knowingly, then that is entirely unethical and morally wrong. Also, the cashier has a right to say nope I can't do that for you. You (as a customer) have every right to go to customer service and ask them to do it for you. You can go to another cashier if you want. I personally, if I ever felt I had a fraudulent coupon (which I'm sure if I ever received one I wouldn't know it, I would simply call the CSS over and ask them what I should do so I know my job is secure.)

People get to upset over coupons when they don't ring up right away. You will eventually get your deal, we all try to help. The horrible part is when us (the customers) get bad cashiers who don't want to help, but that does not mean we (the customers) should generalize about the workers at Wal-Mart.

(ok, sorry.. stepping off the soap.. I didn't mean to make you offended, however I felt I needed to respond to the post which didn't really make me feel great as a Wal-Mart employee)

Re: Walmart's Pirce Match Policy, if I print a circular or a "shopping list" that includes the sale dates, prices, sales products from the company's website, will Walmart honor the price? (example, Albertsons has capri sun for 1.50. They dont have an option to print their circular like Minyards. I put it on my shopping list with them and print it out. For some reason the circulars aren't coming anymore in the papers and its a little too far to drive for certain sales.

I want to say Walmart will only honor prices from local stores. For example, if you do not have an Albertsons locally then Walmart will not honor their prices. Now, with that said, if you are trying to price match from a local store I know Walmart has copies of all of the local stores flyers at each register (or at least our Walmart does). But to make it easier and save time when you get a cashier that need to look everything up, I always bring a copy of the sale ad or a printout from online.

I did not have a pleasant experience today at wal-mart. I had 10 of the Land O Lakes coupons. They told me it was only 1 per transaction (it plainly states 1 per purchase). So I finally told them then fine, just ring up 10 different transactions. They (got 3 different managers in on it) told me that they could not do that. You could only use 1 coupon in 24 hours or it would be fraud. WHAT???? Needless to say I went to the Wal-mart closer to my house and used the other 9. Some people are just goofy! This is the first time I have had issues with coupons.

I have been reading these forums (seeing as I am incredibly new to the entire coupon world) and have not posted yet. But, I went to Wal-Mart today and wanted to thank you guys for the heads up on the "Internet Coupons" issue.

Sure enough, they tried to tell me they would not accept "Home printed coupons". I showed her the print out from their website saying they did take those Internet coupons. She started to argue with me, so I asked for a manager (the woman was VERY rude). The manager came over and I handed her the print out. She took the print out and all my coupons and just left with them.

I stood there absolutely speechless for a bit. About 10 mins later she came back with the print out, and all my coupons (Yep, I checked, they were all there). I was able to use all of them.

Thank you so much for warning about this. Otherwise I would have just turned around and walked out without buying a single thing.

...... The WM I went to as a kid was so perfect, clean, friendly, kind cashiers. good and fair prices and itmes, do not remember any greeters. The one's here rarely smile and greet anyone. The lines are so long ..then they expect me to show a greeter my receipt! I would love to have one with 20 rubbers, 4 KY's,25 Butt pastes and a banana. I think they are a waste of $$. I wish they would train the cashiers properly and get rid of the greeters.....

I know, the receipt checkers make me feel like I'm a criminal. here's the facts:
Laws very from state to state, but for the most part, you are not legally required to show them the receipt at the door. Once you've paid for you items, they are your property, and anyone who tries to force you to show the items in your bag without probably cause is violating your rights. I make a point of telling them "NO THANK YOU!" with a big friendly smile when they ask fro my receipt now, and I never have any problems. one elderly lady told me "I have to check our receipt, sir", to which I politely replied "I'm busy and in a hurry, if you or store security have reason to believe I've stolen anything, call the police or have store security physically detain me. bye." at which point I walked out, and I noticed the person behind me smiled a told her "no thank you" as well .
If they physically try to stop you, 99% of the time they will be guilty of assault, and you've got a lawsuit on your hands. subpeona every single store employee and some corporate level management, and they'll settle quickly.

make sure to check out the consumerist for more info and legality of these types of checks on your way out of a store. Costco can do it because when you signed up for membership, you agreed to their rules, one of which is verifying your receipt and items on the way out; retail stores like walmart have no such legal justification for this since you never agreed to any terms of use before entering walmart.

pneeb
08-11-2008, 03:15 PM
I agree with feeling like a criminal because of the door checkers asking to see your receipt, but I also understand the store's side of the equation. There have been many instances where people have walked out with items so it's a checks and balances type thing and they had to implement the policy to affect everyone. Example: Someone buys a 4 drawer file cabinet at Sam's or Costco. That person fills the drawers with goodies. The cashier scans the UPC code. It's not an item that is picked up to be checked and moved one cart/flatbed to another because of the weight of the item. So just in case the cashier didn't check the drawers of the file cabinet, the door checker may and will verify your receipt. People used to put computers, monitors, tvs, anything they could get into something large and enclosed and just pay for the large item, hence stealing the other items.

Another example would be items on the bottom of the cart not scanned and paid for. This happens on accident sometimes too. I've done this one myself. It's unfortunate that people steal stuff, but it happens and we have to pay the inconvenience charge.

But I've never had this happen to me at Walmart. When I bring something in to return, yes they've asked me if I have my receipt and put a sticker on the item, but not when I'm leaving have they asked to see my receipt.

BTW... no I don't work at Sam's, Costco or Walmart.

Ha.. That happened to my mom once at K-Mart, she forgot she had a case of beer on the bottom of the cart and walked right out with it. Oops.. no one caught us or anything! We payed for the other stuff, but not the beer! Then I came up with the conclusion that everything in a case does not set off those security bells and whistles.. I know Pepsi doesn't, cause at my local Giant Eagle, they keep Pepsi cases out side of those security beeper things.. and there are no camera in the lobby...and if their were, you would be in your car by the time they find out! But that is the only thing we got away with, was the beer.

I'm a cashier at walmart, and I just wanted to let you guys know about some new coupons... er well fake coupons that walmart will not accept. At my store, we have no problems accepting internet coupons and don't hastle customers about it. Then again, most of us cashiers are college students and we don't mind saving you a buck or two because we understand being poor. Corporate just let us know that there is an internet coupon company that is releasing fraudulant coupons and we are not getting reimbursed for them, and are not to accept them. The information I have is that these coupons are from Vyrl Marketing, or Vyrimits. The mail to address on the coupon is Vyrlmkt, CMS Dept 95857, 1 Fawcett Drive, Del Rio, TX 78840. The problem with these coupons is that they do scan, but they are fraudulant. So, please don't encourage your cashier to just try to scan the coupon to see if it works even if you know it is fraudulant, as they will probably lost their job if they do.

The reason (i would assume) that some of the cashiers get ugly about accepting coupons is because the coupany has a system of points, and after 5 points you get fired. You get points for a variety of reasons, you could get one for knowingly accepting a coupon that the company would not be reimbursed for, you get a point for not being on time, calling in sick, if one of the cash drawers you are on that day is more than $5 off (even though you're not the only cashier on it), and many more reasons, It is very easy to receive points. I have 2 already and I've only been with the company for three months. Thankfully each point will drop after having it for 6 months. After three points, you talk to a manager. After four points you get sent home for a day. Then the fifth point, you're out. I guess what I really want to get across here, is that please don't give your cahier too much grief. They're doing as they were told, and if they don't do so, it could easily mean they lose their job.

Also, I'm sorry that some walmarts are not friendly about accepting coupons, and even more that some make you stop at the door. The walmart I work at thankfully does not make you stop at the door, unless you have an expensive electronic purchuse (ie over $500) or an item's sensor has not been demagnetized at the register, as that would be a real hassle, and I totally understand why that would be upsetting. I'm also sure, that every walmart employee agrees that children should be on leashes or in the cart.. hahaa..... :)

I know you gave the name of the distributer and the address, but can you tell us the actual products the coupons are for?I have old eyes and need a magnifying glass to read that info on a coupon,so it would be a lot easier if we knew the products to look for.

Good thing Walmart has vision centers,I can see all of the cashiers suffering from eye strain now.

I'm glad you found out where they are from, as the only other info I was given was that it was for over 40 differing items, and a most of them are offering coupons for more than the retail value of the product.

yeah I got that same thing today.. they told me that got a message a couple days ago from corporate not to take ANY internet coupons. they said it had something to do with security and something else. they also told me they could not adjust down manufactures coupons or get an overage. so i can not longer use all the poweraid coupons i have. All this was directly from the store manager. and of course i walked out and left my pile of groceries there for them

The WM's around here still take IPMQ's and they give overage too.

Just yesterday the cashier recognized me and ran to get the supervisor, like I was going to GET EM or something. ROFL! Cashier rung up my crap, then supervisor stepped in and took my Q's. Supervisor turned and asked/said to cashier 'Am I doing this right?' Cashier didn't say a word the whole time! I found that interesting cause the cashier knew that I was getting overage.

Each store manager or each district manager can make their own decision for coupons. As far as I know, my store still takes them, although I have been off work for 2 days now. It could be that certain stores were getting too many of the fraudulant coupons and had to do away with all internet coupons. My store hasn't gotten too many of the coupons, although one customer did come in with about 30 of the coupons. The cashier explaned to her the situation, and she still bought all the items! :)

I shared the awesome tgif $3 Q with a friend at another site (non-deal site, lol) and jsut got this PM there:
Heyas tvip....went to wal mart this morn and got a bunch of crap from the store mgr about the coupons. The cashier grabbed the mgr and had her bring a book over of fradulent coupons. i asked what was going on? the mgr told me they have been defrauded with numerous online coupons. I was like oh now i am a thief huh? she preceeds to go thru the book and does not find the coupons in there. So i was like so whats the problem? she said they will still not accept the coupons because they looked fake?? I was like unacceptable. I preceeded to have a fit and demanded the manager have her boss come to the front of the store immediately which surprisingly she did. well what happened next was too sweet....The store managers boss tore into her telling her she needed to read the policy of wal-mart for online coupons. She told him she knew what it was but said the coupons still looked fake. he then told her to go on break and read up on store policy immediately that it is not their practice to make a paying customer feel demeaned. If the coupons arent in the book then they are fine to use. So I told her thanks for making me look like a thief that i did not appreciate it. her boss then surprised me comping me the 4 items i grabbed and also gave me a 20 dollar gift card for the inconvenience..lmao. the store mgr then stomped away like a little baby and her boss followed her to make sure she went to read up on store policy....LOL
so i got 4 free tgi fridays snacks and 20 bucks out of it...lmao
Those coupons are too sweet

it pays so stand your ground and ask for the REAL store manager, lol!

Make sure they are using the hand scanner if the flatbed scanner doesn't work.

I noticed when they scan the very first coupon (any kind) it makes a 3-tone sound. Then it says "$x.xx Valid Coupon Amount?" Most cashiers just verify the coupon says the amount, not the item price.

My Wal-Mart refused the coupons yesterday because they wouldn't scan and they didn't have them in their little "booklet" of acceptable internet coupons. They took all my other internet coupons without any problem because they scanned. The other night I used this coupon and the cashier just put it in as a vendor coupon because she has checked me out MANY times! The copy that I have is blurry and I just went to find it and can't. Anyone know which forum it's in... or does anyone have a clean copy? THANKS!

*knock on wood* I've not had a problem using my internet coupons but for the first time. I had $40 in coupons last week - wasn't a problem. In fact, most cashiers commend me for having so many coupons and being a savvy shopper - what Walmart is supposed to be about after all!

I think what it comes down to is some of the cashiers and managers, etc. don't understand that not only does the store make a sale, get paid back by the manufacturer, but also they make 8 cents on a coupon. So if someone uses 10 coupons, the store gets their money back from the manufacturer plus 80 cents.

I just wanted to send a thank you to the OP. I've been blessed with a Walmart that doesn't give me too hard a time over internet coupons...until today when the cashier told me that they would probably be ceasing to accept them soon. Ack! I'm printing out the policy page to carry with me next time - just in case. So...thank you!

p.s. Just an aside, as good as they are about taking my internet coupons, they wouldn't take the TGIF coupons the last two times I tried :(

** know some people have had problems using internet coupons at Wal-Mart. Well they do take them. Below is a copy of their policy:

Wal-Mart Coupon Policy

Wal-Mart accepts the following types of coupons (see guidelines below):

Manufacturer coupons (Cents Off)
Free merchandise (or Buy-One-Get-One-Free) coupons
Store coupons
Pharmacy (Advertising and Promotional) coupons
Internet coupons
Soft drink container caps

The following are guidelines and limits:

Wal-Mart only accepts coupons for merchandise we sell and only when presented at the time of purchase.

Coupons should have an expiration date and be presented within the valid dates. Wal-Mart will not accept expired coupons.

Internet coupons should be legible and say "Manufacturer Coupon." There should be a valid remit address for the manufacturer and a scannable bar code. Only one coupon per item is permitted.

Use of 40 or more coupons per transaction will require approval by Customer Service Manager.

Don't believe what the cashiers and/or managers tell you until you see it on the WM coupon policy. Cashiers and managers like to make up their own coupon rules, which can vary from store to store.

And then you make sure that you call corporate and let them know of the store's refusal to take them even though you've told them it's corporate's policy.

I work at Wal-Mart part time but I'm not a cashier thank goodness. Anyway if an associate tries to argue with you and you know 100% your right just break out your cell phone and call 1-800-WALMART right there. That will set there butts straight in a heartbeat. The manager will trip all over themselves to make you happy then. :swordfit:

Absolutely true!! I worked at Walmart for about three years in the back office. A call to 1-800-walmart will give an instant message to HQ. The next day the store you complained about will get a message from the president. They have 24 hours to fix the problem or the store gets a demerit.
Trust me... they don't want a demerit. :)

The managers or assistants will fall all over themselves to make you happy. Whatever it takes.

yeah, it as pretty much big news here on SD when they revoked their policy on mis-scanned items. Sucks, but not much we can do about it since most states don't require them to actually give you anything other than the item at the correct price. some states require that they give it to your for free, but most states don't

I was told last weekend that north Hanover, PA store will no longer take internet coupons. So I emailed corporate to complain. Apparently that store got an ear full from corporate because there were 2 messages on my machine from the store. I never got to the manager to see what it was about. But I am assuming it was about the coupons. This past weekend they took my coupons but said they are not taking any internet coupon valued more than $2. The lady ahead of me had a $5 internet coupon for a Brita system and they refused to take it. She walked out leaving her stuff at the checkout.

sue them in small claims dourt for your time & gas. You did you due diligence by reading the coupon policy as stated on their website before you went to walmart, and when you got there, you discovered that the false advertising on their website was just that -false. your time is worth money, as is the gas you used to get there, lol. I can just see hundreds of people suing in small claims court; Walmart would probably not send anyone, and they'd all get a default judgement + court costs!

The manager from that Walmart just called to tell my why they are no longer accepting internet coupons. I know they got hit with the facebook coupons that were out several months ago because these were the coupons shown on the flyer at each register. really, don't let them tell you this! I fought my local WMSC all the way to corp. a few weeks ago.

Talk with store mgr on duty.

If they tell you the store mgr is busy or they call and ask, then tell you what the mgr said, tell them you want to talk to the manager on duty face 2 face or you're calling corp. I'm so tired of untrained or illogical csm's, I did that a couple of days ago at another WMSC and she backed down, before she even knew I had the district office and corp number in my cell phone! Of course since I had cold items, I was probably giving her my evil eye (I'm a scorpio! Sometimes I don't even KNOW I'm doing it!) and I was slightly shaking I was so mad, but I'll be double damed if I back down to big blue! ;)

By the way, I don't use/keep the 800 number for wal mart in my phone - main switchboard

The manager from that Walmart just called to tell my why they are no longer accepting internet coupons.

You know, just for the hell of it, call the district mgr; if your district office, like mine, is also clueless, then call corporate. You should have the manager calling you and, like mine, giving you some LAME excuse why everyone was 'confused'. Basically, mine was pointing fingers at district; I'm sure district would point fingers at the RVP (region).

I dont see what you seeing, there is nothing there about online coupons. Today i was denied online coupons at my local walmart, i couldn't believe that they wouldn't accept it. I havnt seen anything about a class action lawsuit yet, but im temped to start one up because this really irritates me especially because the economy is so bad and were just trying to save a few bucks and they want to be greedy! I usually do not shop at walmart but went tonight to try my hand at the couponing thing there and to see how their prices compare to target where I usually shop. I could not believe how she scrutinized every single coupon I had!!! I had a bunch of the online coupons--that was not an issue at all. I had a coupon for $1/3 progresso soups. Some thing popped up on a printer--weird--which prompted her to actually go through all my bags that were already back in the cart to see how many I bought because she could not figure it out on the receipt she printed off. I guess I only bought 2 and she handed me back my q. Did not even ask if I would want to go grab another can which I would have. And I suppose I could have said something also. Oh well, go figure. I don't think I will be going back there. It's to far from my house to really make a difference. I figure I am paying for gas just to go there which more than likely off sets what I would have saved.

K, this is how i fought my store regarding acceptance of internet q's:

-denied on a weekend evening; csm says no, then manager on duty says no; I decide to give my store manager a chance to fix this :look:
-I stop by CS desk and write down Store Mgr name and Market Mgr (used to be called a District Mgr) name and Market Office number
-call store mgr, says no, even called market office to verify, they both say no
-I gave them both a chance!
-called corp and asked for my RVP (region vp) twice; no answer or VM, so I was trasferred to a CS department at corp;
-sure enough, couple of hours latter, my store mgr says they have reviewed their emails and determined that it's just a couple of internet q's they can't take, (DUH), then I preceeded to discribe the email and they were like, uh, yea, that's the one.

i've never had a problem with my walmart, as long as they can read the coupon at the register, they're ok with it. its about a 50/50 shot whether the internet coupons will scan or not. bought a brand new printer and i use different paper when printing coupons, and still run about 50/50

i've even convinced them to accept multiples on coupons that say "one per customer per day" on the same transaction. woot!

it varies by 'floor manager' on duty. I usually phone ahead & ask if they'll take it. then ask the manager's name. when i get to the store, i tell them <manager's name> said it was ok.

or just go to customer service desk and do same BEFORE you go shopping. do NOT go fill up your cart first -they're more likely to say 'no' then

Copy, paste and print this out and next time you go to Wal-Mart take this with you...Good Luck!

at super walmart a few days ago, the cashier told me no internet Q's at all. Told her I checked walmart's webiste and it said they accept them. she immediately starts making crap up, sayin "Oh it's a brand new policy this week and they haven't had time to update the website yet". I told her "no, it's a specific set of coupons that should be in a folder or binder for you to check mine against that are fraudulent." she again says no, and that they had a meeting that week and new corporate policy was that all walmarts are no longer accepting internet Q's. I told her that if she was going to refuse them, I expected walmart to reimburse me $15 for gas driving all the way to my closest superwalmart for groceries, after I confirmed beforehand on their website that they DO ACCEPT IPQ. at this point she wanders off to office, and comes back 2 minutes later and said "these particular coupons are Okay. My manager looked at them and said they are legit". she then rings me up without making eye contact again or saying one word to me. not even to give me my total, she just stood there like I was some asshat waiting for me to read the display myself. Stand your ground, and educate these idiot cashiers about walmart's own policies, because obviously they're not paying attention at staff meetings.

I can't take it anymore. I understand that you guys have had terrible experiences at your Walmarts, but I really wish that you would give the cashiers a break. Do you realize that we see hundreds of customers in just one shift? We see people right and left trying to scam us by shoving stuff in the toes of shoes or book bags, etc. We get cussed out daily because prices haven't rung up right, etc. WE HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THIS!! We can change the price, but usually the customer starts cursing before we even get the chance to change it! If we take a fraudulant coupon, WE LOSE OUR JOBS! End of story. If you have a problem with them taking coupons, don't curse them out or shove the coupon policy in their face. Every store manager is allowed to have their own policy on the coupons.

Here is what you should do if you have a problem with your coupon being accepted
1. politely tell the cashier that the website says that we take internet coupons
2. if they say things have changed, ask to talk to the csm (customer service manager)
3. if the csm says that we can't take the coupon, ask to talk to the front end manager or store manager, whoever is present.

'Getting back at your cashier' will get you NOWHERE!!! If you are polite and take the necessary steps to get your Q's accepted instead of being RUDE, you might just get somewhere.

I'm sure these steps apply at any store you go to, probably not just walmart. Cashiers are minimum wage peions, and yelling at them to get your way isn't going to work. They have no control over what their manager tells them to do.

Please, think before you act like an ass.

then they should take the initiative and get the correct info from their employer before they start their next shift. As I stated earlier, I have worked retail, and I always made a point of knowing as much about store specials and policies as possible, with the specific intention of:
1. not looking like an idiot to the customers I am assisting.

I wish I had read this before I went to WM today. I had a coupon for a BOGO on Glade Wisp Flameless Candles. At first the cashier said they didn't take any Internet coupons, then went to ask the mgr when I put up a fuss. The MOD said "No," but then came over and said they'd take them for anything less than $2.00! I immediately made her take the "candles" back and told her I'd go elsewhere to get them. When I go back to town next week, I'm taking my coupon and a copy of the policy to WM with me. I love how some of these stores think they don't have to abide by company policy. Thanks OP!

Reading some posts, it seems that Wal-Mart accepts competitor coupons so I have this to ask. I have a circuit city coupon which reads $40 off a purchase of $199 or more (no specifications of what type of purchase it has to be). Does this mean I can get $200 worth of groceries and present this coupon and receive the discount?

Also, not sure if anyone else has posted this, but I have found that coupons don't seem to ever really expire. I just used two coupons that expired 9/30/2007 (yes, September of 2007) and they rang up with the barcode. Never get rid of your coupons because they seem to always work.

Just ask for it and it is done.

Since I have a walmart question, I will ask it here. Does anyone knows if they still have there policy, if a item is rung up wrong. Do you still get 3 dollars off of that item or if it below 3 you get it for free thanks?

I was in Walmart on BF and they refused to price match Guitar Hero to Targets price. They were very shady and said at first that they didnt price match. Then said that they couldnt adjust a price with a difference of greater than $5. The manager said that she would get back to me and they put my order on hold in the register while she went to "go check." I had to wait at the end of the line for over an hour. She never came back so I left. Called Walmart Customer Service when I got home and they took my phone number and said that I would get a call back. I never got a call back.

So maybe its their policy to price match but dont rely on it.

Sorry to hear that happened to you... Unfortunately, like all other things the variable is usually the human(s) you are dealing with, usually at the cash register... How new/motivated/informed/caring they are in the job they are performing... I guess that is an example of YMMV that I always see people post... :(

I had read here on SD that WM was even running TV commercials regarding doing PM's specifically for this BF here on SD:
http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=491034&t=1001487
(you might have to read through both pages to get all the info...)

And I also remember reading that it wasn't just their policy on BF, but always their policy to price match (there are rules of course that have to present proof and that the PM cannot be ambiguous, must state specific item with specific dollar amount of savings and on BF must be within the timeframe that the other store is offering the deal)...

So with that information, I successfully received PM for two items on BF by presenting the glossy circular from each of the other stores... Target and Radio Shack... Saved $10 each on Vtech Vsmile games that Target had on sale but WM didn't and $30 on an FM tuner/transmitter for hubby's iPod that was a holiday special in the Radio Shack circular... So $50 savings in total thanks to slickdeals post I read... The little old guy that was the cashier did have to call a manager for the $30 savings/price match because of the dollar amount but not a word from either of them that they don't PM...

What you should do is call up the company of the coupon and complain that the store is refusing to honor their coupon.

A company spends millions of dollars to place ads and put out coupons.

The last thing a store wants to do is refuse to take one of these company's coupons.

That's what you'd think! I just got denied using some coupons with the Del Rio return address and had my Walmart Coupon policy in hand. I spend nearly 20 minutes arguing with them and they would not take them. Needless to say I didn't leave a happy camper!

Just FYI I was trying to use the $1 off Baked Lays that was on coolsavings.com a few weeks ago. I see that the Pepsi 1 coupon from coupons.com has the same address so I guess I won't be using that there either.

On a side note, the Throat Coolers B1G1F coupon and $2 St. Ives coupon RIGHT FROM ThroatCoolers.com and St. Ives.com have the same Del Rio address. I highly doubt that the companies have had a fraudulent coupon on their front page for weeks now.

My Wal-Mart has no problems taking them if they scan. If the coupon doesn't scan, they won't take it.

They also have 1 company they won't take coupons from, because they fraudulently post coupons on their site (as in they don't have the permission from these companies to post the coupons). I need to double check the name when I go back in this week.

I've had Walmart clerks claim they don't take coupons, and plenty of others who don't care way or the other. My advice is to go through self-check out, preferably with a teenager overseeing the "self checks" in case you have a problem. Their coupon policy is online here:

http://walmartstores.com/7655.aspx

which states that they DO take internet coupons. Good thing, since I use about $20-25 worth of coupons there every week.

I went to Walmart a few months back right after all those Facebook high value q's were found to be fraudulent and the cashier denied the IP's. She was nice enough about it but said sorry we dont take these. I debated with her over it and explained they are legit, see the barcode? scan it, it will work. She called a manager over and I debated it with him too told him the same story. that he can go on the internet right this very second and print the same coupons from coupons.com or smartsource.com. He explained the story abotu the fraudulent q's but took my word for it and let them all go through because I stated my case well enough. not a beep in sight.
