American Airlines/Continental Promotion Codes

In early October, looking to go from IAD (Washington, DC) to PVR (Puerto Vallarta). Seems American Airlines and Continental are what I have narrowed it down to making the reservations directly through their websites offered the best rates.

Looking to see if there are any valid Promotion Codes that can be applied?

Check out the credit card offers by both AA and CO-discounts and bonus miles thru the credit cards might make up for whatever fees they charge (you can cancel before the 1st year fee is due). Suggestion: check out booking thru their specific website with their credit cards vs. 3rd party sites (like Expedia , etc) - I signed up for the CO credit card, got 40,000 miles, 5% discount, double miles credit for booking thru Continental.com + 500 miles and I haven't even gone anywhere yet (also had a flight thru Northwest and got Continental Miles for it too)....check out flyertalk.com for the real lowdown on flying miles...it's worth the hassle to optimize miles/points (example: recent hotel stay $89 = 2,500 points (worth 1/2 day stay in some hotels)...it's a great game, get in and play.

I doubt you'll find any promo/discount codes for any airline...holidays; price of oil; lots of customers. My advice is shop early, literally, try Sat. between midnight and 5 a.m. and Wednesday between the same time period. This is when the airlines 'load' their fares, and if there's a bargain to be had; you'll probably find it during this time. You don't say where/when you're going, but obviously try all the travel sites listed in the first thread (travel)...if you have to fly CO (continental); usually the best price is on their website. I'd advise looking for coupons on eBay for flights. Just did a search for American Airlines coupon and found several 5% off coupons. Or just type in airline coupon for more coupons for other companies.
