View Full Version : Confused about Thumbs down

Well I'm kinda new and need 1 think explained

Thumbs Down

When should it be used

I see it a lot of times and can't figure out why

I know to use it if the deal isn't good but I have seen it used on good deals with no explanation which confused me

Do you use it if YOU think a post is in the wrong areas - If Yes then why? why not just say that cause if some one else see a TD then maybe they won't read the post cause they think it's a bad deal so they miss out

Do you use it cause YOU don't like the vendor like eCost- same as above I have bought a lot from eCost and never had a problem but I think a lot of people don't like them and use TD for that reason

If it is generally accepted to use it fro any reason you have a negative idea about the deal (maybe you just don't like the poster) shouldn't you give a reason

As a matter of fact - If you use TD shouldn't you be man/woman enough to list why so we all can know what it is you feel is wrong with the deal which would help us make a better decision?

MAn I hate to do another poll since I just started on on the OM Staples codes cause sure as crap I'll get some unsigned TD's for some lame reason but

I think the thumbs up/down simply reflects whether someone thinks it is a good deal or not. It is not a reflection on the poster, and I don't understand why this is taken personally by some people. I think some people may not give feedback simply because they don't wish to give offense. Sometime the deal is just a normalish price for a mediocre item, and there's not much to say. Sometimes it is just not a hotdeal but a nonrelated message (if it is a coupon/freebie, I think it should be moved, not voted down.)

As a matter of fact - If you use TD shouldn't you be man/woman enough to list why so we all can know what it is you feel is wrong with the deal

I simply don't understand why this is such an emotional issue. This is a forum about good shopping deals, I thought we could forgo the typical forum drama.

Also, and examination of your profile shows that you have voted down in threads you have not commented on. If you are going to call people out, please do not do it on behaviors you yourself participate in.

It's not emotional for me. Anyone on here that gives a RA about what some unknown individual somewhere in the world thinks about them on an on line forum is to namby pamby to be on here. What I don't understand is when they are given and it is a good deal. Again I see they are a lot out there that do it but have no courage.
Good feedback if given like an adult should never hurt anyones feeling. But it appears the word adult is th eprime word here

You should use thumbs down for deals that are not that great and/or from vendors that are not reputable. Thumbs down are given to threads are off topic from the forum they are posted under, hence why you have 5 thumbs down in less than 20 minutes.

It only makes my point! What I see are children, playing at being adults Oh but if everyone would only grow up a little my friend what a better board this would be

A few are brave enough to reply and let us into the state of their minds but as you see most are not, just bullies trying to call people names etc. The problem is I am not intimidates by children or adults with small minds and small ???

TD's don't bother me. It's the children that should be adult enough to reply what bothers me

thanks

Thank you.
It is a deal rating system. If you like the deal rate it http://forums.slickdeals.net/images/rating/thumbup.gif, if not http://forums.slickdeals.net/images/rating/thumbdown.gif. If you want to retract your vote, click on http://forums.slickdeals.net/images/rating/norate.gif.
Please use the rating system in a responsible manner since it helps identify the good deals from the bad ones.

Read'um it says if you like the deals not if you think it is posted in the wrong place, not if you don't like the vendor and from what I have seen not many are using it in a responsible mannor so that it identifies a GOOD DEAl not identifies a DEAL in the Wrong Place etc

Well, you'll be getting a bunch of TDs for this because it's not a Hot Deal. Probably belongs in Deal Talk.
