Well butter my butt and call me a biscuit, I got my first FREE issue of Penthouse today! I just filed out the online form to see if it was gonna work and it did! I plan to give the issues away to the local drug treatment facility if the nurses will allow. The guys there have asked for it.

In case anyone is interested, the offer is still good but it was removed by the mods cuz the page it was on linked to pix of nekkid women. You can't post links to pages that have porn content. You can google for the offer and find is as a cached page or the page itself.

I was surprised to see the magazine has cleaned up quite a bit it is now very much like Playboy. Bob Guccione no longer owns or edits the magazine. The Publisher and editor is a woman. they seem to be trying to turn it into a slick, ad-driven men's mag like Maxim only with nudity.

It was one from one of the Club offers. There were several. I didn't fax anything in, just filled out a form online. I'm sure if you just google the right phrases, it will pop up. I do recall the offer expired at the end of december tho. We can't post the offer here.

Now I'm really wanting PC World magazine. I've tried it thru giftconga.com, but got an email that I have to take advantage of at least 1 offer first -which I don't want - then send them email referrals, it didn't say how many. That's a hassle, so I'm gonna keep looking for this mag for free.

Here's a tip: If someone is selling mag subscriptions for on ebay, then that usually means there's some offer online somewhere that just needs to be searched and found. That's how I got all those issues of Life Extension magazine, which they finally stopped sending thank goodness. It was just too much heavy reading and the issues were just piling up!

I think they are! If you look closely at the "invoice", you should see that it's actually a renewal offer or such like. Magazines can be sneaky like that.

I once got a renewal offer in the guise of an "address change" card. After I started receiving a magazine at a new address, I got a notice saying, "Please check here to confirm that this is your new address." But according to the small print, it really meant, "Please check here to renew the magazine for another year."

After reading all the small print, if it turns out that you accidently did sign up for a paid subscription ("(first) four issues free"???), you can write "cancel" on the bill and mail it back. You shouldn't owe anything then.

I finally got my first issues of Ladies Home Journal & Diabetic Living from the Riteaid Living More deal back from December 07.

I was really beginning to theink they'd never come! Of course the fargin rastards "back-served*" me so I had to call 'em up and demand credit for the back issues they sent just to use up my subs faster.

* Back Serving - the publishers practice of sending you an old issue or 2 or 3 in addition to the most current issues as soon as they process your subscription. They do it becuase they can count you as a piad subscriber for those older issues in the ABC audit reports plus it runs out your sub faster which increases the liklihood of paid renewal.

If YOU get back-sevred, you have every right to call up customer service for the mag and say: Hey you people, I done already bought them there old issues so why'd ya send 'em to me? You silly people. Credit my freakin' sub for those back-served issues. Thank you, have a nice day

Of course, be more polite than that. Still, demand credit and they will give it it.

I just started getting LUCKY and the fargin rastards sent me the April, May and June issues all at once - a classic example of Back-Serving as discussed above.

I don't really read it much myself and just subscribed for the occasional free coupon and other freebies that come with it but this was a bit much. I'm gonna call up Customer service and ask them to credit me with 2 issues cuz if the June issue is already out, that means May and April as off the newsstands and therefore old.

Usually I don't have any problem doing this. I just call up and say, hey, I'm a new subscriber and you sent me the new issue plus 2 back issues I already have/read. Please credit my sub for those 2 issues , thanks!
