Magazines can be transferred to someone else by a simple Change of Address, which can often be done on the magazine's website (look for a link to customer or subscription service). I've also heard of people calling the magazine to do this, but I'd rather not -- it's more accurate to copy-and-paste addresses into a web form than hope that a customer service rep heard you correctly.

This is exactly my point. I'm betting a lot of the people that are requesting magazines here are just hoping someone will give them a subscription to a magazine just because they registered.

Personally, I don't expect anyone that hasn't been here 6 months, has contributed, and has a decent amount of reps to actually get anything. And yes, I know I've been here less than 6 months.

TV Guide or similar.

I don't have cable (antenna only -- HD for free is awesome!), so I don't get the TV Guide channel. Since I don't go online and watch television in the same room, it would be nice to have a printed guide of TV programming.

Note: I already signed up for CBS Watch and would be interested if the other broadcast networks offered similar freebie publications.

I don't go to this forum as frequently as I did last year, but now that you say it, I do see that the pickings have become slimmer. I haven't seen an offer worth signing up for in months.

Also, it looks like there might be a higher proportion of digital offers now. (and since digital magazines shouldn't count because they're usually pdf's which are awkward to read on a computer monitor, yeah, them replacing print versions definitely slims the pickings)

The recession has especially trashed the journalism industry, which lost jobs three times faster than the general economy. Ads are the first thing that businesses cut back and ads are the main thing that fund magazines. Also, newstand sales are down because A) Skinny magazines (less ad pages fund less articles) are less attractive to consumers and B) Who can afford a $5 magazine when the job market is crap? For that price, you could eat ramen and generic cereal for a week.

1) Cooking Light

2) Any trashy celebrity magazine, particularly UsWeekly, People, etc.

I don't get this. So you request magazines here and then what? ... It looks like people post up all the new free mag deals on this forum anyway, so how does requesting mags help?

There is no link. People often have magazine subscriptions that they want to give away or trade. They can just change their address to yours, or order the mag in your name and address.

For example- I can get Entrepreneur (12 issues) and would like to trade for Allure, Sunset or a small gift card.
