Is the maximum rep points one is able to give ever going to be over 4 points?
Thanks

i hope not. :omg: i think 4 is way too much as it is.
random.

I hope not too. 4 is sometimes a lot and I'd like to be able to give less to some people, but I wouldn't want to go around giving 5, 6, 7+ for little tiny things. :dontknow:

I agree that I would like to be able to decide how many rep points I give someone... Not just give 4 to everybody. As for the ability to give more than 4 points, I'm OK with the limit being 4, but I would be OK with more also -- as long as I could choose to give less if I wanted to.

I was just wondering if that is the limit. No particular reason. I would like to be able to pick the level of reps to give, but was hoping that the limit might rise above 4.

I was...hoping that the limit might rise above 4.Based on any measurable criteria (such as # of posts, # reps, length of membership, etc.), is any anonymous internet endorsement worth more than four times another?
Mary and Mark might like to give 8 rep pts each for a post, but is their endorsement really worth 8 times as much as another person's?
A relative weighting of 4 to 1 quite adequate (4 pts for most experienced users down to 1 pt for the least experienced users).
Possibly you're thinking from the perspective that the more one participates the more one should be able to hand out rep pts. I think there has to be a limit to rep pt inflation. The ratio of 4:1 is pretty fair.
Furthermore, I think way too much stock is placed in rep points, and inflating their number would serve to overstate their importance as well.

Good grief. Calm down already!
The whole rep system is pretty random.

The whole rep system is pretty random.Yep, so why add to the randomness?
IMNHO, a range of 1-4 points (least to most experienced) is plenty. Too wide a variance would discourage new members from repping, because their rep points would be overshadowed by those whose reps are worth more.

Guess what, Xnarg... the rep point thing is what makes me want to get more rep points! I love repping!
Have a nice night.
