I explained the problem I was having about a page ago. Mouse pointer turns into the hand when I mouse-over the voting thumbs, but when I click on any of the three options no vote is registered.

When you first switched over I had this problem immediately. Then it worked for a bit, and now it doesn't work again.

I do have some extensions, but nothing new since the voting stopped working. And javascript is not disabled.

I just tried FF on another computer and it worked there too. Just not working on this one computer. Weird...

Unfortunately i dont know what to tell ya since i cant replicate it: perhaps try disabling your extensions temporarily or clearing your cache, or checking to see if you have any new programs (internet security apps) that may be causing the issue.

After you do that, try also switching the theme from whichever one you are using to a different one, say Hybrid->Midnight->Hybrid again to flush out maybe a stale setting.

my page numbers at the bottom of the thread are not correct...they either strech past the window edge when I don't have the window the full size of my screen, which is almost always, or else the stack on top of each other, and i can't click on first and previous. I can't find the navigation arrows at all, did they get deleted? hope not

It looks like changes are currently being made live, I swear that the logo was different a minute ago.

I like the placement of the new search box (convenient, and is in an intuitive spot), and I'm still digesting the different features of the search results.

I'm not so sure about the other cosmetic changes...
I see that the Home/Coupons/Forums etc menu bar is now aligned to the left. I assume this was to balance the new search box? It seems to feel a bit... off, but I suppose that it will just take some getting used to.

I'm not sure I see how the changes made to the user-information box on the left of each individual post is an improvement. It makes it stand out more, and makes it easier on the eyes to be drawn to the different bits of information... But is having a whole new "console" there (and diverting attention from the actual post contents) a good thing?

The removal of the frame around the "Page x of x" links in the top (or bottom) right corner of each page of a multi-paged thread has something of an opposite effect -- it makes the information stand out less, which again I'm not so sure is a good thing. When my eyes go to the top right of a page looking for the "Next" link, it takes me an extra moment to find it.

I s'pose it's my own fault for editing my original post instead of making a new one...

OK - Totally off topic, but I don't know if the mods are reading actively reading my TD abuse thread. I don't think any of the recent changes are ground-breaking for SD. We have a new logo, new thumb icons, arguably better search, but nothing dramatically better.

If a lot of energy is being put into site improvements I'd like to see changes that REALLY make this site better. I want to bring attention to two suggestions that came up in the TD thread. I think either one of those suggestions would make this a better site and hope they will be considered in future site upgrades. Here are the links to the two specific posts:

I use Opera at home and IE at work, I'll try it again tomorrow, but I haven't been able to get either to work with the drop-down since the changes.

And just to be clear, I am talking about the drop-downs that would appear when you hovered over the options in the light blue bar at the top of all the options, such as "forums" and "research."

Just to follow up on this, the drop-downs work fine in IE, so it's some sort of incompatibility with Opera. Just an FYI.

Hi, I'm having a font size issue with the results obtained from using the new consolidated search feature with Firefox 2.0.0.11pre. Please see the screenshots for comparison.

I prefer the "old" look. I think it's cleaner, and also the font is sized properly. Most SD fonts size properly for me (my font size is a bit larger than normal at 18), but some never have. Like as I'm writing this I can see that the 'Additional Options' font for the options is too small (it's always been that way; see attached screenshot, and see here (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?p=5522054) for the right size).

Also, for the search beta there is a graphic that says "beta: see what's new [->]", but when I click it nothing happens.

If it's not a browser setting, go down to the bottom of the page. There's a black (or perhaps other for other color schemes) that says your colors cheme, then there's 4 small buttons. Hover over them until you see the one that says decrease font size. That might fix it.

In Firefox 2.0.0.11pre it just continuously cycles, without expanding.
In MSIE 7 I get an error message when I try to expand.

I checked a sniffer and I think the problem has something to do with how I visit slickdeals.net.
When visiting slickdeals I often type just "slickdeals.net"
I did a debug and I notice that when searching the server gives notice and tries to change the location to forums.slickdeals.net

You can reproduce by typing slickdeals.net in IE7. Then at the search box type in: best buy
You should end up with a URL like:
http://slickdeals.net/sdsearch.php?mode=&showposts=0&search=best+buy
When trying to expand a post, it doesn't appear to work.

Thanks for your report. As of this writing the post preview should be fixed. Regarding the search box containing the words "Keywords" --- unfortunately the bug you have discovered is due to the fact that you may be trying to enter your search term before the page is able to complete loading (ie the javascript has not fully loaded).

If you do wait for the page to load completely this will be resolved. We may take a look at modifying the code, or simply emptying this box from now on.

Finally, with the text size we'll work on that :).

That would be great, Bryant, thank you :). The text in the results when using the new search box is teeny tiny and any way to make it bigger would be greatly appreciated. (though, frankly, I prefer the way the results display using the 'old' search drop down, so I still use the old search the most.)
