Boots, shoes, products for my father so he won't slip and fall on ice?

He has a home office above the family garage and the stairs are TREACHEROUS, as is the driveway. Anyone have any specific shoes or addon products that I should look at?
Money isn't the concern here, because slipping has already hurt his hip and partially destroyed a laptop.

I would suggest Yaktrax. They are not expensive and can slip onto any shoe boot. Don't have time to price compare but know they usually run around $20 so the amazon price seems fair
