Have excess medical supplies or health and beauty items from your CVS runs? Donate them to any of these Houston-area organizations and put them to good use!

Medical Benevolence Foundation (http://mbfoundation.org/projectcure.htm), 3100 S. Gessner Ste 210, 832-251-2489, lanegipson@projectcure.org

Accepts donations of medical supplies. Please be sure to indicate that your donation is being made through Medical Benevolence Foundation. Also, please be sure that anything that expires has at least one year remaining or we will not be able to use it.

Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) (http://www.namonline.org/), 15555 Kuykendahl Road

Medical supplies and equipment
These contributions benefit the patients seen in The Children's Clinic at NAM. Medical supplies, generic pharmaceuticals, children's toys and books, and other related items contribute to the overall comfort of the families who use these services. For information, please call 281-885-4630.

Cots, beds, linens, air mattresses, personal toiletries, and hairbrushes
These items benefit the adults and children who have been taken in by the Assistance program, the Family Violence Center, and Interfaith Hospitality Network. These contributions could mean the difference between a long night spent on the floor and a good night's sleep on something comfortable. The personal care items improve feelings of self-worth, feelings that may have been damaged through unexpected changes in lifestyle. Please call any of these programs for information on current needs: Assistance at 281-583-5600, Family Violence Center at 281-885-4673, and Interfaith Hospitality Network at 281-885-4568.

Hi
I thought since there are soo many cvs threads now Houston should add one too.
We are a pretty big city.
Ok so went to buffalo speedway n 610 cvs, oh my god its far
and they will do the stacking we like but you have to be gentle
like 3 - 4 coupons only. I had the supervisor and she was reading them.
Places that do not stack
Holcombe /greenbriar - used to super stack just 3 weeks ago.
Rice blvd/ kirby - used to superstack before xmas
montrose - 1 coupon per trans

I think at the same time a lot of these may depend on who you get. I went to the holcombe/greenbriar one over the Thanksgiving sale and stacking was a no no. Different cashiers may accept different things. I know that happens in my area.

My sister lives in Houston. She has a terrible time with them stacking coupons. They will only take 1. I think that it depends on the person.

I think I saw someone post that the Houston paper had the CVS coupons in it. Did anyone check the online version yet, and if so, are the coupons clear enough to be printed?

Of course Austin got nothing. :(

Am not sure about DFW area, it would be nice to have some of these coupons that are good for Tx. :)

Well to get the e-version of the paper - you have to pay. I did do the "tour" - hoping it was todays edition that you could sample.. but it wasn't.. it was from May (I think May).. Major bummer. :( www.chron.com (http://www.chron.com) is the website - if you'd like to try..

So I know this was none of you, but I need a place to vent so here I go,
I want to thank the person who changed my great Walgreens (yes I had a good one) to a warry of coupons Walgreens. It seems that after you left, they figured out that you gave them over $70 in bad coupons (mostly with false dates). Now it takes the poor cashiers a lot of time as they have to manually inspect every coupon multiple times. I have never had issues at this Walgreens before! Even though they did not want any one person clearing shelves, they did not mind a few extra transactions. It seems my quick easy trips are now gone. In the future, please take your fake coupons to out of Cypress. Actually get them out of Harris County and the surrounding areas!!!

Thanks for listening, I feel better now!

I had a store like that too, and this chick actually got caught passing off fake RR! She was actually making copies of them and they have her on tape, but have didn't arrest her. Now, that store will not adjust coupons down at all, won't take bogo on bogo and questions if you do more than 2 transactions.

GRRRRR

I am north of town, up near the Woodlands and recently a man got caught passing copied RR's and they do know who he is. He was a regular customer at a this one store and they would order in huge quantities for him and he would do many, many transactions - they WERE letting him do that but then corporate told him they couldn't order quantities like that anymore (I am talking it would take him 4-5 HOURS to check out a couple of times a week - all this came from my jedi manager) so the ordering stopped but that store and one other store told him that if he came on Saturday, he could have whatever was left on the shelf (boo for me cuz I am a late night, end of week shopper myself) so that was when they caught him giving copied RR's, they said it was a new cashier that noticed that the RR didn't have orange printing on the back.

So far, it doesn't seem to have any effect on their coupon acceptance, at least they are still cool with me and just scan away.... there are a couple of cashiers that will glance at the expiration date but they don't read every word... but I don't use expired coupons anyway. It is just those that say one per purchase that I worry about them noticing, I don't want to get into the purchase vs. transaction arguement with anyone...

I shop at the 1960 and Champions Randalls.

Is the Cypress Randalls near the woodlands right?

Nope, its near 290 on Barker Cypress :O

You got your answer about which is the Cypress store, but just FYI:
The Woodlands area Randalls are at Grogans Mill shopping center, Panther Creek shopping center and there is also one at 242/1488.

Hi everyone. I moved to Houston a few months ago from Nacogdoches. I did the CVS/WAGS thing for about 18 months until Hurricane Ike came. CVS changed their ad from Sun-Sat to Fri-Thursday. Nac had crappy coupons, so I would get my Q's online, and sometimes would not get them in time for the promotion. So I took a few weeks off, and that turned into a long hiatus. I just ran out of my last Venus razor from doing deals, and am about out of my Intuition razors as well.

I would like to get back into couponing a little. Not sure I can go full force as I have my hands full with 3 kids 6 & under. I am guessing the $/$$$ CVS coupons are a rare breed now, right? I used to post on here a lot - I started the garage sale/stockpiling thread 2 years ago.

Is there a Spanish paper that has the same coupons in it that the Houston Chronicle does? I'm wondering where I can find cheap/free coupon inserts. I swear I read something somewhere a long time ago in some thread discussing people dumpster diving for coupons. :) I didn't live in Houston, so I didn't take total note of it.

I am in the Spring area.

Thanks.

Vicki

There is a Spanish paper, La Voz, but good luck finding it. There are a couple of boxes near me and for a few months straight after I found this out I could get them pretty easily, the box was always full to the top (they are a Sunday paper, but show up in the box on Friday afternoon/evening) but then about 3 months ago, every time i went, the boxes were completely empty. I still am not sure if someone is taking them ALL before I get there or if they just aren't delivering them anymore. At first I thought it was someone taking them all before I got there, so I tired to go by earlier but still nothing, so now that it has been like 3 months since I have seen any, I really think they must not be delivering anymore.

Tried 3 Houston stores and none had the 1 oz acne wash....What a waste of time!!

snip.

I tried 3 stores up here north of town, nada.

What day paper were they in?

I would like to know this too, please. :please:

Yes, after I posted, I went and tried to get the e-version. Of course, you have to pay $40 to sign up, ugh. :(

I was weakly hoping that someone here already had an e-version (maybe for work or something?).

Oh well, in DFW area now, may see if I can find out if they had those coupons up here. Last week, one store here still had the 'double' sets of Sunday newspapers for sale on Friday afternoon. That would NEVER happen in Austin.

I went to my old cvs from where I used to live and they are doing the sunday sales early again. So I got my toothpaste already. Although that store does have a mean a-- manager. the poor cashier was having trouble with my cvs store coupon and he called the mgr.. he was so mean to him just because he didn't know how to manually enter the coupon... anyway, I got a $4/$20 at the end of my receipt. valid only 3 days.

I was talking to my favorite Walgreens store manager today and told him how CVS had coupons in the paper this week for free Pepsi and $5 off $15 in hair or skin care. He said he knew about it. He then said from what he understood from Corporate is that Walgreens was going to do something similar soon, so he said to keep an eye on the Houston Chronicle.
So everyone keep a look out for a similar deal like CVS did in the Chronicle! It may be during the 6/27-7/3 week when they are doing those mid week deals again, but who knows.
I will keep asking him to give me specific details and will report as soon as I find out.
Lets hope they have good coupons, like the spend $20 and get $5 in RR they did during Christmas!!

quick question from those of you familiar with using the formula checks. Can you use them in conjunction with a coupon or do they count as a coupon? I'm going to pick some formula up today using a check and I didn't know if I could use a coupon too.

And, I wanted to let everyone know that my little bundle of joy arrived this past Saturday evening at 8:09pm. He was 7lbs 9oz and 18 inches long. He's home now and ready for some more of that formula!!

At Kroger the jars of Sunsweet Jumbo Red Flame raisins are 2 for $3. I've never seen them that low, since every other time they were 2 for $5. I had a friend tell me that BabiesRUs would take multiple ManQs on single items as long as each coupon was for a different value. I personally have not tried it, but she said she goes in all the time and they let her use as many coupons as she wants on one item.

Right they put out new policy like Jun8th what read as they will accept any RR but then 10 days later or so on Jun18th they changed their policy to read "on specific item"....so think it will be hard to get this to work since it was good for such a short time frame.

Try again - It took some doing but I was able to get the manager to understand that even IF the new policy states "only for specific products" does that mean they dont take manufaturer's coupons and kept pointing that out on the RR. Then she finally told the cashier - if it scans then it's okay. :woot:

Scored some of the clearance Pampers swaddlers sensitive Newborn size today!! :woot:

Found three packs in one store priced at $3.xx. I had one coupon for $3 off, so I got all three packs for $7!!! :woot:

I stocked up on diapers my whole pregnancy, but not the Newborn ones because I wasn't sure if I was going to need that size. Wouldn't you know I had a small baby that may wear newborn diapers FOREVER! :P

I tried at W Bellfort & Wm Trace & the mgr at both acted like they didn't know the policy of accepting RR but took it bc it scanned. Then when I went back the next week to W Bellfort he said he'd only take one bc he got in trouble last time since they didn't get reimbursed. What a crock. If they didn't get reimbursed (probably bc they hadn't even been sent in yet) why even take one? And on top of that they said the total coupons could not be more than 50% of the total. I voided the tranny & left.

skip this if you don't want TMI: my 2 1/2 yo son's teachers told me to take him out of diapers & pullups completely even at night. The first 2 weeks I was going insane. I got the cloth training pants but of course they leaked everywhere. I tried the plastic underwear around them but that was useless bc he wouldn't even tell me he was wet since it didn't run down his legs. Finally in the 3rd week, he'd say, "Mommy, I wet my pants." That meant he needed to go pee. But "Mommy, I poopoo" meant it was too late. Now, a month later, he's completely potty trained even at night :woot:

Yes, it appears W Bellfort store got a new manager that is an idiot and thinks ALL coupons have to be less than 50% value(not just ips) I stopped going there for deals for awhile and have had little to no issues with W trace and NT. I don't use the oynso coupons though anymore since they changed the policy.

Something I found tonight at Kroger while grabbing some mega deals. I found the Cesar Bistro meals (dog food) are part of the mega deal as $1.00 before discount & in front of them is a blinkie for buy 2 get 1 free. The thing is the cashier will take $1.00 off (or in my case $1.09 for the full before sale price) & you'll end up getting them for $0.17 each ($0.14 each if your cashier takes off $1.09 like mine did).

Not free but I like spoiling my pups sometimes :P

CVS at Highland Knolls + Mason refused my IP (bricks) coupons.. said someone passed bogus coupons there... Something about a chip coupon?. I am thinking it's the Dorito coupon, but not sure.. It caught me off guard, there was a line behind me and I was fighting off a headache, so I didn't protest.. I will write CS later on.

I also had a problem at CVS on I-10 and Westgreen.. The "one per purchase" bs again.. there is a supervisor or assistant manager who is insistent that purchase and transaction mean the same thing.

EDIT: Dixie plates are 1.49 after mega so .49 with .50m doubled!! and on the Ultra largers plates there is a peelie for buy 2 plates get 1 napkin free....and the napkins is a mega item so you can do this

4.95 Philly Cream cheese tub/brinks 5
1.49 Dixie Plate
1.49 Dixie Plate
2.99 Dixie Napkins
1.00 Suave Deo
1.00 Suave Deo

I wouldn't bother going if you planned to tomorrow.
I went this morning and got some goodies, just got back from going again and it is looking pretty bare. About 4 foot section left of cheese, no yogurt left, no milk etc.
Misc frozen food left, but not much good stuff. There is still some dog and cat food left but no cat litter, no household cleaners. no toothpaste, veyr little deodorant, very little of the "coupon" brand hair products.
No bread, no produce, no meat, no diapers, no miracle whip(a few mayos left but not the sandwich shop ones)

For those needing soy milk, almond milk etc that is shelf stable, most that 4 foot section has not been touched.
Anything else anyone wants to know if they still have?
No beer left, no charcoal, about 10 bottles of wine, no greeting cards, no KRAFT cheese.

Hi Tx friends! Just stopped by to  say hello.

Also, immy, you can pour Raspberry Chipotle Sauce over the top of a brick. Yum!

We made a shrimp dip and a crab dip yesterday. (Yes, we're on philly overload here) I also make a little crescent pocket thing with chicken and broccoli and a bit of cream cheese baked inside a crescent that my kiddos like.

I saw a lady with a bottle at the register at my Tom Thumb and I keep meaning to go on a hunt for it. I think it might be near the grilling marinades. The bottle is similar. Not like a jelly like yours but a pourable sauce, thinner.

We had this cool local store (called the Twisted Pepper) that sold specialty dip mixes and sauces like this, but of course it closed.

If anyone goes to that Randall today will you lmk if they have shelf stable almond milk still in stock?!
boy, I wish I'd seen this earlier. would be handy for our trip next week. can't make it out there until wed & bet they'll be gone by then. if no one checks by then, I''ll go but not holding my breath.

You can google a recipe "crescent chicken cream cheese" and a ton of recipes will pop up. I normally just mixed 1/2 tub of cream cheese with a few cups of cooked shredded or diced up chicken along with some seasonings and wrapped it all up in the crescent roll. Cooked for 15 min and YUMMY.

My beyond picky toddler even ate them:eek:

Yum, need that crescent pocket recipe!

My recipe is a little different. Very chunky on the chicken. I add the broccoli just cuz my boys love it.

Chicken Pocket

2 c. cooked, chopped chicken breasts
1 c. cooked, chopped broccoli (opt.)
4 oz. cream cheese (I use red. fat)
1 Tbsp chopped chives
2 Tbsp milk
1 tube crescent rolls

Roll out the crescents and separate into 4 rectangles. (pinch diagonal seams) Mix together remaining ingredients. Spoon about 1/3-1/2 c. chicken mixture into the center of rectangle. Fold & pinch to seal tightly. Bake at 350 for 15-20 min until golden.

On Saturday, I found stores that had Motrin PM..

1801 South Voss Road, Houston, TX‎ - (713) 780-7497‎
9795 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX‎ - (713) 783-4430‎

There was also a Kroger off of I-10 on my way home..not sure where the heck it is.. my GPS found the location.. I found Motrin PMs everywhere on Sat.. There is also a Kroger on Briar Forest (I think Briar Forest?) -- which had them..If anyone is interested --maybe just call these stores and ask if they're still in stock.. but they had plenty the other day.

My stores do not have any left and I don't think it is worth it to drive to these stores..

Do you guys know what happens when you get a RC and your coupon is over the price of the product at Kroger? Is it adjusted down? I still have coupons left.

What would that entail? Coupon Club sounds nice? Like swap Q we don't need for ones we need? Or What! BTW nice to see you back!!!
Yes, coupon club is a lot like that, but you also trade stockpiles monitor inventory and we use resources from each other, like a manager might let you use expired on one store and you give those exp to the person with the "connection" and so on... Plus it is a great way to build a network of people that you can depend on for other situations. I belong to a club from Austin and they were a Blessing during Ike. From place to stay to donations for Houston folks ... they were the best (actually they are still awesome!) Eventually the group can also adopt a charity and do one event a year to help around the area. Kinda Healthy minds and Healthy spirits!

And we can always use some chatty time too outside of the PC (for a change!)

I'd be down with that:bounce:. I love the charity idea. I know a lot of us donate already, bugaboo donated around 20+ packs of water to our lab rescue group:hug: which was a huge help for our spring/summer hot as heck events!! (bug, let me know if I need to delete your giving information:lol:)

Figured I needed to look for the bus....and so far no bus sighting!! need to keep checking :D

was at kroger today and found the huge bars of hersheys (reg, almond, symphony) for a $1 and they had .25 peelies on them! .25 for a huge bar , my dh loves these. I have to go back and get more... keep a look out for these square yellow peelies.

Thanks!! Gotta spread the love, but I really hope to find these!!

I love making a brownie recipe with Symphony bars. You make one box of brownie mix then layer Symphony bars and then make another full box of brownie mix and pour it on top of the Symphony bars and bake!!!!

Mark your calendar for an upcoming promo at your local HEB store. I found this ad in the My Texas Life book that is at all the checkstands at my closest HEB.

This promo goes from 9/1/10 - 10/5/10. Get 70 bonus box tops + $5 off your next shopping order catalinas when you buy any 10 Box Top for Education products. Purchases must be made in one shopping visit between 9/1/10 and 10/5/10. Box top certificate will print at register.

We might want to start checking prices and coupons for this even. Might be potential for free/cheap yogurt as I see they picture single cups of Yoplait.

Expired ECB's....
I'm in Katy/Cinco Ranch and had some ECB's expire Sunday. The store on Westheimer Pkwy/Grand Mission used to take them but wouldnt last night. Anyone know of a store out this way that still takes expired?

Also, I bought 4 and left like 6 Cinnamint Listerine (Clearance price $1.24 still giving 2 ecb) on the shelf last night at that store. Will check tonight to see if they are left and get a couple more.

Finally... if anyone does not need their Boxtops... I have two school age daughters at OKE who would LOVE them. I get two copies of inserts a week to trade or RAOK.

Westheimer Pkwy/Fry Road takes them.. as well as I-10 at Westgreen. Last time I checked the location at Grand Pkwy and Kingsland took them too.

I don't believe Mason Road/Highland Knolls accepts them any more.

Good luck!

Lol... I must not have been awake, Westpark and Grand Mission is where I tried last night and it was a no go. She said they have clamped down on coupons and cant take anything that beeps/cant enter anything manually now. they used to be really flexible. And your right, the one on grand parkway/westheimer by Target is TERRIBLE. Store manager scrutinizes everything. I only go there at night and only when the deals are good. I will try Westheimer/Fry. Wow! We get a small free local newspaper The Bellaire Examiner delivered to our house each week. Inside is a flyer for Central Market with the following coupons!!!

FREE freshly baked bread (max. value 5.99!) valid thru 9/19/10 :woot:

$10 off seafood "with your purchase of $40 or more" (valid 9/15-9/28)

FREE fresh green salad (1 lb. max) and a small hot soup (max. value $11.78!) valid 9/22 - 10/5 :woot:

$10 off choice steaks "with your purchase of $40 or more" (valid 9/29 - 10/12)

There doesn't seem to be any purchase requirements for the free items! It's not clear for the $10 off coupons if you have to buy $40 worth of seafood or just any purchase from the store of $40 (I'm guessing the former though).

I've never had the opportunity to set foot inside a Central Market - I guess I will now though! :D

Be on the lookout for this flyer, the Bellaire Examiner is one of a chain of local neighborhood papers, there is also a West University Examiner as well. You can also find copies of this paper inside local restaurants and stores though I'm not sure if they would include the ads inside.

"No more limit to doubling and tripling like coupons in a transaction
This is absolutely confirmed, I just bought 64 Yakisoba noodles in 1 transaction and all coupons doubled.

While I was checking out 1 of the customer service agents came over to me and told me that as of Sunday, Kroger no longer limits how many like coupons they will double or triple in a transaction. She even showed me to print out from corporate so I gave it a try. I bought the noodles and 7 Dial handsoaps all in 1 transaction and paid nothing.

That would be awesome, wizard!!! I wish I would have read about it earlier... I hadn't been able to make it to Kroger lately and had 40 Dial coupons left, so I hit multiple stores tonight.. :faint: would have been nice to be able to use more than 3 per tranny.

BTW, if anyone on the west side of town is searching for the Novartis Cares coupon booklet - I found a store with TONS.. ..

Coupons expire 6/30/2011:
--$2 off any Excedrin (:heart2:  20ct or higher  :heart2: )
--$1.50 off Excedrin Menstrual (20ct or higher)
--$6 off Prevacid 24 hr (no size restriction :yummy: )
--$2 off Benefiber, Maalox, Gas-X, or ex-lax product

** The Excedrin coupons work will nicely with the EXCEDRIN EB deal at CVS next week **

ALSO..the same store had a few (like 2-4'ish) of the Healthy Living Coupon Book--which has these coupons:

$0.35/1 off SoftSoap Liquid Handsoap (no restrictions) <-- :bounce::drool::bounce:
$1 off Colgate 360 toothbrush
$1 off Colgate Total
$2 off Advil PM (32 ct or larger)
$2.50 off Nature's Bounty <<< (might be good to use at CVS when they're BOGO--to bulk up an order, so can use a $/$$ CVS Q)

expiry date 12/30/2010

PLUS tons more but I am too lazy to post them all.

PM me :secret: , if you want the location..

Just to chime in on the doubling/tripling limit...went last night to use 24 of the .50 minute maid cpns on the 10/10 cups. They rung up 1.49 instead of 1.00 and the cashier price modified 18 in one tranny for the correct price. She scanned my card before using the cpns and all 18 doubled to 1.00 making them all free. I'm not sure if this was because of the price modification but I was super shocked. Hth's but next time I go in to this store I'm going to try 4 instead of the normal 3 and report back!

Great news about Kroger!! Thanks for sharing!! Anyone try this in the SW part of town?

:shake:
I can't even get the SW stores to let me use more than 3 likes regardless of doubling/tripling.
Good luck if you choose to test for us:wave:

target i went to was 75% yesterday.

anyway, major fail at randalls today. I got 4 sb and 2 glade, no eq's came off and no cats! arghh!
went to cs and they couldn't do anything about the cat because I "used coupons", bunch of bs. I just returned everything. this was the plantation store. is this still working today?

Randalls in Austin worked with 6 SBs today and last night, at two different stores.

ok....just plain crazy...looks like someone at AFC called Kroger and they confirmed the multiple doubling/trippling is just a glitch?!? that it will be fixed soon....:O
