As some of you have noticed, I think it would be nice if we had a consolidated HD dvd thread for all of these closeout deals on the format. Every other thread in slick deals is about HD. I also think we should have the wiki for that thread clearly link to all of the articles about the death of HD since every other post links some new article. We all know HD is dead, but many of us have HD players who would be interested in HD deals, especially for clearance movies. Just my 2 cents......

Even better, keep all of the Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD ranting out of that hot deal thread. Keep that heated discussion in one thread in another forum.

Definitely agreed...I wish anyone that says the HD DVD is dead in a hot deals thread be instantly banned.

we won't consolidate deals, as it doesn't make sense to have discussion of deals b&m from say major retailers, and an online deal from deepdiscount.

but they are "deals" for those who have hd-dvd players, and are interested in it. we will however warn people for starting a blu ray discussion in hd-dvd threads. by now if you're entering the market you know that its being discontinued, and don't need to derail the discussion. please mod alert these posts.

Excellent then. I just get tired of all of the discussion about HD being a dead format, like we haven't heard the news already. Thanks!

Please take a pass through all of the HD DVD threads in hot deals as of right now. There are dozens of posts that derail the discussion.

Instead of leaving it up to our judgement on which ones do/do not derail discussion, and having us waste our time mod alerting posts needlessly, how about each of the mods picks a half dozen of their favorite HD DVD threads from the last 2 weeks and you go through all of them? :)

When you're done, add a post or update the wiki to clarify that any further off topic discussion will result in a warning.

Also, you should designate a thread where they should be having these discussions. Somewhere in the bowels of deal talk I guess.

Edit: I picked a thread and gave you an idea of what you'd be in for if you really want us to mod alert all of the posts that derail deal discussions. I'm sure I'll be banned for excessive mod alerting, so I'll respond to this thread when I'm unbanned next week :)

Edit2: "Please just alert the start of it" was the guidance I was given (not every post).
