View Full Version : IE crashes often after hitting “Submit New Thread” in Slick Deal on Windows XP/W2k

Mr Slickdeal,

May be there is a hidden bug in SlickDeal's code.

As soon as I hit Submit New Thread, IE crashes and takes away all slick deal windows.

However, 90% of time I found that the matter gets saved.

This only happens for Slick deals site not repeatable in any other sites.

I would not say there is a bug in IE 6.0 as this issue is not repeatable in other sites.

Hope you will look into the issue.

I have had this same issue with the SD's site only. I wondered if it were just me. Im glad to know, its not but hope for an answer, other than go to firefox.

It happens to me here & there, maybe 4 times in an 6 hour time on SD. But I've experianced it (windows) crashing everytime I posted on another site I use to post at. That's annoying!

What browser and what url are you using to post? forums.slickdeals.net or slickdeals.net/forums?

I thought I was the only one having the problem! It has happened to me many times. I don't know if this is the same problem as mentioned here. For me, it seems that it happens when I use "Go Advanced", used smilies or quote, and preview. After previewing, and when I hit submit, IE would crash. Like Kapildev said, most of the time the submission would go through.

I have had the same problems as OP. I haven't seen this error enough to post about it. I just thought it was IE/XP.

yea it does the same thing to me in AOL and IE. 97% of the time it will submit but the other 3% when I hit the submit button the browser crashes.

Most browser crashes are due to spyware on the client.

I can't reproduce the error on IE.

Did this start recently? The only change was the repost url checker so if it started after the code change then it might be that.

I am facing this issue since last 3 months. I mean the time i started using lkdash account till today. If I submit the page an error message will populate and will ask me to send the issue to Mircrosoft.

Then all my IE will crash aslong with Slickdeal.

I would try sending you a screen shot once i get this issue.

Well.. since posting here before.. this problem has increased by 100 %.

Every time I post.. it 'crashes'. When I click the browser shut, it does it. And its only with the SD site. It used to be occasional but now its all the time.

I dont have any spyware ( tested ) and Im using Win XP with IE6.

This doesnt happen anywhere else.. why here?

Any suggestions on how I can fix this problem?

Thanks ;)

A quick test case for SD & Mods...

Click Submit button twice or more than once at a stroke... I mean that Sometime it happens that when a user clicks submit button the SD take sometime to submit it . This is because of various reasons such as N/W slow, SD validation workflow etc.. which make the submission process little slow.. As an end user i will think that I have not clicked corretly on submit button and will hit again, the SD window will take away all other windows along with it's own.

yeap its starting to do the samething to me hit submit on making any new thread in the tech support, slickdeals any where. My browser crashes and goes right to the desktop. Formated my system to see if that would fix the problem but nope still does it, like you said it only crashes on here, go to diffrent websites and this is the only site that will make my browser crash.

Well, I thought the problem was resolved until this afternoon.

As soon as I submitted my first post, it crashed.. and continued to crash until I began using the AOL browser ( which I hate doing).

Then, it stopped crashing.

I wish some techy would let me know whats going on. I tried going to Microsoft to update but there isnt anything there for me to update!!

Argh!

Have you tried updating your version of Internet Explorer to the newest and seeing if the error persists?

Try removing AOL I know they sometimes fight over resources.

The icons in the product reviews were added but that shouldn't have any affect on it. I'll keep looking but not really sure whats causing it.

I dont know what caused it to stop several months ago, but it picked up where it left off.

Thanks for checking into to this, Mr SD.

BTW... I like the new icons.
