Original list by Miranda:

What products are CVS brand?
CVS brand, Essence of Beauty, Gold Emblem, RTH (Round the House), Nuprin, Fun in the Sun (summer), Blade, Skin Effects, Elin Lavar, PreVentin-AT, and Merry Brite (holiday merchandise). Playskool baby care products, Lumene, Christophe, and Boots are sold exclusively at CVS so those can be considered CVS brands depending on the store/cashier (which is only relevant when using a CVS brand coupon). More information can be found in this post by KimD. (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showpost.php?p=7367356&postcount=80)

I have written to CVS customer care asking what's CVS brand. And I got a reply that Playskool, Lumene etc is NOT a CVS brand.

Dear Valued Customer,

The CVS brand items are marked with a CVS logo on the package. The items that you listed are not CVS brand items.

Thank you for shopping and saving at CVS.

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us either by e-mail or by calling (800) 746-7287. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I hope you have a nice day.

Sincerely,

Blonde is right.

Please read this link about Lumene (http://privatelabelmag.com/pdf/jan_2006/Ryan-Preaches-PL-to-CVS-Team.cfm)
Please check out this link (http://privatelabelmag.com/pdf/pl_may07/2007DrugChainReport.cfm) to read about Essence of Beauty

BTW, you could have called a different day and talked to a different CS and got a different answer.

I think this is all very much YMMV. I tried to use my $3/any CVS/pharmacy brand product coupon on Playskool. No go.
I was told by the shift supervisor that the item MUST say CVS on it. Since I wasn't positive I was right, I backed down & went on to work.
Anyway, I called the 800# today to find out and was told by the rep that it must say "CVS pharmacy" on it i.e. cough syrup, aspirin, etc. I asked her about the Absolutely Divine cookies (have a tin right her & I can see that it says CVS) and she said No, my c/o is not good on them. But, she also said to go ahead and give it a try in the store and maybe they would let me use it.
Sighhhhhhhh....................

The cashier at my regular store said as long as the bar code starts with 50428 it is considered a CVS brand item, the playskool wipes and the cvs kleenex I have sitting here both start with 50428. (Learned this because she checked the wipes when I was using the 2/10)

add Fun in the Sun to the list---flip flops, beach towels, etc out right now
says on the tag: all fun in the sun products are satisfaction guaranteed or your money back from cvs parmacy
distributed by cvs pharmacy
made in china
2008 cvs pharmacy

got these a couple of weeks ago 7.99, thru in some cvs pistachios on sale for 3.99, used a 3/10 crt no problem.
these are "ladies beaded wedge" looks like a brown flip flop with beads on the straps. I'm gonna return them, they hurt between the toes. Had a pretty big variety in that store.

Thanks, I really was looking for a list like this...I PMed someone about it, maybe it was you? If not, THANK YOU very much!!

I just wish I had something from cooperate b/c the first time I tried to use a $3/$10 on an item (which is on the list!) the manager told me NO!!! That this crt ONLY applied to items that were CVS BRAND like all their generic stuff.

Also, thanks to JenCarlie for the # info! :)

...oh goody! the Gold Emblem is on the list, I was going to buy the H2O next week!

There's already a FAQ thread that has CVS brands and such. Miranda worked very hard on this thread and it's a shame it's not stickied on the DS forum.

http://forums.slickdeals.net/showpost.php?p=9053504&postcount=1

Wouldn't it be better to have it in there rather than creating another thread?

The Raddish

I don't see the harm in having a distinct thread for this topic and adding it to the reference index. Yes, it is in Miranda's old FAQ thread, and buried again in an even older FAQ thread, but both places are not very easy to find on a whim or with a quick search.

I think making this it's own thread and adding it to the DS index thread makes it easier to be found by anyone looking for it.

This is not to take credit away from Miranda or KimD, they did an awesome job, but in keeping with the new index I certainly see the merit of splitting it out on it's own. I think linking to the original list (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showpost.php?p=7367356&postcount=80) by KimD in teh OP would also be a good idea.

I'd also like to see the wiki used in this thread to keep the list as up to date as possible.

If it's not a CVS brand then why do the give the 30% discount to employees instead of 20%?? But then again I agree with MFH about calling and getting different answers from different reps all the time! :)

MFH, you should probably put YMMV on the title -- or at least put a disclaimer in the WIKI that this is NOT an official list and stores vary on what they consider a CVS brand.

Mmmmmhhhh, I don't think so, this is very much YMMV indeed. This is another response.

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting the CVS/pharmacy website. We are in receipt of your e-mail regarding a $2 off $10 CVS/pharmacy brand coupon.

This coupon is meant for products labeled CVS/pharmacy only. It does not include Playskool, Essence of Beauty, Life Fitness, Round the House or Skin Effects. If you have used this previously at a store on these brands it is because the Store Manager has made an exception for this coupon to be used on these brands.

We appreciate the time you have taken to share your comments with us. Thank you for shopping with CVS/pharmacy, we look forward to your continued patronage.

Sincerely,

Nikki Pelletier

She was correct, you will get a different response depending on who you talk to. I was not allowed to use my 3/10 CVS CRT on Playskool and Life Fitness at a store (cashier said has to say CVS on it) and called CS afterward, who told me I was correct and it included a long list of CVS exclusive products, and then got the cashier and store # to call and correct their store on the issue. She also issued me a $3 ECB to make up for the $3 CRT I wasn't allowed to use.

I see Boots products being offered at Target. Also, there are MQ coupons for boots at Target that have target terminology in them i.e. "One coupon per guest".
