View Full Version : Rank the Deal feature

It would be very helpful if slickdealers could vote/rank the quality of the deal (i.e. 1 = useless, 10 = best deal in years)
thought, issues?

I vote 1.

Having a bad day snipe? or are you the mod that has a job of discouraging everyone from coming up with things they think would make the site better?

hm, can I choose both?

Hm... No not really.... If you don't know how to code that you can just ask some of us other computer savvy slickdealers out here, I am sure half of us would be glad to help you out.

Juggernaut was just making a suggestion. A good one at that.

My suggestion

Is that

The Mods

Should not

Dissuade

Others from making suggesions about the site. Especially since you are soliciting just that from your members. ;)

I was posting my opinion of the suggestion, simply this and nothing more.

I see that "feature" to be of little effect. Obviously some deals appeal to some and not others. Secondly I don't think it'll make the person who posted the ~not so great deal~ feel so great if everyone immediately went in and voted it as a crappy deal. Might dissuade them from posting further deals in the future for fear of rejection.

That is just my opinion though, if you really want your posts to be rated, post it as a poll and give the users the option of rating it. I myself don't feel it is very necessary.

also

lets try

and keep

all of our sentences on one line. Make its easier to read.

Thanks

i kind of like the idea, often a so so deal will get started and get larger for one reason or another, helps people avoid useless threads withouit good deals.
A good example is sparknotes.com they use the colored thumbs up/ down system. I think can be seen here http://mb.sparknotes.com/mb.epl?b=389

I think this would help the mods get great deals posted on the main site faster and easier, and also make an easy way to distinguish the 'top deals'

here is my 3 cents.
to me, slickdeals is hands down the best deal site on the net... mainly because of the loyalty and knowledge of the users, not because of the interface, every deal site is almost identical.
to make slickdeals even better, moderators should look to users for suggestions to continue to keep it the best deal site available, through advancements and updates.
voting is one way to do this, but i guess it depends on what the owners of the site want to do...if you want to keep it small, then voting is not an issue, but if it gets any larger, there is going to have to be one, so that all the crap can be sorted through.
also, i hear what your saying about the "fear of rejection" snipe, but that may also encourage people to do some research or actually think about something before they post it, leading to quality only posts.

I agree!!! A post wouldn't have to be "rejected" as such, it could still stand with a low score. But let me sort by score and have it at the bottom where it belongs.

Also - some posts may not get votes but be good deals. Let them stand and I can read them if I chose.

I would very much like to sort the forums by first post date rather than last post date -- that way I can see what is new and still valid. Case in point - "dell x3i for $79 and free shipping " For the Love of God please let this thread die!!!!

Despite what snipe says, I like the idea. It's already on the todo list along with the sorting by date. I'm just kind of waiting for vbb 3.0 to be released before I customize the software too much.

Hope it won't look like the one that TRIT suggested (no offense dude).. It was just hard to read and understand.. WAY too many colors and confusion..
