Can you admins do it? Or will it cause too much trafic for you?

Can anyone confirm the RSS feed is working for them? Doesn't seem to be for me so I don't know if it's a problem on my end or somethine on here (I have other RSS feeds working ok).

Thanks!

EDIT: Nevermind - configuration issue on my end.

Any chance of getting RSS feeds for any of the other forums (in particular, the Hot Deals forum, but others would be nice too)? Just curious.

Unless they can spare the bandwidth, I would not recommend this, it causes heavy server load on a more or less busy forums like this one.

I can believe that. I'm new to using RSS, so forgive me if this isn't a reasonable question: would it be possible to have other forum data in the "main" RSS feed, or would that not alleviate bandwidth issues? (realizing, of course, that then it might become a question of exactly which forums make it into the RSS feed which may be more hassle than it's worth).

See, the general thing about RSS feed, it bypasses all the ads that load, etc etc. Since the site gets serious traffic (i bet it does), and it will only increase, enabling RSS feeds for forums might be a little too much, evn though default updates are about 30 minutes apart, it still might cause too much.

Especially if you are subscribed to popular forums, etc. It's all up to Mr. SlickDeals though. he's the man.

Even though XML (RSS uses it) overhead is not all that huge, large numbers of small overheads will make the point.

RSS is a nice invention though.

You need to have Trillian Pro and the news plugin

I would think this would cause less traffic. RSS feeds transmit less data than html and image files. The more people who read the deals from rss feeds have less reason to view the site, resulting in less traffic.

I check this site a few times a day, so the hot deals forum is much more important to me than the slickdeals forum. I would really like to see the hot deals put into rss, but its already been requested a few times...

I thought that there used to be only e-mail alerts
