Do you know of any coupon matches that will be a slick deal?

WOW! :omg: Normally they don't even double, so that is a surprise. At one time, their prices were the best, but now they're not that great. I hardly ever go there, since Giant and Safeway often have pretty good promos going. But I'll have to see if I can't find some 50-cent Q's to triple! All I can think of off the top of my head:

50 cents off Kleenex from Safeway book (thanks, Laury!)
50 cents off Huggies baby wipes from 6/22 SS

My Shoppers always doubles. Limit 4 per identical coupon. Anybody know if you use a 50 cent coupon on a $1.49 item , do you pay .49 since the triple doesn't work. TIA

Where are you located? (besides the White House, I mean )

Don't know how Shopper's registers are programmed, but at Giant, Q's will double up to the amount of the item. So if you have a .40 Q for a .69 item, you'll get .40 off plus an additional .29 (instead of an additional .40). My guess is that Shopper's will either triple up to the value of the item or triple and you'll get overage. (I think HT gives overage.) I doubt you'd end up paying the .49 for a 1.49 item. Never heard of any store's registers doing that.

I was wondering the same thing. I have .50 Powerade coupons. I think Powerades are .80 each. So they will either be free or I will get .70 cents overage on each. To bad you can only use 4 at a time! I will try this and report back tomorrow.

UPDATE I went to SHOPPERS this morning and the TRIPLE coupons DO give you overage!!! I got 4 Powerades and used 4x .50 coupons. They are $10/10. Each took off $1.50! HTH someone! So Derek22 if you use .50 coupon on the 1.49 item will get 1 cent overage.

Bumping to see if anyone has found other deals. I'm excited about this since my Shopper's doesn't even double.

At my Shoppers (SoMD), I did not get overage. The cash register would automatically triple up to the price of the item, so you just got it for free.

still a good deal! Think it runs through Sunday...

I went yesterday morning (early). I found a tearpad of .50 Sobe Q's right under the Sobe drinks in the drink aisle. The reg. price of Sobe is $1.00, and I used 4 Q's. Well, the Q's didn't even double! I asked the cashier and she had to call a manager, and the manager keyed in some stuff, and I ended getting $3.00 off total. The cashier told me they are only supposed to triple up to the value of the item, no overage. But the manager obviously entered something wrong because I did get $1.00 overage. Not the $2.00 overage I was expecting, but I was still happy.

So I would make sure you have a few items to eat up the overage, just in case you get it. They have grapes for .99/lb this week, so that's what I grabbed.

Oh, and the Q's did not start with a '9' digit and didn't say "do not double" so I think maybe the store just didn't have their registers programmed yet. I'm excited about going back, maybe to the store with SCO this time.:bounce:

Also, my shoppers had an additional sales paper that had a coupon for $ 5.00 off 10 selected Kraft products. And those selected items are the very same items that are the Free Kraft coupons from All You Magazine. Total BC 92.xx AC 21.xx should have only been $ 8.00 but I forgot to use the Free Kraft Cheese Coupons

I recommend using self checkout , I had a snotty lady who said one of my coupons said Limit one per a purchase, and I wasn't allowed to use more than one , and one said "do not double" she went ahead a let me do it , but acted like she was doing me a favor.( I should have said it says do not double, it doesn't say anything about triple !!! LOL)

There was no overage in my MD store, but still some great deals.

I had a terrible time at my Shoppers. I went in with 60+ coupons at .50 or under (after wading through ALL the coupons I have). They didn't have over half the brands! Then, the prices were so high on some of the items that it didn't matter. For example, the cleaning products were $3.79-4.59, typically grocery store prices (I would have expected them to be lower at Shoppers) so even 1.50 off doesn't help much.

I ended up with a bunch of free French's Mustard and some PastaRoni, which I could have gotten with doubled coupons free anywhere else. NO overage, though I tried. Big waste of time!

I did the same thing as Gina, keeping in mind the normal grocery prices for my area. For the most part they either didn't have the item, or the price was way more than I expected.

I used self-checkout, but the cashier had to swipe in to send the coupons through. Plenty of overage here- the cashier was very pleased with the deal I got!

Harris Teeter has much better deals for their triple coupon days, so unless Shoppers puts out a better sale ad to go along with the tripling, I'll stick with HT!

I purchased the following items using .50 coupons, unless otherwise noted:

Hungry Jack potatoes pouch 1.00 (.35?) FREE
Diet Pepsi Max .99 (cooler near register) (.40 tearpad) FREE
Diet Mountain Dew 1.39 (.40 tearpad)
Betty Crocker Warm Delights Bowls 1.88
Mr. Clean 28 oz. 2.19
Carefree Pantyliner 1.29 (printable) FREE
McCormick Grillmate seasoning 2.17
French's Potato Sticks .75 FREE
French's Spicy Brown Mustard 1.34 FREE
Lysol Bathroom Cleaner 2.59
Lysol Toilet Bowl Cleaner 2.35
Softscrub 2.25
French's Worchestire Sauce - 1.39 (.35)
Lipton Tea 16 oz 1.25 (tearpad) FREE
Dawn Dish detergent 1.50 FREE
Mr. Clean Eraser 2.59
Powerade .32 oz (.30)

The manager needed to send my Mountain Dew & McCormick coupons through. I live near a couple shopper's so it was a good deal for me. It was my first heavy couponing experience at Shopper's & that was nice.

Items that were not worth it for me even with .50 coupons were Cheerios Mix, Chex Mix, Pepperidge Farm cookies, Green Giant frozen bagged veggies or any frozen foods for that matter.

Received the Shoppers circular and says that all coupons up to 50 cents will be tripled and all up to $1.00 will be doubled from Aug 21 - 24th. Go to shoppers.com and see circular. Not sure about other regions, but this is for Northern Virginia (try 22150 as zip and see circular). They even put down all the scenario. 50 cent coupon = $1.50 off....then 55 cents will be $1.10 etc, $1 will be $2 off etc...

Wow, that's a slick deal around here.....doubling up to $1.00! Right off the top of my head, I know I have about 50 Q's for $1 off a single Atkins bar, and they expire at the end of the month. They are usually around $2, so if Shopper's even carries them, may be able to get some cheap to free bars. Have to do about 12 transactions, though. I HATE the 4 Q limit! :shake:

Any other good $1 Q's out there?

I got my 4 free Sobe Lean and 4 free Lipton Pure Leaf iced tea drinks with tearpad Q's, but totally forgot to check the Atkins bars! Their registers seemed programmed perfectly to double or triple up to the amount of the item, but not give overage. I paid $.08, which must have been tax.

Also, there are $1 Q's from an insert (can't remember which one now) for Cool Whip in a can. Same insert also has $1 off Jello pudding 6 packs (refrigerated). The Cool Whip was $2.69 at my store, and the Jello was $3.29. Too expensive still for my cheap tastes (condsidering I got them for almost free during the Giant Kraft promo back in June). :shake:

When I checked out, I overheard the cashiers discussing the FB Q's. They had a clipboard with copies of the Q's and "counterfeit" written across each barcode. One cashier was telling another that if she accepted any of these, she would have to reimburse the store personally. I just mentioned that I had heard of them, but that they seemed too good to be true at the time, so I never printed them (which is true).

I have to go back because the cashier would not take my expireds this morning even though the cashier did last week with the tripling promotion.

I think it works on a contiuum. Older female cashiers are the hardest on couponers. I felt like I was going through a checkpoint because both of the only working cashiers were older women who looked like they would pull out the magnifying glass to scrutinize my coupons. Young men seem to scan and keep moving.

Looking forward to hearing your best deals so that I can continue to go through my coupons.

Hey everybody,

Just got the new Shoppers ad (for MD, DC, and VA), and it looks like they have extended their coupon deal through this weekend. Here are the details of the deal:

-Unlimited Triple Coupons up to $0.50 (50 cents)
-Unlimited Double Coupons up to $1.00

We all know that Shoppers tends to mark up the price of their groceries, but this is one of the only times I've ever seen a grocer in this area offering to double Q's up to $1.00. If I get a chance to go, I will post the info from my receipt.

HTH. Best wishes.

I talked to the manager and he said, as long as the computer doubles it (starts with 5) , your fine. I did find one cashier lady last week made a issue about it and called a manager over about my coupons saying do not double.

Unfortunately there was no overage this time, but picked up lots of free tuna with the dollar coupons. I also got up a box of Special K bars with a vocalpoint $1 coupon (50 cents after doubling).

I forget which item it was, but I had a DND coupon with a 5 and it scanned through to double just fine. My cashier was carefully reviewing my coupons as she scanned them, but it didn't seem to bother her that it doubled.

I'm glad they added the dollar coupons to the mix this time!

Yeah, as others have mentioned, I have no problem getting my DND Q's to double. Did another Shoppers trip today... I can't fit any more food in the house... I've spent about $110 OOP and gotten over $400 worth of groceries!

If anybody's looking for a couple quick, cheap, easy dinner ideas, check out:
-Sargento Salad Finishers (they were under $3 at my store, so with the doubled $1 off Q, this makes them less than $1, and they include the chicken, cheese, croutons, etc.). We picked up the Wish Bone Bountifuls dressing (the mixed berry one) and it went great with the Sargento "Bistro" salad. Total OOP for this simple and great meal was $2 (not counting the lettuce that we had at home)
-We picked up at least two of each of the Macaroni Grill dinner kits. We both think these are excellent -- at my store, they're $4 each, and with the doubled $1 Q, you can't beat $2 for these kits (all you have to add is your own chicken).

Just got back from my second trip, and unlike my first, I encountered major problems. 19 of my $1.00 coupons did not double -- the coupons did not say DND, and were all for the correct items. Also, I didn't use more then four identical ones. It's so strange, because 6 $1.00 coupons did double, and everything under $1.00 doubled/tripled as expected. The cashier had no explanation, and there was no one at customer service to help. I'm not sure if it was because I used a $10 off $50 coupon I got in the mail, but I'm not sure why that would matter. I wrote to customer service online, and hope they correct the problem.

In any event, one deal I didn't see mentioned is this:
Heinz Vinegar, small size is $1.09 and there's a $1.00/2 coupon

I asked my store and the cashier said they don't take IP's, so I didn't use any. Although when I used SCO, it asked me to "set coupons aside" after I scanned them. I figured the cashier would come by and "verify" them or something. But she just said "put them in the slot." This was at two different stores. So YMMV on using them. Even if their policy is not to accept them, they WILL get reimbursed as long as the Q is legit.

I asked at my store and she said that they accepted IP's up to $ 1.00. So YMMV. I hope they do this double $ 1.00 again, I got such a high walking out of the store with a loaded cart for less then $ 25.00. I normally don't shop at shoppers, but I will for the triple coupons.

Anyone know if they're going to start doubling and tripling coupons regularly? I noticed on a receipt today they have a "Store/Dbl/Triple Coupons" tally at the bottom. That wasn't there on other receipts. I only used a $10 off $50 coupon, so not sure if they're doubling/tripling at my store. Just curious... might persuade me to shop Shoppers more often!

Didn't see this posted, just got my new ad. Doubles/Triples are BACK!!!! From Thursday through Sunday, 10/16 - 10/19. Triples up to $.50 and doubles up to $1.00. Fine Print: Can use 4 like Qs in one transaction. No overages, will get the item for free. Coupons that state "Not subject to doubling" or "Do Not Double" will not be eligible for doubling/tripling. Hmmm, I wonder how they will enforce that. Especially if you use the SCO?

They didn't enforce it the last couple of times, at least for me. I used SCO and after scanning each Q it asked me to "set coupon aside" which I did. After I had paid, the SCO cashier came over and stuffed my whole pile of Q's into the slot, never even looked at them. But maybe she was supposed to. This happened at 2 different stores. Obviously, YMMV.

Progresso soup - 4/$5 - MFQ $1/4

I'm surpised there isn't much interest in doubles/triples at Shoppers. Oh well, more for me to buy.

Seriously, went today and these are the items that were free or pretty cheap to me based on the Qs I had. Sorry, I don't remember which inserts the Qs are from as I cut them out.

Domino Light Brown Sugar, 2lb $1.98 - $.50Q = $.48
Starkist Tuna Creations $2.19 - $1.00Q = $.19
Breyers Ice Cream $3.89 - $1.00Q (blinkie found at Safeway) = $1.89
StonyField Oikos Greek Yogurt $2.00 - $1.00Q (From Mambo Sprouts Q book) = free
Yo Plus Yogurt $2.00 - $1.00Q = free
Dannon Activa - $2.79 - $1.00Q = $.79
Ore Ide Steam and Mash $3.50 - $1.00Q = $1.50
Heinz 57 $4.19 - $1.00Q = $2.19 plus MIR on bottle, so hopefully free
Cascade Organic frozen green beans = $2.68 - $1.00Q = $.68
Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta = $1.66 - $1.00Q = free, but for some reason the Q would not
scan, so they manually entered $1.00 and doubled. So, got $.34 overage for each box.

Also, the DND5 coupons doubled. HTH someone out there...

I went today and my order was initially $130 but after coupons was $40. I was very excited. The Tuna was a great deal and I got overage on Zone bars (10/$10) with a $1 coupon which doubled to $2. The Sobe juices were a good deal with .50 coupon, triped to $1.50 and the juices were $1.25, so overage. Trident gum was $1 and I used a .55 coupon, so .10 overage. Trying to thing of other good deals - Potato toppers were $2.00 and with $1.00 coupon (doubled) were free. I was very excited!! Totally awesome deals and I never knew Shoppers did this before. I am scouring my coupons for more good deals.

People, watch out when they are manually scanning your coupons. Make sure you watch that screen like a hawk and that each coupon & its double is showing up!

With the warning, I present to you my findings. I've already factored in the doubles:

Ocello Sponge $1.29 + $1.29 - $2.00 MQ on 2= $0.58
Atkins Advantage $1.00 -$2.00= -$1.00 MM !
Zone Perfect Bar $1.00 - $2.00 MQ = -$1.00 MM!
Poptarts $2.00 for 8 ct + $2.00 - $2.00 MQ/2 = $1.00 each (not very slick but not very bad either.)
Lipton Tea $1.09 + $1.09 - $2.00 MQ/2= $0.18
Danactiv $2.39 - $2.00 MQ = $0.39
Simply Thai noodle bowl $1.59 - $1.50 MQ = $0.09
Glade Carpet powder $2.19 - $2.00 MQ= $0.19
Kotex $3.00 - $2.00 MQ = $1.00
Celestial seasonings tea (20 ct) $2.58- $2.00 MQ= $0.58

Like I said, watch the screen and make sure a subtraction occurs for each Q you see being scanned, ESPECIALLY if the checker is doing it manually!

A few things I got which may not have already been mentioned (also factoring in the doubles):

Dove chocolate bars $2 - $2 MQ = FREE
Progresso Chicken/beef broth 32(?) oz. carton $2.50 - $2 MQ = .50
Northern bath tissue 6 double rolls $4.49 - $2 MQ = $2.49
Starkist Gourmet Seas $1.66 - $2 MQ (adjusted down manually to $1.66 by SCO head cashier) = FREE
Birdseye Steamfresh veggies 3/$4.50 - $2/3 = 3/$2.50 (does that make sense?)
Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers on sale for $1.89 - $2 MQ (also adjusted down) = FREE
Buitoni Tortellini $3.50 - $2 MQ = $1.50

I caused a major headache for the cashier that oversees/helps with the self-checkout, because in every case that the doubling of a $1 coupon caused an overage, the computer wouldn't take it and she had to enter it manually (I think that's what the PP was talking about with the Ronzoni Qs---I did get to use those but she had to enter them for the actual value, not $2). She was not a happy camper, and I was irritated that she was irritated. She also accused me of trying to give her 4 coupons that she had already entered, and we went round and round about it before I think she finally realized what had happened (the ones she had already entered were on my mother's order, which had already been completed). My receipt confirmed that she was wrong, but even if I had been the wrong one, is it worth arguing and arguing with a customer over $1.67?

I wish I knew what the store's policy is on coupons that cause overage. I half expected her to just tell me that I couldn't use those coupons, and I would have accepted that and just put those items back. Instead she entered them for me manually, but very begrudgingly. I was just thinking that if she was going to agree to do it, I wish she could have been cheerful about it. Oh well. I tried to give her a Dove chocolate bar, but she declined. Oh well.

I'm curious about those of you who got overages on some items: did you use the self checkout, or a regular cashier lane?

Were you shopping at the same store as me? I used a cashier becuase the SCO were backed up. I noticed that when you use Qs at the SCO it takes longer because the machine has to announce the amount of each savings.

As for the Ronzoni, I think its hit or miss as to whether or not you will get the overage. If the cashier knows the price is less than the doubled Q, then probably not. In may case, the cashier/manager were frazzled from all the people with coupons and could care less.

Oh yeah...sorry folks, I meant to mention in my post that I didn't know which inserts my Qs (such as the Dove chocolate ones) came from because I clip and file them all ASAP after I get them. Sorry 'bout that.

THANKS amorantin for your awesome post!

So are they multiplying upto a $1 or till .99 as other stores do???

Tripling up to and including 50 cents, doubling up to AND INCLUDING $1! woohoo!

There is also an Oikos coupon from an insert - not sure which one, as I just clipped it out last night. Definitely within the last 3 weeks or so.

Used up quite a few of my tearpad Qs to get free drinks, including Sobe Lfewater, Sobe juice, Aquafina FlavorSplash, etc.

Thanks for the heads' up on the Steamers - been waiting for a good deal on these, so will use up all my Qs! Can't beat free! :D

Thanks to everyone who is posting their deals. It definitely helps to narrow the search down a bit, as opposed to wandering absently through the store, searching for the deals. :)

I just got back from shoppers shopping.
My total before Q was $96.xx and after Q was $8.xx. :dance13:

The lipton leaf tea is $1.25 each and $.50 tearpad made it free. (no overage)
Easymac cup is $1 each and free after Q (2/$1, but don't know where it came from)
Powerade is $1 each and if you have any Q, it will be free (I used 2/$1 Q that was attached to the item long time ago-have no idea whether famous $1 Q gives overage or not)
Ronzoni pasta is free after Q (no overage)
Some of EAS bars are 3/$5 and 1/$1 any EAS product Q gives overage (where?)

Bizarre! my glory Q's scanned.

I noticed something though, what I call the "K-mart situation" and that is that one of my $1.00/2 Q's (Ocello sponges) were not doubling correctly. It subtracted $0.29 rather than another dollar for the two sponges I bought per coupon. Watch out for that! I definitely would not be buying sponges for $0.60/each unless it was some sort of emergency :shake: Been couponing way too long for that

Did my Shoppers run this morning--paid $12.46 and "saved" $93.31. Many thanks to all the people who posted helpful info on this thread. This was my first time shopping at this store and it couldn't have been easier. The cashier did, however, refuse to accept any IPs (fortunately I only had two of those). Also, the register automatically calculated down the "overages" on Qs that exceeded the item price. The items were still free, just not money makers.

That's nutiritional bars/drink like zone bar, soyjoy and ensure. (can be found at same aisle)
It was my first time purchasing these items.
So, have no idea for the taste. I only got them b/c these were free after Q.
I don't remeber the insert, but those Qs are coming from same insert with $1 zone bar Qs.

Had a bad run. Atta at Fair City, may Karma wipe the floor with you, baby.

This jerk got pissed because I was double checking that he scanned all my Q's and then he said something about pushing through the Q's for stuff I didn't even buy. WTF... I always buy the stuff on coupons. I'm pretty sure he didn't bother pressing something to double a few of my Q's. I didn't see the upc code for the Q on the receipt. Gah. So annoying to go through all the work searching, cutting & sorting only to have someone be careless with them.

Anyhow, avoid him if you end up at Fair city. He's got an attitude about being questioned. Will be complaining.

I had a great run yesterday! Total before Q's was $53.xx, after Q's (including tax).....$3.09! I got A LOT of overage. I used SCO and any Q that would have produced overage if it doubled or tripled gave an error message when I scanned it. So the SCO cashier told me to set those aside. Then she came over and entered each one manually and automatically doubled or tripled them without even checking the price of the item! :whee: So, for example, my Atkins bars were $1 each, the $1/1 MQ gave error message, she entered it as $2. Even the ones that said "do not double," she doubled or tripled. I think she just wanted me GONE QUICKLY!

The three things I never did find were the Yo-Plus Yogurt, Cascadian Farms veggies, and Simply Asia products. Didn't even see a place for them in the store.:shake:

What I thought would be a quick morning run ...

Yo-Plus yogurt $2 - $1Q = free
Green Giant Steamers $2.39 - $1Q = $.39
Mazola cooking spray $2.29 - $1Q = $.29
Tums Smoothies $1.49 - $1Q = free (actually got overage on one of them)

The cashier missed 3 of my coupons (I had 4 of each item and a coupon for each). To make a long story short, no one there (not even the managers) knew about doubles/triples until I started protesting my $6+ total.

You're welcome :) One thing I didn't mention is that at the Shopper's I go to (Fair City/Rolling Valley) they disabled the Catalina machines at the self check-out when they put in the new computer system a few months ago. I don't know why. I did the glade plug in gels deal there and the catalina didn't print before or after the transaction so I called catalina and they sent them to me via mail. Then I tried the scented oil deal at a regular cashier and it went through fine so just be aware of that!

Most of you are probably aware of this.....but thought I'd share for anyone who may not be....

If you normally PAY for your Sunday Washington Post (to get the coupon inserts), check the Express (free paper published by Wash. Post) tomorrow, as it may have a $.50/1 Sunday Washington Post Q, which will triple at Shopper's to $1.50 = FREE Sunday papers! The Express ran this Q last Friday (Nov. 14) and on Friday, Oct. 31 (but not on Nov. 7 for some reason). Exp. date is 12/31/08. Express can be found at Metro stations, probably other locations, too, though the only other place I have seen them is at the YMCA.

Just did a run. Had a looot of coupons that did not scan for some reason  These were newspaper insert Q's. Cashier had to input them himself. The ones I remember are the Kraft Olive oil Mayo Q, the $1.00/3 Kraft items Q (tear pad), the Betty Crocker $0.35/potatoes Q, and I think the gilette series $1.00/ shave gel Q. It was a real PITA for the cashier and I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't scan.

Another thing, I would try and pair up the Philadelphia cream cheese purchase with a turkey purchase. If you buy $25 worth, it'll deduct $10 instantly from your turkey. At 0.99/lb (has to be Shady brook fresh or BB frozen), get a 10 lb turkey for FREE in addition to all that cheese. Here's a quick overview of what I bought:

9 Philly Cream Cheese @ 1.25 each - $1/3 MQ= $5.25
1 Jello Singles @ 2.00 - $1.00 (from Safeway. begins with 9, did not double, but ok)= $1.00
4 Kraft Olive Oil may @ 3.00 - $1.00 = $4.00
Lifeway Kefir - $1.00 MQ (mambo sprouts) = $0.89 (YUM!)
Joint Juice - $1.00 MQ= free or if you're lucky, overage
Betty Crocker potato pouches $1.00- $0.35 MQ = free
Lipton tea $1.09= $1.00/2= $0.09/each

There was a lot more but I'm blanking out. One thing to note, I did *not* get the $10.00 off instantly for the turkey, even though I double checked with the cashier before handing over my coupons. I had to go to cs afterward and fortunately the manager was there, though he wasn't convinced that coupons had nothing to do with it not deducting the ten bucks. I kept repeating that I asked the cashier if it took off $10.00 for the turkey and he didn't see anything, neither did I, then I proceeded with the coupons. Anyhow, I know I'm going to try again tomorrow at another Shoppers because it really tripped me up that so many Q's weren't scanning. I'm sure this deal will work the way it's supposed to, Shopper's is pretty good about that stuff.

Anyhow, HTH someone out there!

Looks like there's another thread running here (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=251363&t=1027123). Should we post here or there? I just put up my trip:

Arm & Hammer Toothpaste, .29 each after coupon from 8/17 paper.
Birdseye Steamfresh Vegetables, I got 7 bags for $2.00 using two $1.00/3 coupons from the 10/12 paper and a $1.00/1 I'd gotten from Shoppers last month.
Blue Bonnet Margarine, FREE after coupon from 11/9 paper.
Clabber Girl Baking Powder, .50 each after coupon from 11/16 paper.
Daisy Sour Cream, .13 after coupon from 11/16 paper.
DanActive Yogurt, .79 after coupon from 9/21 paper.
Keebler Pie Crust, .25 after coupon from 11/9 paper.
Kraft Dressing, $1.00 each after coupon (we really needed some!).
Lipton Tea Bags (16ct size), .09 each after coupon from 11/16 paper.
Mazola No Stick Cooking Spray, .29 after coupon from 11/9 paper.
Pillsbury Brownie Mix, .50 each after coupon from 11/9 paper.

Thanks for alerting us to the other thread and for posting your deals. I haven't used many IP's, I'm almost out of ink and am focusing on the newspaper Q's. Thanks for the heads up though.

On that note, I am happy to report that the turkey deal is working as I expected. I think the culprit last night was the fat free cream cheese which rang up as $2.69 :omg: so I guess it wasn't part of the sale... way to be unclear Shopper's  Fortunately, I only had one of those! One thing to watch out for is the running total-- it deducted the $10.00 automatically but it didn't show up on the screen as "-$10.00" or anything like that, it was just a very subtle "You saved $12.58" on the bottom (the $2.58 was also a 0.20/lb savings). I was nervous that it wasn't working again so I called the lead cashier but in the end I decided there's no other way I could have saved $10.00. And when the receipt printed out, it said "Save $10.00 on meat". It just was really well hidden!

I bought the following:
9 cream cheese (regular or 1/3 less fat) $11.25 - $1.00/3 * 3= $5.25
3 cool whip and 6 jello ~$9.00- $1/3* 3= $3.00 (different coupon!)
2 Kraft olive oil mayo $6.00 - $1.00*2= $2.00*
1 Fresh Shady Brook Turkey $11.08 - *$10.00 instant savings from italicized items
2 Lifeway Kefir $2.89 - $1.00*2= $1.78
4 Reynolds Oven bags $2.29- $1.00*4= $0.29/each

And a lot more that's already been mentioned here like the Reynolds parchment paper, Domino sugar, etc.

I also found a tearpad for $1.00 off President brand Brie log but it was priced at $7 or $8 so I passed. Was sad to not find a flat bread tear pad but ah well. Total OOP was $20.49 after it was up at $99.xx! Very good trip :)

I found some more good match ups

Went again early this morning (Rolling Valley). They didn't have the tiny Tums Smoothies (free after Q), Muir Glen tomatoes, or Rubbermaid containers but they DID take IP coupons, I only had two to try it out since Kingstowne denied them. There were no tearpads anywhere in the store. Plus, they were OOS on the Blue Bonnet Margarine (free after Q) and Hillshire Farm Cocktail Links, or my total would have been even better:

Before coupons, $198.xx, after it was $78.88, including the $10 off for the turkey. I also bought produce, some canned goods and bread without any coupons (horror!). Some highlights:

Glade Aerosol Sprays were 1.00 each, free with $1.00/2 coupons from 11/2 paper
Hanover Frozen Veggies were 1.50 each, down to .50 each with 1.00/2 coupon from 10/26 paper
Reddi Wip was 2.00, only .50 after .50 coupon 11/16 paper tripled
Dannon Activia Yogurt was 2.79, only .79 after 1.00 off coupon from 9/21 paper
Daisy Sour Cream was 1.33, only .13 after .60 off coupon from 11/16 paper
Dole Mandarin Oranges are .98/can. Buy three and use the 1.00/3 from the 11/9 paper. You pay .94 and get a .75 Catalina coupon at checkout.
Heinz Jarred Gravy is 1.00 each. Buy three and use this 1.00/3 printable (http://www.heinzgravy.com/coupon.aspx) so they're only .33 each.
Mazola Cooking Spray is 2.29, only .29 after 1.00 off coupon from 11/9 paper
Pillsbury Brownie Mixes are 1.50 each, only .50 after 1.00/2 coupon from 11/2 paper (my kids were thrilled to see 8 boxes come in the house)
Sunmaid Raisins (the bags of tiny boxes) are 2.00 each. Use the 1.00/2 coupon from the 11/9 paper to get them for 1.00. They're marked with a Blue's Clue's promo; you send the UPC code in and get a free book.

For the turkey deal, I did:
4 Jello Pudding 3.96
2 Cool Whip 1.98 (I used two of the $1.00 off Cool Whip + 2 Jello coupons from the 11/16 paper)
2 Kraft Dressing 4.00 (used the 1.00/2 coupon from 11/16 paper)
2 Kraft Cheese 6.00
1 Kraft Shredded Cheese 2.50
1 Nabisco Crackers 3.00 (I had a 1.00 off wyb Kraft Cheese + Nabisco crackers I'd gotten from a tearpad a while back)
2 Kraft Mayo 6.00 (used two 1.00 off coupons)
1 Shady Brook Farm Frozen Turkey $18.12 (used the 1.00 off coupon printable (http://smartsource.com))
I basically paid $6.12 for a 20lb turkey, so I'm happy.

Thanks for the heads up on this, I went out and tried it tonight and was delighted to see a $0.75 oyno print out. Great deal on these at Shopper's.

Tonight I found peelies on a lot of items, but didn't end up buying (nor taking peelies ;) any of them:

$1.00 on 3 .5 liters of Canada Dry green tea or 7 up pomegranate soda. Attempted to buy but it beeped and then cashier only put in $1.00 off and it didn't double correctly. Voided to avoid a headache.

$1.00 on JJ Flatbreads. This wasn't actually flat bread, this was an Old London brand cracker like item that I found in one of the processed food aisles... it may have been the baking or chip aisle. There were a bunch of $1.00 peelies stuck on. It's a stand alone display. I didn't buy it, even though it would have been $0.50... just didn't feel compelled.

There were also tear pads in the speciality cheese section near the deli for $1.00 off alouette cheese, President cheese and something else. All began with "5" ;)

Nice job! I only saw the newspaper after I checked out, and since it said "$1.50" on the tag, I figured self check out would be a breeze. not so. it rang up $1.35 and I had to have someone assist me

Is anyone else having problems with newspaper insert coupons NOT scanning at all? I don't know what is up with Shopper's computers... it makes for a really frustrating trip when that happens. No complaints though, so far, all the customer service people at Fair City have been extremely friendly and helpful.

Lots of tuna (Free)
yoplait digestive (Free)
glade carpet powder .29
Dove candy bars (Free)
Hanover frozen veggies .50 bag
Veg-It-Tall canned veggies (free)
Glory canned veggies (free)
Gatorade powder (8 per box) $1
Dasani flavored water .29 bottle
Deer Park 6 pk. sports bottles $1.50
Turkey Oven Bags .29

I was happy to see the Smithfield coupon for money off pork chops. Doubling a $1 on a small pack made it a great deal.

One store was flawless. I attempted self-checkout in one store and it was a nightmare. The same coupons that worked in another location, beeped at this store so CS had to finish my order and they were rude and did not understand what they were doing.

My 3 trips had starting totals of about $220 and ended at $70. These types of deals make all the couponing worthwhile.

My area has triples/doubles all week as well.

There's a manu coupon on the back page of the ad for 1.00 off Colgate toothpaste, and right above it has Colgate on sale for $1.99. Sounds like free toothpaste to me!

Be careful -- somewhere you can find my post in this thread about how I used a washington post 10/50, and then many of my coupons ended up not doubling/tripling. I'm not sure if that coupon was the reason, but I'm not sure what else would have caused it.

Everything may work fine for you, but try to at least go when the customer service desk is open, so if a problem arises, it can be fixed on the spot. (I went at 11 PM, and no one could help, and when I contacted CS, they said to go back to the store to fix it, and that was just too much hassle.)

Did anybody total their receipts from Shopper's last triples/doubles event? I was assiduous in collecting my receipts and when I totaled everything I found out that I had spent $187 dollars :omg: I made one or two trips a day and my shopping cart was never more than half-full. I guess what I'm saying is to watch out for the coupon effect-- I know sometimes I throw something into my cart because I have a coupon for it and then I end up never eating it nor using it. The little OOP that you have each trip adds up fast, so keep that in mind!

That being said, I want to let you know that there are two important coupons to watch out for if you have a Safeway near by.

$0.75 off Chinet casuals or white plates blinkies. Says DND but begins with a 5 and I used these at Shopper's before. (these are ooold blinkies, so very YMMV on finding them!. I've seen the $1.00 DND kind at Giant, but they begin with a 9)

Free cups wyb Chinet plates tearpads. This is a blue coupon, about the size of a 4x6 notecard. Found on the endcap of the paper plate aisle, if they're not all gone.

I know these have been mentioned in other threads, but since Chinet is 2 for $5 at Shopper's, it makes a pretty good deal!

Also, if you go to Shopper's on early Friday afternoons, they usually have a woman giving samples and if you're lucky COUPONS! Sometimes they're shopper's Q's and other times it's been Kraft Cheese $1.00, Kashi bread pockets, and other stuff.

But then, if you do happen to be able to get other things for cheap or even FREE, please consider donating it to your church, food pantry, or other charitable organization - you just might get a tax deduction for the value of the product (not necessarily the price you may have paid, if any).

Yes, good point. A lot of our stockpiled items do get used up, but since we're on a tight budget and there's a lot of us here, I tend to donate later, when I realize that I'm not going to use all the stuff in time. I'm not sure though that donating a lot of the Fruit Roll Ups and such that I had from a Safeway deal would have been a public service though

I made a short run at Shopper's. As much as I want to be excited, I've just run out of steam for the doubles at their store. Don't get me wrong, I'll be going back, but it is really sad that their doubling seems to have gotten harder rather than easier. A lot of coupons wouldn't go through (Argo $0.45, Gatorade $0.50 hangtag, Mentos $1.00 on gum). There's no reason for any of those to not go through besides wonky computer software... anyhow here is a short list of things to look out for:

Nestle Cookie dough is $3.18- $1.00= $1.18
Gatorade Tiger was on an endcap display with several $0.50 off hangtags. They're big and black, very hard to miss. Made the gatorade FREE AC
Land O Lakes Eggs $2.99- $0.50 MQ= $1.50
Smart Balance P&B $3.18-$1.00MQ= $1.18
Minute Rice bowls $2.19- $1.00MQ= $0.19
Argo Corn starch $1.58- $0.45 MQ= $0.23
Argo Baking powder $1.50-$0.45 MQ= $0.15
Mentos Gum price is ? -$1.00 MQ= Free (of that I'm sure)
Birds Eye veggies $1.00- $1.00/4= SHOULD BE $0.50/bag or $2.00 for 4. This one did not double at all, though :(

I saw peelies on some Perdue quesadilla bites for $1.00 off. These were in the refrigerated section and they run about $4.49 if I'm not mistaken. Didn't look to be worth it to me.

Yup, their computers are messing up coupons, at least at both Fair City and Rolling Valley, though the latter was much worse than the former. At the latter, the lead cashier had to intervene and type in like 20 different numbers (personal id? security codes? I have no clue) for each of the coupons I had that were not scanning. Let's see, that would be the Argo and the mentos again (so far). The computer locked up when the cashier tried to do it.

If it begins with a "9", no. In fact, the only place I've seen cats that begin with 5 is K-mart and they are on the old printer system which may be part of why they have 5's instead of 9's in their code.

Sounds like an isolated incident. Shoppers in Gainesville, VA has been no problem in my 2 trips this past weekend plus other trips the last couple of coupon promos.

They did have to get someone to come over to push a couple coupons through that either wouldn't read or wouldn't multply. But so far I have not had a coupon refused. I wonder if that manager had seen some fake coupons come in.

I'd call during the weekday to talk to the real manager as the night/weekend shift may not be quite in sync with everyone else.

Just came back from the Clopper Mill store in Germantown, MD. The girl at the SCO didn't seem to have any issue with me using IPs. In fact, she had to override a bunch because the doubling was greater than the product's price.

A couple things I don't think were mentioned previously:

There are some (cheap) GUM toothbrushes on sale for 1.50. With .75 coupon (I apologize, but I tend not to record where the coupons came from, but they should all be recent, as in the past several weeks), those are free. (Perhaps to go with your free toothpaste).

Arm & Hammer Baking Soda is 0.88. IP for $1.00 off 2 (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=1016869) makes a pair of them free.

Idahoan potato bags are 1.19. IP for 0.75 (http://forumst.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=911816) (PDF in the wiki) makes them free.

After three trips, I spent $10.20 and saved 64.87.

Thanks for all the hard work you guys put into this. It really helps.

Hi...

newbie to Shoppers thread... :D

Does anyone know if Shoppers base their buy $xx get $xx OYNO catalina deal on regular or sale prices?

I would like to try the Fuze deal ... buy $30 get $15 back but not sure if I should chance it on basing it on the original price.

Does their OYNO catalinas print after you pay or when you reach the total amount?

Hm. Shoppers is a bit different in that there is no club card that you use. So whatever price the item rings up at is the price that counts towards the deal, unlike with Safeway/Giant/and maybe others. For example if Fuze is regularly $1.59 and it's on sale for $1.25 this week, the $1.25 is what counts. HTH

It's good to know. :D

I'm going to do the fuze deal since DH found tearpads for b1g1 fuze drinks. They are my favorite drinks...

buy 20 fuze (2 for $3) use 10 - b1g1 cpn pay $15 OOP and get back $15 OYNO cats. I'm going to then buy milk with the cats since that's a necessity in our household. LOL

I would think diapers are the number one item for baby care, personally! It sounds like a troublesome cat, I would seek to have it pushed through if there isn't an official list. Sorry I can't be of more help than that and good luck !

I don't know if this helps anyone but the Shoppers in Ashburn is closing. They are not shipping the food to other stores, apparently they're going to sell it off. This is according to my husband who works next door, so if they'll keep taking coupons I imagine some good deals to be had once the food starts getting cheap.

ETA: I asked how he knew and apparently someone came into his shop to tell them they were closing so yeah, unless Shoppers changes it's mind, it's definite and happening soon.

Thanks for the info. That is sad because it was such a good location for me to hit when they were doing specials, I don't think any grocery store has had success there, as it use to be a SuperFresh. I really hope it doesn't sit vacant. Ashburn has so many grocery stores now, I use to live there when Ashburn just began with two whole neighborhoods. It is amazing and exciting to see it grow, but having stores close and sit vacant, is definitely not good.

I was happy to see that they decided to change it up a bit, because I personally find $0.99 triples to be EASIER than $1.00 doubles. I have sooooo many $1.00 Q's that I end up spending hours at Shopper's. Still, there was a lot of good stuff that I was hoping to buy using double dollars. Ah well.

At least I'm organized because of Giant's triples. Though I do wish Giant would de-stinge and have at least a 20 coupon limit if not an unlimited one. This 5 limit is really a hassle.

Does anyone shop at Shopper's outside of doubles/triples events? You have any idea how much Laughing Cow Cheese and/or Special K waffles run for? TIA much appreciated!

Soe NoVA Giant stores had five up to 99c Tripler coupons with the circular. You can use 5 per transaction. If you did not get them with your circular, there are reports that it would still work at your store if you get it from another one.

The last day is today though. Hope they do it again and increase the limit.

I hate to complain, but you know that I'm going to. I just had another unbearably long trip to Shopper's. I only ever go there for doubles/triples events now. I used to go because they had better prices on produce than Giant/Safeway but now with all the H-marts and Grand Marts opening up, I stick to them for the basics.

Anyhow, to make a long story short, Shopper's computers still really, really suck during triples events. Many coupons would not go through for no reason other than the computer locking up or freezing or whatever. My cashier was trying to be helpful but the lead cashier or manager or whatever she thinks she is came over to help and then stayed and scrutinized every single one of my coupons. She saw one of the blinkie coupons and she wouldn't even let the cashier scan it because of the "do not double" at the top.. Fine, I only had a couple anyway (Starkist creations). I can handle coupon scrutiny, it's when someone thinks that a pictured item is the only kind that can be purchased with a certain coupon and an argument ensues, that's when I get really irritated.

But the bulk of my complaint has to be that so many were beeping needlessly.
Daisy sour cream: ($0.50/1) Beep/would not go through.

Ortega $0.75/2 beep ( I think in this case it's due to the coupon because it also beeped at Giant. They didn't, however, accuse me of not buying the item at Giant. There's a picture of the seasoning on the Q itself.)

$0.55 on Hillshire Farms hearty lunch meats also wouldn't go through but she tried again at the end and it went through. Some tubs had $2.00 off shopper's Q's on them because they expire today.

$0.75 on Special K waffles-- the first two went through, the other two would not. (These were at $2.59 at my shopper's (fair city) so if you have the tripler Q's, I'd go with Giant. Today is the last day !)

I told the cashier & manager that they shouldn't have an event like this if it's going to be so much of a hassle and she said it depends on the register, some are slower than others and that she has problems with certain ones more than other ones. The manger however went on about how it's like that to prevent coupon fraud and I had to stifle a laugh. Right, because a crappy computer system is really going to stop coupon fraudsters? Keep in mind they updated their computers back in September. Hah.

Anyhow, just a short little rant. I did walk out of there with some good deals, but I wasted a lot of time fighting and double checking the cashier to get them.

I agree that way too many coupons have to be pushed through at shoppers. The tricky thing is that regardless of whether the scanner accepts the coupon or not, the machine makes a beeping noise, so if the cashier and you are not paying close attention, you can easily think a coupon has gone through when it hasn't.

Also, when I've gone on the weekends, the lines have been unbearably long and slow. Shoppers prices are better than Superfresh, but the fact that superfresh has self-checkouts is pushing me toward just waiting for their triples now that Shoppers isn't doubling the $1.00 coupons.

The most recent weeks' inserts are probably the most helpful for Shopper's. Off the top of my head, I'd get Daisy sour cream, Special K Fiber bars, Scrubbing Bubbles shower cleaner, ortega taco seasoning (be prepared to argue for this one, despite the clear picture) and special k waffles if you like ready-made waffles. hth!

ooooohh i miss the days of Superfresh :( I'm so sad they closed in my area. The closest one is an hour away. Now I'm coupon crazy but not THAT coupon crazy

I hear you on shopping at Shopper's over the weekend. You know when they first started doing this doubles thing, I would be there 2 times a day. now i go once at the beginning and once at the end and i spend much less there than I used to. With bloom and giant tripling, shopper's doubles/triples events can be taken for granted.

I added in some coupon matchups. There might be a newspaper insert coupon for aquafresh (not sure what type the coupon is good for) and I am sure there are some matchups for the pillsbury products, but without seeing the full owrding, I am not sure what will match those either.

Shopper's has self-checkouts here! That's the route I usually go. But any coupon that exceeds the price of the product when tripled beeps. Then the cashier comes over and manually enters the value and triples it (never checks the actual price of the product) and I get OVERAGE! But it is a very slow and tedious process, and I get lots of glares from the customers behind me because it takes so very long with all my Q's. Last time they did this, I skipped it completely.

Just had an excellent run at Shopper's, got $28 worth of goods for $0.53 ($0.48 was tax).

Some things on my list:

Totinos Pizza Rolls (small box) $2 - $0.55 triple (printable (http://www.family-cents.com/default.aspx)) = $0.35
Del Monte canned %50 less salt vegetables $1.25 - $0.75 triple (printable (http://www.delmonte.com/solutions/default.aspx)) = FREE
SOBE Life Water 1.19 - $0.40 triple (sticky) = FREE
Idahoan Bagged Potatoes $1.19 - $0.75 triple (printable (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=452611&t=911816#)) = FREE
GUM toothbrush $1.99 - $0.75 (2/7/08) triple = FREE
French's Fried Onions (small can) $2.19 - $0.75 (SS 12/14/08) triple = FREE
French's Worcestershire Sauce ??? - $0.50 (SS 1/18/09) triple = FREE
Sunkist Soda $1.00 - $1/2 peelie = $0.50

A few other notes:

A&W and Sunkist 2-liters are also on sale for $1 each

The SCOs beep any time a coupon triples to over the value of the product. It requires a cashier to intervene.

There is a maximum number of coupons the SCOs are made to accept (by my count on my receipt, it is 12, total, as some of mine weren't supposed to triple). After this, it requires cashier intervention (but this can be a good thing). They have to manually add the coupon (you scan it, then they hit a bunch of buttons to okay it and make it triple). Every time he did this, this resulted in a full tripling. I had saved my Idahoan coupons for last. $1.19 - $0.75x3 = -$1.06. That kind of overage helps reduce the tab a bit.

So, if you are lucky enough to have a shoppers with an SCO, I would recommend getting some Idahoan potatoes and save those for last. Worst case is they are free. Best case is some good overage.

This is kind of a stupid question but....I was thinking of going for the triple coupons just to get some items for free (or close to it) and was wondering if they will triple coupons that say "do not double" on them. Thanks :)

As long as the barcode on the coupon starts with a 5, the coupon will automatically double or triple. Unless you have a super nazi cashier who overrides the system, but I've never had that happen.

Found something at the Sterling Shopper on Rte 7 - try me free peelies on the Jolly Time popcorn, currently on sale 3/$5. I didn't have any coupons, but others might. ANyway, the form requres purchase of one box of popcorn. Form says they'll send you coupon for a FREE box, plus OTHER coupons and Jolly Time offers. Sounded like a good deal to me! Hubby has recently "rediscovered" popcorn and goes through it like water.

So, I went to check the flyer and they do not double the $1 coup anymore? It's triple to 99c only right?

Like flugette said, they should double automatically if it begins with a "5". The only exceptions are renegade cashiers or managers who think their job depends on rejecting as many coupons as possible, so they refuse to even scan DND coupons. That's what happened to me earlier this week.

I didn't have too much trouble with my SCO finding things. It did yell at me once about the Sobe sticky, but I scanned it again later in the order and it found the item fine.

Also, I have mixed feelings about the problems with the SCO. On the one hand, you inevitably need a cashier to intervene. On the other hand, the cashier usually gets annoyed with the machine not working and eventually just overrides anything wihtout even checking (at least this has been my experience). I actually had one cashier log into the machine and just told me to hit ok when it errors.

Sorry you had so many problems.

I was in Shoppers twice today and it was surprisingly quiet. The closest one to me is usually a madhouse on the weekends, but there was no line at SCO and I walked right up to a cashier.

Nothing much of note here, but this store had a tearpad for Dr. Oetker pie fillings again- $0.50/1, making them free with triples. They also had tons of the free sodas piled at the checkout aisles- don't think they'll give them all out today, and I wonder if they'll leave them out until they're gone.

Hm, it might just be your Shopper's, because I don't see any mention of this in my Northern VA ad. I was getting ready to use up some $1.00 coupons, too! Oh well :o)

ETA Yup, looks like there's a special ad just for the Fredericksburg Shoppers advertising $1.00 doubles and $0.50 and below triples. Well have fun!

I don't remember seeing anything like that. Of course, I completely missed the $5 off 8 tostitos/pepsi/dip coupons that are in this week's ad until someone else mentioned it :shake:

Last one I saw was in the fall, and it expired 10/31/08. I must have clipped 20 or more of those. It was $3 off 5, but actually coded for $3 off 2. ;)

I stopped by and picked up an ad this morning at my store (VA) and didn't notice anything about doubles or triples, but I could have totally missed it, as I was focused on finding MQ's in the ad. There were none, of course. :(

Yeah and I think the week before or so it was in Fredericksburg ad only. I think it may have to do with which stores are updated or maybe the ones that have grand openings?
